The Magic of Motherhood and the Treasure that is Women

  • I know that there are going to be a lot of people who will get offended at the subject discussed here as well as a manner in which it is discussed. It does not matter to me. Women are not men, and they are the better for that. Men are not women, can never be women, and to try to do so is demeaning to women. Mothers are special, and those were born to be mothers are a special gift from God, and they fill a place that nobody else can fill.

I love what you said about how women lost sight of what they are because men lost sight of it. I'm a millenial homeschooling mom of three boys with another boy on the way. I thank God I have a traditional husband, chivalrous and honorable. He is a kind of man you rarely see today. He treats me very well; as described in the Bible as a man should treat his wife. I do my very best to treat him as a wife should treat her husband. Sometimes I see these channels with men asking for a trad. Wife and I have often thought I am able to be me because my husband is who he is. When I met him I was a modern teenager girl, a latchkey kid raised on tv screens and modern culture, lost like any other. To keep with your analogy, he saw a nugget being treated as a doorstop and he picked me up and started treating me right. So now we are going on 15 happy years together and God willing we will have four sons soon.

I can agree with everthing you say except for holding a door open for a man. I spent many years as a truck driver. Most everyone at truckstops held the door for each other, in spite of an OKC police detective describing truckstops as a 'den of rattlesnakes'. He based his view on a few, rather than most. Acts of courtesy and friendliness are appreciated by most, even people who have a lot of problems in their life.

As a man, I hold doors open for other men and other men have held doors for me. I think that's just being good and decent to other people. It would be rude if I just let a door slam in the face of a man or anyone walking behind me. I think if its at all possible, we need to be kind to our fellow human beings. Especially today when its a yime that far too many people seem to enjoy being nasty to others. I fight against that carrying on as best I can.

No need to apologize for speaking truth and wisdom, Dwayne. I am a single female who did not marry and have children--always thought I would be a wife and mother; but life has a way of not going as planned. My parents were wonderful people who loved and respected each other and who loved and raised my brother and I as best they could, often through sacrifice. I miss both of them and hardly a day goes by that I don't wish I could spend time with them, ask for advice, etc. I feel sadness for the many, many fractured families in our culture. Keep speaking to that need.... ❤

Raw, beautiful words. I grew up with an abusive, nasty father but a strong, loving mother. He's been out my life for well over a decade and even though I've known a good, honourable step dad for as many years I feel myself struggling to stabilise and become a good man myself. As hard as it is for me, I owe so much to my mother, to this day, for escaping my dad and giving me a chance of finding myself.

I've been through the same thing and through my late teens and early 20s was terrified that I'd turn out the same way, cried over it, couldn't bear the thought that I as a person with my own mind could go down similar paths from what I witnessed. Logically I hated it, but further down I could feel it. Took me a lot more years of knowing people to know it's something I would never do. The fact you're thinking about it clearly, and that you've counted your blessings shows me you have nothing to worry about.
The world will love you if you struggle through adversity and still smile at the world with open arms. I don't need to have faith, I know you're gonna be alright.

My father was a stern Southern man. Wasn't a preacher. He was a brick layer, who knarled his hands up in the Chicago cold to make sure I had food, shelter, and clothing. A hard man.
Not a tender man. He loves us. But dreams, existentialism, careers, all that stuff doesn't supercede surviving. He grew up poor with 10 brothers and sisters, and a dad who likes to drink and hobo in trains.
It's taken me half of my adult life to understand the cut of man I've been dealing with.
He's mellowed out, I'm still growing up.
Mom has always been there as the buffer. After watching me get cut out of a car at an intersection. After running off to the Navy, and worrying her to death learning how to fly helicopters.
She is a Saint. Nothing less.

I’m a third generation feminist and hearing you say women are a treasure, mothers are a treasure has tears running down my face 😭🧡. I believe that’s true feminism and I wish our society and the world believed that as well. That’s not treating women “equal” by expecting them to leave their infants to jump right back into their careers. I’m a post partum doula and watching what women go through physically emotionally and spiritually to deny their healing bodies and detach from their babies is absolutely soul wrenching. But what’s worse is seeing the pain of the babies. The crying and distress of these infants has my heart in pieces every time. It’s a cruel and ruthless system that is completely toxic to mama, child and the whole family.

