NOTE
There is no requirement to pull a spread test in our demonstration because we are not looking for flow ability - we are performing a "Slump" test and testing for consistency.
We were not out to determine whether or not the concrete needed a flow test; rather, we're simply demonstrating the proper method for performing ASTM C-143 Standard Test Method for Slump of Hydraulic-Cement Concrete.
When shooting multiple takes in a lab setting and continuously washing our equipment, our 5" slump quickly moved to about a 9-1/2".
Please don't post comments about a need to perform a spread test, based on the appearance of the slump.

As a retired mixer truck driver I had my share of slump test preformed on my loads in my life time, and proud to say I never was caught with a soft load. Now that the test is over its up to the contractor to ask for and sign my tag for any water to be added, at that point concrete strength is his problem.
I like being tested, lets me know I am where I thought I was.
As soon as the owner walks away, more water is added to the truck for easier pumping.

Yup and then you get fired and never work for another concrete company again if im the one that catches you. Youre going let a a whole buildings solid base become dilluted and fall apart on the first pressure because youre too lazy to pump the mix when its correct? Sound like a scumbag. Let it be known, if you get caught doing that, your personal name and company name will be blacklisted on construction sites around the country.

I was never on a job that a slump test was not required. And usually that means they also take cylinder samples for PSI test. And if their going to do the last two test, you can bet many soil compaction test were also taken on the fill before we got as far as this video.

A flow table test would be more appropriate if the slump is very high.

Sounds like a spread test. We use that in certain applications too.
we use self consolidating concrete at my job. to bad aci tests aren't determined by what you do at your job that way I wouldn't have to do the roller meter.
of course when i did the field tests i waited until like 11am b/c i was nervous and the guy I did the tests for had tee time in a couple of hours so he just had me talk him through the roller meter without actually doing it.
once you remove the mold by raising it gradually, and you measure the distance between the TOP in the MOLD, what is the perfect distance that you should measure? 30cm? 40 cm?

Cm? You mean inches? 1 ft = 12 in. Measure to the nearest 1/4 in.

I think this slump test for this batch of concrete fails and not up to standard. the drop of concrete to pass a slump test shall be -/+ 25mm?

As a mixer driver most jobs have a spec that we have to meet. Slump is one of them. Too wet (higher slump) means a weaker product.
Slump is usually a measure of workability of concrete. Workability is the ability to work with concrete such as pouring the concrete. The higher the amount of the water the more workable your concrete but the weaker its strength. So you want to add just the right amount of water to your cement to make sure you can work with it yet it’s strong enough. Usually, that is a 2 to 1 ratio which gives you around 4000 psi or 25 to 30 MPa strength. These are of course all very rough numbers and needs to be tested for concrete.
only thing this test does is compare one truck to another load with the same mix, it doesnt tell you water cement ratio, just unformity
@@layneleavitt2537 high slump does not always mean weak concrete. Can’t tell u how many mix approved mix designs there are that require an 8” slump or higher….because of all the admixtures in the concrete
@@empireaxe8852 You can get a higher slump by using different products, its the water/cement ratio that weakens it.

Anyone interested in an actual slump test is just giving themselves away as not knowing anything about concrete.
It is an outdated test. Slump in the field tells nothing about final strength

Aula Jomaa I did practice tests on line . And watched as many cvideos on density test and slump as I could and air. Just keep watching and keep memorizing the steps.
