About me (the guy behind the cryptic three T's):
my name is Tom David Frey. I'm half Swiss and half German and have lived in many fantastic places, from the United States to Israel. Somehow cool.
My age? Well, it rapidly changes. But you can surely do the math: I was born in 1992, somewhere in a small town in mid-Rhineland-Palatinate.

This video is really one sided you didn’t say any benefits of the go pro being better. It has 240 frames per second which is twice more then the Dji

According to other review, audio and AF for osmo pocket was improved, they even put back the 1080p 120fps... have you check the updated firmware?

Best comparison of these that I"ve seen. You covered just about everything I wanted to know. Excepting log/protune functions, and more on ability to use external mics (saw the graphic at the end). I was curious to see that you rated the osmo as better in audio. To me it sounded tinny. Not sure if that was due to software wind mitigation or not. In any case, Thanks -H

Hi Tom! This completely test is very well, and new OSMO is vell too. But is very interesting an technical test OSMO like 'Sharpness, Color Accuracy, Line Skipping, Sensor' test in your video for cameras of Mavic 2 vs Pantom 4 drones.. Thanks
What do you recommend the osmo or the gopro? I am a video professional and I would like one of the two cameras
I own Both. GoPro’s wins are 4K in Time lapse and stable hyper lapses but everything else goes to the Osmo Pocket if your looking for more cinematic footage.
The gimbal is the difference maker. And the fisheye look of the GoPros footage screams “action camera”
Tom, I am a fan of the Osmo Pocket but for vlogging the wide field of view of the GoPro really gives the viewer a more immersive sense of place. I would love to see DJI or a third party make a light weight rectilinear wide angle adapter that attaches like the soon to be available ND filters. Thanks for your videos
Please test shortest focus distance for both camera. Which one will be clear and more better?
Honestly they have 2 opposite applications - ones and extreme sports camera it's very strong and robust but lacks the quality of stabilisation that the osmo pocket has and there was no pocket as a lot more professional capabilities about it so they can't really be compared to each other but I love how you go in-depth and show a lot of detail in this video mate it is really good knowing the differences so therefore you can choose which application you want to use it for 👍🏼
Is the Audio before the actual Firmwareupdate?
A comparison of low light is where I’ve seen a huge difference in these too.
Thank you very much for this video - it has helped me make a decision. I really would "like" to want the DJI and I love some of the features, but the lack of removable battery and the fact that it is not waterproof means I cannot use it for my main goal - hiking and outdoors. I'm going to look at some other action cameras to see if I can find a good balance - because I really don't like the fish-eye of the GoPro either :) There has to be SOME camera out there that will work best :)
Can someone help me with a Osmo Mimo app issue?
So funny when another youtuber compare action camera with vlogging camera where main contest is vlogging :P. Maybe next time mount both cameras to the helmet and jump of the plane, or take a back country ski ride? ;).
Never heard about the advantage of GPS on the Gopro. A real must for a Traveller in my opinion

3:20 GoPro always do better in stabilization but at this part it's a little bit strange

I think both small cameras are excellent. The reason I decided on the Osmo Pocket is that I don’t really do much action sport things that I would need the GoPro for. I mostly take film when needed to record events, family outings, trips, etc. the Osmo Pocket fits me better for those things.
What if you defish GoPro footage? Same results as DJI but still wider angle. Correct?
Not sure if you're familiar with the gopro but you can change the FOV to different settings.. some are more fisheye, some less. Set the FOV to Linear and it's pretty much done for you in camera, no fisheye
@@Shaneo613 I know. But I recon that you can 'defish' the wide angle footage too.

This is the second Osmo Pocket review clip that shows a slight lag-out of sync -audio for Osmo Pocket. Guessing it’s an easy software update fix, but the audio isn’t in sync.

I wanted to know whether the Osmo gimbal can be locked at a specific angle? (I know that this is not the idea behind a gimbal).
But I'd like to use it while flying, attached (at a fixed angle) to my airplane's wing.

Daniel Wisniak you can select an object for the gimbal to focus on (such as the airplane wing) and the Osmo will make sure that it remains in the center of the frame

U can set it to LINEAR to eliminate distortion
why not set the GoPro to linear mode so it doesn’t look distorted.
I've just ordered my Osmo Mobile and am sadly parting with my original Osmo - well not so sadly as the audio was useless and DJI never updated the firmware to give it face tracking. Still I got good use out of it.
Moira O'Brien i just sold my Osmo as well. Audio quality was indeed sad but the footage was nice
Hey Tom, you forgot to mention all the accessories that dji made for the Osmo Pocket like connecting your phone; adding a 3.5mn jack ; or adding a stick or Tripod and the 60m waterproof case ?????

I have a question.
I have a fantastic camera in my Samsung Note-9.
If I want stabilized footages, would you recommend me to purchase the Osmo mobile with my Note-9, or purchase the Osmo pocket?

DJI improved the sound quality of Osmo. I reckon Tom hasn't updated yet. Try to search other Osmo videos on youtube that is using a new firmware.
a lot of blue tint on your video. Cam problem or you edit it ? the best build in mic has x3000. but sony don't make new action cam :).

I’d really like to know if you or anybody else thinks it’s worth getting if you already own the Hero 7 ? I understand the differences but no one is going out on a limb and saying yes it’s worth buying even if you own a Gopro. Any thoughts?
Which is better for dance videos?
GoPro for me. More durable and audio is better. Also if you set to the Linear FOV mode on the GoPro Hero 7, it then has less of the fisheye look to it.
gopro also got a new update, better low light performance
HERO7 can 1080@240, in this video mistake - 1080@120!
I think GoPro HyperSmooth can't work at 4K, while it obviously works fine with the Osmo Pocket.

The sound of the Osmo Pocket has been improve in later firmware than is present in this video. Both cameras sound good enough
I have both. Both are good depends on the situation
One misstatement about the audio... the GoPro has an external 3.5mm connector for a mic. As of the time of writing this comment, the USB-C is NOT available from DJI. Thus, ONLY the GoPro has an external mic solution.
Hey Tom - I just read something that I hope is not true - the Osmo Pocket is only rated for 400 charges, the battery is not replaceable, and that it is only warrantied for 6 months? If this is the case then it'll be @GoProUK 7 for me..... any knowledge on this as DJI haven't come back to me?
