You forgot something about the ducky that is actually a good selling point, it doesn’t need any software to work or change in between light/macro profiles, it is all saved on the board 👍🏻
I built myself a budget custom board, and I just cannot go back to prebuilt boards. However, Anne pro 2 and ducky one 2 mini definitely deserve a recommendation. For me, personally, the Anne pro 2 got me into the 60% design, customization and in general made me inquisitive about keyboards.
You could've also added the Keychron K6, which is 65%, bluetooth and starts at 70$. For and additional 30$ you'll also get RGB backlightning, an aluminium frame and hot-swap sockets. The stabs come pre-lubed; the major downsight are the stock keycaps (ABS, feel rather cheap).
I bought the Vortex Race 3 RGB MX silent red switches (75% keyboard) some weeks ago and I am pretty happy with it. It's the perfect mixture between a keyboard for gaming (my desk is really small) but also for other productivity-related stuff like writing text or programming. My cousin has a 60% and the missing f-keys and the missing arrow keys are really bad if you are used to them. I found 75% Keyboards to fit my needs as a hybrid between gaming and productivity pretty well.
In my opinion get the Anne Pro 2. The Anne Pro 2’s advantage over this list is the customizability with key functionality. Using the software you can even move things like your Fn key so you can access your F1-12 while using one hand (I swapped my Fn with my windows key) this simple swap basically negated my fear of leaving behind tkl layouts. Also QMK works on this keyboard so tinkerers can literally make this thing do anything they want with it
@@dimarco1226 yes I’m still Using it now. Only thing that sucks is it’s not hot swappable but I only use it for FPS so I just use linear switches but I love it that I can make any key do anything even the windows and function modifier key. The software to do it is basic but gives you what you need.
Im using the CK61 in Red Switches and i lubed the switches and mod the stabilizers. A great keyboard for the value, been using it for 2 months and no complaints honestly after the stabilizer mod and lubed switches the keyboard is wayy better and worth it.
You NEEDED to include the HK Gaming Venus in this list. It is incredibly competitively priced for what you get. I barely see anyone talking about this board, but it is one of the best on the market.
I don't like to be preachy, but they are a pretty shady company. I'm neutral with companies making clone keycap sets, but to challenge and dare the keycap designer in question to sue them is really, really taking it a step too far (i cant remember who but that particular designer made a post on r/mk about their email communications). Eventhough their products are really good for the price, their interactions with fellow community members left a sour taste in my mouth :/
If you're looking for a keyboard that doesn't sound rattly on stock, I highly recommend picking up the Anne Pro 2. All the firmware updates pretty much resolved the bluetooth issues it had on release. I got mine for roughly 60 usd on gateron reds. But you also have other switch options like kaihl box and cherry mx. Imho, cherry mx red sounds so much scratchier than gateron reds.
Running the Asus ROG Falchion for gaming and I am loving it for the most part. I did install O-ring dampers on all keys which resolved the bottoming out noise and it feels excellent. However, There is an Achilles heel. I have large hands and so using the left Shift key when sprinting in Warzone etc. I tend to put pressure on left hand side of the key which is using a metal wire with stabilisers and the key can bind up once the pressure across the key is not centred and I have died multiple times because the key got stuck as a result. Love the vids /peace
I wanted to get my first mechanical and 60% keyboard (never had either). I needed something budget so I went with the Redragon K530. Cost about $60, has really good build quality for the price, a ton of awesome features that you normally wouldn't find at the price (it has Bluetooth with 3 different connections that you can switch between, although I use it wired). It has Brown switches which I really like as it's a good balance between Blue and Red (I've tried both). Oh and yeah the switches are hot swappable, and it comes with one Black, Red, and Blue switch so you can try them out before you go and buy a new set. Definitely a great budget option (I think it's cheaper now), and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a budget 60% mechanical keyboard. As an FPS gamer (Apex Legends baby), I'm never going back to a bigger keyboard.
