It was trying to scan the wrong folders and I ended up making a folder and naming it myself so I can direct all my plugins there. And have Ableton automatically scan that folder for new plugins

I believe they carry the actual sound info but not sure where they need to be stored when doing a manual install? Thanks if you can help!
Thanks - I was trying to use Air Hybrid 3 (free with Akai MPK Mini2) along with Ableton on a Win 10 PC and this is exactly what I needed. It got installed in the Steinberg Folder. So all I did was to goto Ableton > Options > Preferences > Plugins & change the Folder location. Cheers
I can't thank you enough. The vst folder program files x86 vs program file. 64bit was my issue. Hours of doing the right procedure and it not working I was loosing It. It works perfectly now. You Rock! Thank you

Thanks for the offer Obedia person. I have made decision that I will stick regarding VSTs. Serum installed fine. Sugarbytes install fine. I know I will miss out on some stuff but if you can't make whatever sound you require using. VST like Serum then maybe some more musical learning I needed. I certainly don't want anymore AIR grief. As far as I m concerned I wouldn't use AIR VSTs as a matter of principle. They didn't reply to my pleas for help...until I went and aired my grievances on their forum...then they took my posts down within minutes. This firm doesn't have music at its heart. THAT is my anger at them. I not have a telephone but appreciate your offer of help...in the exact opposite way I feel about AIR. Long live REAL musicians...or something!!!
I used to have a dozen or so plugins that I could use without the DAW program and had on my desktop. When I wanted to add a new plugin to Audacity then I lost all plugins. Only one was AntiTranspirant. Now I can't deal with installing plugins that I had or new. I currently have Windows 10 . I use the MIDI controller Arturia Mini Lab, but I also have Akai MPK Mini Play Professional. These plugins were as an application and worked on the desktop . I opened which I wanted and played with the possibility of recording.

Everytime I try to put the effect in the plugins folder it says i need administrator permission. If anyone knows what to do i would appreciate the help.
@@Swordonator I'm pretty sure plugins are mostly for after you've already recorded something. So, if you record something with your mic, you can then put the plugin over the audio for the desired effect.
Not enough information. I do not have either of these folders (VST or Steinburg) in my win 7 computer. Tried to put Plug-in into Audacity folder "Plug-ins" and that did not work.

i was trying to download a synthisizer programm, called Crystal soft Synth, where was written in the description "Copy this file to your VST Instruments folder. See the documentation for your VST host for the location of this folder." i can not find a VST instruments folder on my laptop, and i couldnt find an explanation movie in youtube, which would tell me what to do now, i would be happy about someone helping me out here. im a noob

Make sure sonar is set to scan the folder the plugin is in.

How do you re scan with windows
you scan in the configurations inside the daw.
Make sure the plugins are in a folder that cubase scans.

When I open up that folder they're in there, but when I look for them in MPC Essentials, they aren't there.
Then you need to point your MPC software to your VST folder. Call for help: 323-319-4051

Access the VST tab in the ableton setup, and use the rescan function.

Depends on the DAW.
It's gonna say that because it is a system folder. You can turn it off in your UAC settings I believe.
