Thank you Papa and Mama for these gracious words, I know I am the righteousness of God by my faith alone in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus and I know that the bible is christocentric material whch reveals Christ, Christ is the mesage of the Church!!!
*CHRISTOCENTRIC MEAL* *DR ABEL DAMINA* *FRIDAY APRIL 15, 2022* *RIGHTEOUSNESS (1)* *Righteousness is a gift of God. The gospel doesn’t demand righteousness, the gospel is the gospel of righteousness.* Romans 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, [even] in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; Vs 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Vs 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Hence, the believer in Christ doesn’t have a righteousness problem. Once he accepts the gospel, he has accepted the righteousness which is of God. The words “Justified,” “righteous,” and “righteousness” are used more in the book of Romans than in any other book in the bible. To understand the doctrine of righteousness, we need to study the book of Romans. The word, “righteousness” was used 92 times in the New Testament books of the bible. A third of those instances are in the Book of Romans. That means one-third of the explanation of righteousness from Matthew to Revelation is found in just one epistle. To understand righteousness, I must understand the Book of Romans. Romans 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called [to be] an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, It was called the gospel of God because of the promissory nature it had in the “Holy Scriptures;” the scriptures of the Prophets. Romans 1:9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers; The Gospel of His Son now the Gospel of God. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Romans 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! He calls it the Gospel of Peace. Romans 15:29 And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ. He mentions the fullness of the Blessing of the Gospel of Christ… The emphasis when Paul mentions the Gospel of Christ, over and again. He is talking about the resurrection of Jesus. He calls the resurrection of Jesus the Gospel. You couldn’t have had resurrection without his death. The Gospel is not in the death, the Gospel is in his resurrection. Mark 16 was the only place where the word Gospel was used in the four Gospels in the Great commission. Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Vs 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen. Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. John 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on [them,] and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Vs 23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; [and] whose soever [sins] ye retain, they are retained. It’s only in Mark that the word “Gospel was used. “Go ye and preach the Gospel to every creature.” Why did he call it the Gospel? He did so because he had appeared to them after he rose from the dead. Vs 14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. Hence, the term “The Gospel is not about the death of Jesus but about His resurrection. The resurrection of Jesus is the promise of God. See Paul’s emphasis as he preached in Acts 13. Acts 13:32 And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers, Vs 33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. That’s what he calls the Gospel, so the Gospel is the resurrection of Jesus. Back to Romans 1. Vs 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Hence, the Gospel of Christ will be the Good news of His resurrection. Vs 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Observe that He identifies the Gospel with righteousness. So a key element in the resurrection of Jesus is righteousness. Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. Observe that whenever you hear about righteousness, it is tied to His resurrection, NOT his death. 1st Corinthians 15:13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: Vs 14 And if Christ be not risen, then [is] our preaching vain, and your faith [is] also vain… Vs 17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith [is] vain; ye are yet in your sins. The emphasis is on the resurrection. That is what the Gospel is. *Confession: I have righteousness because Jesus rose from the dead, I am no longer in my sins. Since the righteousness of God came by the gospel of his son, I have God’s righteousness all the time.*