Brown is not a good balance between red and blue. Red is a linear switch, blue a clicky tactile switch and brown is a normal tactile switch. You should lube the switches to get a better sound.
Been using a Ducky Mecha Mini for nearly a year and I love the keyboard, especially with the bottom 4 right special keys remapped to arrow keys without FN. Having the fully metal chassis also improves the bottoming out sound, it’s all but gone, and weighs a metric ton lmao
I’ve been gaming on 60% for years and so many people give me weird looks. I love it and of you use the FN you don’t lose any functionality. I really want to build a 60% with a split space bar with the function key in the middle so that I can hit it with my thumb instead of pinky.
@Jai Pant rn I don't think you'll be able to order cause of covid, but you can look at options from banggood(mk/sk61), they're really good, with a bit of generic lube from Amazon they sound amazing as well
@Jai Pant I don't think AliExpress has keyboards, but I don't have any experience with that, also the reviews were sketchy, my recommendation would be to go with banggood if you're interested in a budget build
@Jai Pant sk64 you'll be able to get in a few months from meckeys.com at a very good price (it's a safe site don't worry), but 205g0 you won't find anywhere in India, you'll either have to order in internationally, or if it's your 1st time building a keyboard, you can go for a semi thick silicone lube from Amazon, it'll save you a LOT of money any barely makes a difference if you don't have the ear for it
I love my huntsmen mini with the red switches. But I modded it a lot. It came sounding pretty nasty. But I did the foam mod. I tighten up every single stabilizer on the switches. I lubed the long stabilizers with krytox GPL205. I use 2-3 o-rings on every single key cap to dampen the depress strokes “and that made a huge difference believe it or not”. I switched out the key caps for pudding for the rgb. With those simple mods it’s so quite and sounds like a membrane keyboard now and I honestly love that. It’s so quite you don’t hear anything but has a great feel extremely smooth key stroke that you don’t get with a membrane keyboard. And I also did the magnetic quick disconnect cable to make for easy movement around the house and to store it when not in use being it came with no dust cover.
I got a Ducky One 2 Mini for half the price on FB Marketplace, barelly used (no wear on main keycap) and still warranty for 1 year, original cable, all the additional keycap and he still had the box, for anyone looking for a good keyboard but for a good price, it's always worth the shot to look on the used market.
Just got the HyperX Alloy Origins 60 percent keyboard with red switches recently and it's an awesome keyboard for gaming and just typing in general! Also it is really heavy which I like since it never really moves around on your desk.
Everyone is talking about gaming with these keyboards but these keyboards are also amazing for programming. I got the Ducky One 2 Mini (Mecha) last year and you can easily remap the arrows to HJKL. All remaps are done straight from the keyboard so there is no need to install any software. So if you're using tools with vim keybindings you can now keep your fingers on HJKL for tools without vim keybindings as well. I have caps lock remapped to enter the first layer which will turn HJKL into left, down, up & right.
65% is easily my fav. I went from full size to tkl to 65%. I am currently on the kbd67lite hotswap board. I used gateron cap yellow(gold) because they are great for gaming and typing. These switches are lubed from the factory.
@@iJansport i never use page up down and home , delete button i do miss on my corsair k65 mini , i do have razer blackwidow v3 mini , and i can't use those small actuation point switches as i rest my fingers on my keyboard and they register , cherry mx red is nice for me , but this k6( mini is uncomfortable for me so high

