    This slump test is not valid per ASTM 143 , this technician is not competent as they did not add concrete in 3 equal layers by volume the third layer was only one scoop where as first and second layers were 2 scoops full of concrete

    What is the designed slump? Otherwise, the slump is too high and is rejected. To resolve a high slump is to give another time to roll the drum again for 5 mins and then check the slump again. I can see a lot of manpower here to do a slump test. It should be 1 concrete technician to do the slump test and 1 helper to manage the transport of fresh concrete to the cube making area.

    Slump test is basically for Concrete mix workability.
    -not too dry.
    -not too watery
    But just right to move and mix thoroughly and easily workable.

    Why do you need all that concrete in the wheel barrel. I'd tell the driver to slowly roll it to the front. Remember they work for you don't let them dump all that concrete. Especially for what 7 cylinders a slump weight and air test!

    This does not indicate precisely what is in the mix, does it. It indicates most of all how much water is in it. With less water in it and certain specific types of sand you may get a real sturdy substance that don't flow much and there also are types of sand that will not want to keep stuck together much. I think is rather the colour that gives you indication of whether enough to of the other ingredients are present - more or less.

    • @kellybell9235
      @kellybell9235 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The slump test is precisely to determine how wet the concrete is. If too wet all the fine sand and concrete will separate from the aggregate making the concrete weak. Cylinders of concrete are also filled to be broken at 7 and 28 days to confirm the strength. The slump test is performed before pouring to reject concrete that is too wet .

      arsalan mujtaba at a slump of 10-100 you have a +-15mm tolerance. @ 100-200mm slump you have 40. 300mm is the height of the slump cone there for a spread test would be done in place

    • @grahamhanbury9427
      @grahamhanbury9427 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You dont wait 2 minutes, you hold the slump cone in place and pull come im a 5 second county. Then measure displaced center from the lip of the flippedf cone. They honestly butchered this test. Also id wager a plasticizer was involved in this batch of ready mix. Would have been useful information for those watching.

    • @F3st0
      @F3st0 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also the cone and plate are too wet. Only meant to be damp. So this test is inaccurate also.

    what is the mean of slum test

    • @WarunaThejana
      @WarunaThejana  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The slump test is a means of assessing the consistency of fresh concrete. It is used, indirectly, as a means of checking that the correct amount of water has been added to the mix.

    • @JohnSmith-ok9sn
      @JohnSmith-ok9sn 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      abdul Ahad
      It is a measure of the 'fluidity', or, how much water is in the mix - the more water, the more 'fluid', soupy, the mixture is.
      Slump is measured in inches - 1 inch slump, (very thick mixture), used for road curbs, for example, where the mixture is needed to sit in the form, without spreading to the sides too much. Footings, on the other hand, may require 4-5 inch slump, (to fill into every corner of the forms, as they pour it).
      The thicker is the concrete mix, the higher the top of the concrete 'cone' will be from the ground, (the closer to the top of the metal cone), so, if the difference between the TOPS of the two cones, (metal, and concrete mix), is 1 inch - you have a 1-inch slump, 2 inches - then, 2-inch slump, 3-4-5 inches - correspondingly.
      The guys in the video had something like 7-inch slump, (which is VERY 'soupy'!). Depending on the country, (latitude), you have to remember to adjust for the ambient heat, humidity, etc..., because, by the time you will have arrived from the plant to the job, you may lose up to 2-3 inches of slump, (the mix will get thicker), due to the heat, air humidity/dryness, etc...
      Those guys where in India, or Pakistan, where it is, naturally, way hotter than, say, in Chicago, IL, therefore, (if the job is far away from the plant), they had to put more water, at the plant, while loading the initial mix, to compensate for the high heat, and low humidity, (if it was in the inner parts of the country), but, to me, it looks like they overdid it, a little. But, hey, I don't know what kind of job they were doing, so, who am I to judge, right? 😃

      which slump is best for construction?less fluid or more fluid? and whats is grade 53, 54 etc?

    • @WarunaThejana
      @WarunaThejana  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Optimum Slump value depends on our application.If we need high workability we need more water.That means high slump value. But we need to consider about the water cement ratio of concrete because it determine the strength of concrete."Grade" is the 28 day cube strength of concrete.
