I own the 8500W machine, has worked very well for us, not loud at all. We did have to replace the cable tension monitor once but ever since that been working super well zero malfunctions.
The older 8500Ws were good machines, the new ones not very good. The cable tension monitor was a common issue on all the jackshafts, I'm glad they finally got rid of it
Thank you for your review on this one. I just installed an 87504-267. I like how quiet it is. I like how it runs. I like the LCD wall control panel. The only thing I don't like is the light. There is no light aiming up towards the ceiling, so you don't get all that indirect light bouncing off the ceiling. But the biggest think I don't like is: The light is too bright, and too white. It is almost blindingly bright when I get near it and the pure white annoys me somehow. I am considering taking it back and getting the 84505R, only because of the light. But it sounds like the 87504 is a lot quieter, and the 84505's light might be just as bright, still in your face, and still aiming only "down." I'm wondering if I can put some type of window film over the lens of the 87504 to dull down the brightness of the light . . . Thank you again! Rick
I'm not the biggest fan of how they did the lights on their new openers, and for some reason they changed them from 3000 lumens on the WLED to 2000 on the 87504. It would be nice if they included a feature to change the brightness or color of the lights. As for directing the light towards the ceiling I'm not sure how you'd go about as you'd lose the light that's aiming toward the ground. The 84505R's lights are worse then the 87504, it doesn't really do a great job at directing the light through the entire garage and they aren't as bright
Having the option to change the brightness and/or color temperature would be perfect! Have you been inside the 87504? I'm thinking the LED ring should have a plug onto the board. I could unplug it, and then install a wireless 827LM light on the ceiling. I'm now thinking I should stick with the 87504. Do you agree?
I've taken one apart and it's just a connector you can unplug if you don't want the lights. The 827LM is a similar color and not as bright as the lights on the 87504, but it does a better job with dispersing the light. If you're deciding between keeping the 87504 or switching to an 84505 I'd personally stick with the 87504
Ps. Can I install 2, wired, wall control panels, with motion sensors, to the same unit? I have the 880LMW by our kitchen door. When we enter the outside entrance door the motion detector doesn't turn the light on until we're 3/4ths way into the garage. I'd like to put a second motion detector by the outside entrance door.
I’m not a fan of any of the new LM machines. LiftMaster just announced they’re removing the swivel on the camera and 6’ cord from the 87504. They keep pulling features and options out while increasing their prices on motors that are nosier than the comparable Genie and Marantec models. The 87504 is definitely the better option but still not a fan of that machine.
I don't like any of the new chamberlain/liftmasters other then a couple of the lower end ones, they're just doing little things to cut costs and make more money off their openers, sad to see them drop like this, it's gonna bite them in the ass once they start getting more and more failed parts that they have to replace under warranty... unless they decide to change the warranty to be shorter which wouldn't be surprising
My Chamberlain B4545 is quieter and nicer looking than that thing. I’d prefer Chamberlain Blue rather than the new bland color scheme of their modern openers. Edit: Thanks Chamberlain and LiftMaster, no need to advertise the fact that the openers are “Powered By myQ”. We all effing know. 🥴

Yes you can install multiple wired buttons to this opener and both will be fully functional
