My house was a one room school house about 100 years ago and the gigantic twin maples are probably 150 yrs old (next to them is thier halloween creepy misfit cousin Maple 3), all providing the perfect spot for a shade garden with morning and late afternoon sun. I've spent more then a month deciding and designing a shade garden. ONE DAY after I hit the "place order now" button for my future shade garden plants, along came the 'tree guys' to trim near the wires on Maple 2. Jim, they didn't stop. They took her right to the ground 😢 She was the main shade provider and apparently sick. I had took a gorgeous couple of pics from last month's full moon and a pink foggy sunrise with the twins being magnificent as ever. I'm so glad I did. Maple 1 looks so sad and Maple 3 looks scarier then ever 😱Now I wonder, do I cancel my order...🤔
That's aweful about your Tree. Our neighbor if you remember in a few videos ago cut down a HUUUGE tree which ironically HELPED me as it provided much more Sunlight for my Greenhouse in the morning. Your Home sounds Charming...with such History too!!!! Sorry I missed this wonderful comment. I don't know what happens but I don't always get notifications 😕
@@Jimswholiestofcoleus Thanks, it's a nice spot. I built a triangular shade garden around a young maple, surrounded by the old schoolhouse fence. It's so eye catching. Lots of hostas and coleus with various colorful flowers out front and a hummingbird feeder in the tree 🙂 Posts get overlooked sometimes , it's all good 😌

@@SolSkinn That is a touching very relative story. I recently lost my Beloved Yorkie Newton (Feb) He went over the Rainbow Bridge. Newton has starred in more than a few of my videos.
I started my seeds several weeks ago and set them in the sun and they are not getting any bigger. It’s like they are stunted. Should I move them to a more shaded area? The seedlings are still just popping through the soil and are not seem to be growing. What am I doing wrong?
Hi Sorry for late reply. You may have planted your seeds under the soil which isn't ideal ....Coleus seeds require light to Germinate so just premoisten the soil...drop seeds down on soil top..then gently press down. Never bury Coleus seeds. Also direct Sun will Certainly overheat & stunt seed growth & slow or stall Germination. The Seedlings need to be covered slightly with a Clear wrap or dome and kept well lit by a window but not baking in direct sun all day. The clear dome or wrap keeps the moisture from evaporation....once you see the Germinations appear...loosen off the wrap or dome to one side to allow air I'm but still prevents evaporation. These new Seedlings need moistened soil...bright day light and warmth to grow. But No direct baking Sun. Hope this helps you
Hi Debbie....No they do not....even though they are considered Perennials....they only reseed themselves in Tropical climates or Southern Non Frost zones. But you can Overwinter them by bringing pots inside...or you can cut a bunch of stems in September....drop each in a bud Vase and Root them. I have loads if videos on keeping Rootings/Cuttings going Fall thru Spring then repot then.
Your plants are so beautiful! I have just one potted coleus that I can’t make happy 😢. I thought it was the few hours of direct afternoon sun it was getting. All the bottom leaves are dropping/ no new growth. Leaves are yellowing or look sun burnt. I try to keep the soil pretty moist and water every 3-ish days. I was watering every 1-2 days but I think it was too much for the pot it’s in.
Hmmm.. Sorry to hear your having difficulty. Can be a few things. Make sure pot has drain holes. Dropping leaves ? Do the leaves have good color? Try increasing the amount of Sunlight. Also try a good water soluable Miracle-Gro General Purpose plant food fertilizer.

Yes!!! Some are as bad as 100+ for days now.

Are leaf cuttings possible from coleus or only stem cuttings?
Although I have never done it...you can root a leaf at the point where the stem would meet it so yes you can Root a Coleus Leaf!