I understand that you might think his teachings are 'out of anger' but I can assure you that the reality is the opposite. This entire video is overflowing with righteous anger purely out of love for the women in his life, and that's something our society desperately needs. I had no choice but to become the mother, father, the husband, the brother. Every men in my life, starting with my father failed me. Now in days, as a mother of three, a nurse, a member of the military, I find myself feeling hopeless, I attempted to be the wife, the feminine, and I ended up having to pick myself off the floor and becoming the men I needed. I don’t think there will ever be any men I can respect. I carry to much resentment, pain, and fear that a men would hurt me again. So I take the role of both. My children are now 23 /18/ 3 my two oldest joined the military and I am beyond thankful for them. They are amazing humans, so I feel accomplished and think I did a good job with whatever I was given. But I understand your message. Thanks for your wise words.

I had a wonderful mom, I had a wonderful husband and your words spoke to my heart. I lost that sweet man last year but I know he felt the same as you do. He had a wonderful mom too. I always appreciate when a man opens a door for me. Never looked at like why are you doing that I can do it. This world we live in has lost so much of the values that we grew up with. I have 6 children and I hope I have raised them to understand being their mother has been a gift and I hope they learn to appreciate what motherhood means. I did not work outside the home , my mom did not. I had a wonderful husband who appreciated me and never took for granted what a hard job it was. Thank you for these words you have spoke from your heart and they are true words. So many people have lost their way. Thank you for not being afraid to speak your mine. This mother really appreciated hearing it.

It is one of the best videos you have posted, really. And with every “scratchy” comment it just got better; there was nothing scratchy about it from my old male’s perspective. You said "I have regrets in the way I have raised my children". With the context you said that, I believe a lot more sons and daughters are in dire need to hear those words from their parents. I am not saying all those (including yours) wher raised in a wrong way. But hearing the words, "I regret my actions" could have a strong healing affect.

Great video Dewayne..I'm a 5th generation Ky mountain man myself. You hit the nail on the head on this topic. It's a disgrace toward men and even worse toward women..Women are the glue that holds the family together..
They nurture the family and the man provides protection and provides. One dosen't work without the other. Just my 2 cents..I'm 53 and I'll hold the door open for women and certain people.Ive noticed more and more that if you have manners it surprises most people. But I will not change my ways.I will not hold the door for men at or around my age unless they are disabled either.Ive never felt the need too.Just the way I was brought up.

This one is very resonant with me for sure. We share similar life experiences apparently. I heard something a while back that sums it up. "We often get wise too late and old too soon." Some are blessed to begin to get wise a little faster. It's usually brought on by some tough life experiences. I too had a career in law enforcement. Sadly, my children and wife had to experience what you described. Sort fuse but not abusive. As you said those words I know you were trying to make listeners understand your comment. I heard it once and felt it deeply. I made the hard decision to leave that career a little early but I'm at peace with it knowing that my family (specifically my grandchildren) will hopefully get to see a gentler more patient version of me. You keep up the great work sharing the knowledge you have gained, possibly, earlier than some people have.

"All that I am, and all that I hope to be, I owe to my angel mother." -Abraham Lincoln
I can't perfectly echo this sentiment without oversight, but I think I know what Honest Abe was drivin' at. This is probably one of the best expositions I have ever heard concerning the roles of motherhood, femininity, and women. I'm amazed how the women in my life seem so inherently grounded. They're natural homemakers; grounded, forgiving, content, submissive, and self-respecting. Myself, on the other hand... I'm often restless, stubborn, angry, proud, foolish, and bent toward chaos and destruction. I'm learning to let more of that go and replace it with the fulfillment of being a competent caretaker and provider. My wife certainly mothered me a fair bit and consequently enabled a lot of my adolescent behavior, but we are growing together and becoming more balanced as a couple. The last two weeks, I've forgiven myself for a lot of things, set new boundaries, and am learning to channel my anger strategically. I have way more respect for myself than I've ever had. Thank you for this beautiful video honoring the women in our lives who never gave up on us.