Did not know the Asus Falchion existed. Thanks for that. Had a Drevo Blademaster Pro and it broke in a year. Using a Corsair K63 wireless but angle is too low for me. Was leaning towards Logitech G915 tkl because I want wireless, but will give the Asus a shot instead!
Don’t sleep on Durgod! I have the Hades, which is 65% but the Venus is a 60% version. I’m a mk addict and I’ve built $1200 boards. No exaggeration, the Durgods are just as high quality, if not better, than many keyboards that cost over 10 times as much. The Durgods use a thick aluminum case, heavy backplate, foam sound deadening, full featured software and internal memory for driver-free usage, best stabs in the industry (absolutely ZERO rattle on the shift and space), and they’re available to order with all the best switch options (which all come lubed from the factory). I’ve been using my Hades with Cherry Silent Reds as my work keyboard (so 40+ hours per week) for the past year and it still feels brand new. Actually it feels even better now that the Cherrys are broken in. Can’t recommend these boards enough.
Hey great content, can’t wait for your next tech review. Was wondering what your thoughts are on Parvum Systems PC cases and Rama Works new upcoming machined aluminum case?
The motospeed CK61 looks like a Christmas tree at 09:36.. damn.. And Ali, taking the chance here, would like to see a "Finding the best 65% Keyboard" video !! Would certainly be nice !!
You need to get the HK Gaming Durgod Hades 68 and the Venus. They are fantastic for the price and the stabs are really good too! I personally use a 65% keyboard myself as I need the extra keys and the shorter space/shift/enter really don’t bother me. Great video as always 👍🏻
@@lordeddardstark769 so about that.. I opened up my Hades and it now comes with foam inside it. I got mine a few months back with Gat Yellows. Lubed the switches and everything. That’s when I realised the foam. It’s thin, but it’s there..
@@atthelord yeah I've had mine for about a year, maybe the newer ones have it but I just used some packing foam and most of the pinging went. That metal frame is much better than the plastic ducky one
the mecha mini (effectively the one 2 mini with a full aluminum case) imo sounds better than the plastic version, but it’s obviously more expensive as well, the stabs are really shockingly good if you’re coming from a Corsair keyboard.
I bought a Razer Huntsman Mini with Red Switches about a month ago, I came from a BlackWidow Elite and I absolutely love it! I bought it 15% cheaper through education bonus, and I foam-modded the case and spray-lubed all of the swiches, now it’s almost inaudible.
"zero" rattle on the ducky one 2 mini is a bit of an overstatement since theres still a decent amount of rattle from an enthusiast perspective, still relatively good compared to other gaming keyboards
The Mecha Mini or one of the special edition Mecha's with the arrow keys take the cake for me. I have both, and I can decide which I like the most. I think $109 for the mecha mini is probably the best bang for your buck. Solid RGB, Good stabilizers, All-metal housing, and switches of your choice ( I have the silvers for an extra $10 on both).
i think the build quality of the hunstman mini has gotten better, i tried one at my local jbhifi and there was no rattle at all, it was completely smooth
I've got a logitech g pro keyboard for every day use, and a ducky mecha mini with custom soldered hotswap sockets. Love both the keyboards for their use cases. Also thank you for not smashing the keys like other reviewers for the sound tests!
yeah, it's also the one that breaks your wallet the most i get it, build quality, customization, feeling, and so on, but a keyboard should not cost as much as a mid ranged gpu (when gpus are priced like gpus, not like small used cars)
I have got the Keymove 61. It's a pretty unknown brand but it has got everything that I want as a keyboard: Bluetooth 5.0 or higher No floating keycaps 60% Function and arrow keys (they are layered but that personally doesn't bother me in the slightest) Mechanical Hot swappable Every key right next to eachother with no spacing in between them Bulky USB C Not a requirement of mine but it has also got RGB for the people who find that of great importance
