Really, really helpful video! Music-making virgin here, so everything is like Chinese to me, so I really didn't understand the types of VST and how to install and access them, so this video covered everything needed! Cheers

    Hi

When I had Windows 7 I could have the desktop plug-ins and choose which one I wanted to use for music. I had as many as 12 plugins and each worked on the desktop. When I wanted to try to add a new plugin to Audacity, then I lost all the plugins from the desktop. For me it is a big loss because now I can not set to the desktop and besides, as it turns out, my computer does not support the dll format. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. I have no one around to help me. I do not use a DAW program.

If you're still on Windows then you should be able to use .dll files (although you may have the file extension hidden). .dll are VST2 files (which are becoming less common now, but are still available), whereas VST3 files are .vst. If you can give me more info, I may be able to help you.

@@musictechtuition Thank you for your reply. I have had Windows 10 for a long time and as I wrote earlier, I had information about the lack of support for the .dll format. These plugins 'that I had 'on the top left had icons and the ability to record . I have no way to show you here . Of all those I had, there was only one left, surprisingly, it's Anti_Transpirant. But she has other icons. Now I do not remember how I installed on the desktop . All I know is that I didn't put it in the vst or Steinberg folder . Currently I was inserting into vstplugin and everything was going out on dll. I wanted to install the Monster Soundscape plugin now (viewed on TH-cam) and I can't give it to my desktop. Happy New Year .

@@wojciechjastrzebski5572 I'm not sure on the specifics here, but Windows 10 *definitely* supports .dll files - my main DAW still uses them and it's on Windows 10. I see that Monster Soundscape is available as VST2 for Windows, which contains a .dll file, so you should be able to work with it. It may be just that your system/explorer is set up to hide .dll files, or something of that nature. As you don't use a DAW it sounds like you're using these in standalone mode, which some support but many need a VST host to make them playable, such as Tone2's nanohost - www.tone2.com/nanohost.html

@@musictechtuition Wow, thank you so much for a good explanation and link. I have to try to do it. I do not use DAW because I can't to configure and create my music. I am not a Master of configuration.
