    Thank you so much for making this! Ik it’s probably embarrassing to say but I’m gonna pick up my 99 4Runner soon and I was so scared about messing up the 4wheel drive. And this vid helped me so much!!

    I've had my 4Runner limited since April 1999. I've never used the 4x4 shifter at all. Now I'll need it soon where my new home is. The county won't fix my road and so I'll need to rock climb a bit at 5 mph for 2,000 ft. Straight, and then up a 20-degree slope. thanx a bunch for the video.

    Just to note some model comes with diff lock: My 2000 limited comes with diff lock so that is just an extra step. Works only in 4-low. Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks for the explanation between N and 4low. I read the manual and decided to mess around and I kept hearing a grinding and then a clunk when I went into 4low. Not sure why, same thing going out like it wouldn’t want to go out of N without some force and a loud grind. But I will definitely try the hard forceful quick shift like you suggested.

    • @4WheelKid
      @4WheelKid  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no problem! yeah super common to hear that grinding if you go slow, gotta shift quick like you mean it and make sure the vehicle transmission is neutral

      My 1999 4Runner limited has an electronic differential lock that is engaged using a button on the dashboard, not through the shifter on the transfer case. This is a different setup than the one shown in this video.

    To go from 2 Wheel Dr. to full-time four-wheel-drive you don’t even need to stop or put it in neutral just hit the 4 Wheel Drive button and it will automatically shift on the fly @ or under 62 mph but if you want to go from full-time four-wheel-drive to part-time four-wheel-drive, you will need to stop and shift neutral Then hit the center differential lock button it will flash 3 times to show that is engage to engage four-wheel-drive low from 4 Wheel . Hi, you will need to stop shift into neutral shift to 4 Wheel Drive. Lever too four low then back to drive into disengage, you do all this in a reverse direction

    good morning and happy Sunday I have a 4x4 off-road vehicle model Suzuki Jimny 4x4 with an internal combustion engine m13a petrol from the year 2001 all original and I mounted the free hubs instead of the automatic hubs so when I use my Suzuki Jimny 4x4 with only the 2 rear drive wheels I select the manual hubs in 2wd and then when I go off-road I have to select 4wd on the manual hubs and then I select 4wd h or 4wd low of the reducer inside my Suzuki Jimny 4x4 off-road vehicle I use the 4WD only in case of snow on asphalt and on dirt tracks and I insert the 4wd low on rural and forest dirt tracks with the presence of mud or snow!

    I just got a 96 hilux from Japan, same exact shifting system, just RHD...and a 3.0 turbo diesel. Unfortunately the rear diff is making noise. The JDM stuff came with Limited Slip in the rear. Americans got the e-locker option in the rear. ...not sure what I wanna do yet, rebuilt or swap in a 4runner rear end.

      nice, I had the muffler and some pipe replaced at a muffler shop like 4 years ago, they just used a regular muffler, it sounded the same with the old muffler too before it rusted out, I have driven another 4runner and it was much quieter. maybe the oem like mufflers they use at the exhaust shop are not as quiet as the original oem. not sue haha. but I wasn't trying to make it louder. does sound pretty good without being annoying. thanks God bless

      low rang and high range? low is for rock crawling off road. gives you higher torque multiplication but lower speed

    greetings from Florence Italy good evening I have a legitimate question if possible you can give me the correct answer (good morning can you tell me why many owners of 4x4 par time vehicles are called 4wd low in English? wet asphalt when it rains they insert the 4x4 hello the fast 4x4 since many 4x4 vehicles do not have a center differential??)

    • @4WheelKid
      @4WheelKid  ปีที่แล้ว

      hey thanks for stopping by, I don't think I fully understand your question but 4wd low means it changes the gear ratio in the transfer case so it turns your regular gears into a low set of gears

    • @lmalesci
      @lmalesci ปีที่แล้ว

      Sometimes its takes a bit for it to get out of 4x4 the system uses engine vacuum with solenoids so could be a vacuum leak somewhere