I am currently typing on a GK64, which is a 60% keyboard with squished arrow block in the corner. From time to time I upgraded various parts of it to better ones so it sounds and feels pretty good now.
I love my Ducky One 2 Mini with Silent Red Switches. Feels really comfortable and sounds quite nice without any customizations on the switches. Besides that I‘m using a Keychron K6 on my Mac with Red Switches. It‘s a 65% layout (sweetspot for me), but uses ABS Keycaps, and it shows. Besides that, it‘s a nice keyboard as well
I love my Ducky One 2 Mini. I considered doing a full custom keyboard, but instead I just got the Ducky in white and a new wooden case from kbdfans for it (which besides looking great also has the benefit of sounding much better than the stock plastic case). Swapping the internals from the stock to the wooden case took like 10 mins. Super easy. It's a great way to get a custom looking keyboard fast.
i got my dygma raise a few days ago. it uses a 60% layout, but also has 8 extra buttons for the thumbs, and its a split keyboard. i can never go back to a regular board, i love it. im using kailh speed copper with varmilo pbt keycaps.
Would love to see you cover more of the "boutique" options in these comparisons. The new Cannon Keys Bakeneko60 and the Rama Kara, for example. It'd be great to show others how those stack up to the "mass market" options presented here. The Tofu was a tease for exactly this. Good to see the Anne Pro 2 sneak in there at the end. Mine is still kicking, and I've put some Mill-Max hotswap sockets with Durock T1 switches in it to bring it into the modern age. Wish I could fix the Bluetooth connection, though...
Is mechanical versus membrane a personal thing for gaming? Like do mechanical actually offer an advantage as I don't miss those sounds as a laptop user!
You should have a look at the Keychron K6 either the base model or the aluminium hot swappable version; BT or wired can be paired to 3 devices, 65% so a touch more forgiving than 60%, Mac or Win support, USB type C, no bloatware and onboard lighting control. Only cons I've found is non standard layout and needs special keycaps and the keys are ABS but they are decent so I'm not worried. I've been blown away by the quality and feels really good to type with for a budget board. I picked up the non hot swappable version on special for $69aud, as it's my first 65% from TKL I wanted to see if I'd like it rather then spend the extra. I definitely would have gone the hot swappable version if I'd know I'd be this happy with it but in saying that the optical browns feel great and I'm more than happy with them. I genuinely think the typing experience is way nicer and feels more premium than some of the top end Corsair, Razer and Logitech's I've tried or owned.
This is a rabbit hole for sure. Would you kindly do a video comparing lubed linears to optical switches, both on prebuilt keyboards but also on a gk61 optical to see which is the smoothest feeling? Plus, some other good 60/65% keyboards are: the vortex pok3r, gk64, and fnatic streak.
IMO best cheap 60 % keeb "everyone" can build: GMMK Compact hot-swap (do band-aid mod and lube stabs with thick lube), then get some cheap decent quality PBT keyset, and finally get some custom switches (my choice is Kaihl BOX switches, love my clicky BOX Jade switches for typing, but they are super loud and not best for gaming). SERIOUSLY, get switch tester kit with multiple type of switches (clicky, tactile and linear) before you buy full switch kit, it saves you alot money in the long run!
I end up grabbing the Corsair K65 RGB Mini last week. I like, especially coming from a full size keyboard. For gaming it's perfect. I always ended up bumping my hand on the keyboard prior and this solves that.
65% for me. Can't live without my arrow and navigation keys. The Royal Kludge rkG67 is a pretty decent keyboard. It has 2.4 ghz wireless connection for better latency than bluetooth and is moddable af.
Durgod Venus is a good competitor for the ducky, but I prefer durgod due to one reason. The space bar is rounded and very comfortable. For games like Apex, the space bar is one change you notice the most. As for the rest of it, the stabs are one of the best off the shelf, and the sound is quite nice being lubed.

Using the software you can even move things like your Fn key so you can access your F1-12 while using one hand (I swapped my Fn with my windows key) this simple swap basically negated my fear of leaving behind tkl layouts. Also QMK works on this keyboard so tinkerers can literally make this thing do anything they want with it
I'm new to PC gaming 1 year later do you still recommend this keyboard ?
@@dimarco1226 yes I’m still
Using it now. Only thing that sucks is it’s not hot swappable but I only use it for FPS so I just use linear switches but I love it that I can make any key do anything even the windows and function modifier key. The software to do it is basic but gives you what you need.

I don't like to be preachy, but they are a pretty shady company. I'm neutral with companies making clone keycap sets, but to challenge and dare the keycap designer in question to sue them is really, really taking it a step too far (i cant remember who but that particular designer made a post on r/mk about their email communications).
Anne pro 2 for me. I’ve had great (and expensive) custom boards and they were amazing but the pro 2 is such a damn good deal imo.
facts, got mine few months ago and its been perfect for me, gaming and typing for school work.
My Anne pro doesn’t work on ps5 any idea why?

@@qesho5748 box reds
Running the Asus ROG Falchion for gaming and I am loving it for the most part. I did install O-ring dampers on all keys which resolved the bottoming out noise and it feels excellent. However, There is an Achilles heel. I have large hands and so using the left Shift key when sprinting in Warzone etc. I tend to put pressure on left hand side of the key which is using a metal wire with stabilisers and the key can bind up once the pressure across the key is not centred and I have died multiple times because the key got stuck as a result. Love the vids /peace
oh yeah this is the video I've been waiting for 😍
I wanted to get my first mechanical and 60% keyboard (never had either).
Red dragons browns are a linear switch I have the same one.
Ok so the test didn’t do justice in this video; but the huntsman mini (linear switch) that he used is super duper insanely quiet. Like,
Been using a Ducky Mecha Mini for nearly a year and I love the keyboard, especially with the bottom 4 right special keys remapped to arrow keys without FN.
Whoa that rattle was hardcore. :D
Got my Anne Pro 2 for $45 in China. Can't beat that value.

@Jai Pant international orders bro, kinetic labs, and a few others, kinetic labs majorly
Great video and superb editing as always. Did u got the chance to test the HyperX Alloy Origins 60?
I got a Ducky One 2 Mini for half the price on FB Marketplace, barelly used (no wear on main keycap) and still warranty for 1 year, original cable, all the additional keycap and he still had the box, for anyone looking for a good keyboard but for a good price, it's always worth the shot to look on the used market.

Coincident, I just bought a razer huntsman mini today, with the linear switches and I'm loving it so much❤️😋
I would honestly also have the Hyperx Origins 60% keyboard too - it’s quite good for under a 100 dollars

You need to get the HK Gaming Durgod Hades 68 and the Venus. They are fantastic for the price and the stabs are really good too!
I personally use a 65% keyboard myself as I need the extra keys and the shorter space/shift/enter really don’t bother me.

1000% Agree my Hades is much better than my ducky in key aspects. One thing I'd add is some dampening foam in the case as it's quite pingy
@@lordeddardstark769 so about that.. I opened up my Hades and it now comes with foam inside it. I got mine a few months back with Gat Yellows. Lubed the switches and everything. That’s when I realised the foam. It’s thin, but it’s there..

the mecha mini (effectively the one 2 mini with a full aluminum case) imo sounds better than the plastic version, but it’s obviously more expensive as well, the stabs are really shockingly good if you’re coming from a Corsair keyboard.
I bought a Razer Huntsman Mini with Red Switches about a month ago, I came from a BlackWidow Elite and I absolutely love it!
I bought it 15% cheaper through education bonus, and I foam-modded the case and spray-lubed all of the swiches, now it’s almost inaudible.
man this channel is growing on me
"zero" rattle on the ducky one 2 mini is a bit of an overstatement since theres still a decent amount of rattle from an enthusiast perspective, still relatively good compared to other gaming keyboards

What’s your opinion on one-handed “half-size” keyboards for gaming?
I am currently typing on a GK64, which is a 60% keyboard with squished arrow block in the corner. From time to time I upgraded various parts of it to better ones so it sounds and feels pretty good now.

@@Goatlence The GK61 does not have arrow key my guy. He definetly mean GK64.
Do you ever have a look at compact, thin keyboards? Seems I'm in the minority of liking these very "SFF" keyboards, for general use and portability.
Besides that, it‘s a nice keyboard as well
what about the wooting 60 he?
I love my Ducky One 2 Mini. I considered doing a full custom keyboard, but instead I just got the Ducky in white and a new wooden case from kbdfans for it (which besides looking great also has the benefit of sounding much better than the stock plastic case). Swapping the internals from the stock to the wooden case took like 10 mins. Super easy. It's a great way to get a custom looking keyboard fast.
Is the ducky one two still worth it in 2022? I was told it’s not, but I want it because it’s small, quiet, and relatively cheap.

Mechanical feels a lot better, sound better and just better quality. If you get a hot swappable keyboard you can just choose what switch you want.
Usually mechanical keyboards have a better typing feel and depending on the switch they can register presses faster or using less force
they are faster, especially when you get used to them!
Have you tried any Keychron boards?
Love my new K6.
This is a rabbit hole for sure. Would you kindly do a video comparing lubed linears to optical switches, both on prebuilt keyboards but also on a gk61 optical to see which is the smoothest feeling?

SERIOUSLY, get switch tester kit with multiple type of switches (clicky, tactile and linear) before you buy full switch kit, it saves you alot money in the long run!
