    Hello my dear friend. This morning, with a calm mind, I watched your videos, on which I made three separate comments, without interruption. This is the fifth video of yours that I have watched without interruption. While watching your videos, I felt like we were talking to each other. I am sure that I understand well that listening to you carefully, patiently and with pleasure would be a virtuous behavior. I understand that you are very sincere and kind-hearted. That's why I enjoy watching your videos. I admired your precious person, your wise ideas and your sincere speeches. That's why I rewinded the video and watched it over and over again. I realized that it is not right to watch too many videos in a hurry. I'm human too and I can make mistakes sometimes. I said to myself that it is not right or even honest to watch wise people who give such sincere presentations with a simple eye, simple logic and simple understanding. I corrected my mistake. I watched it again carefully, patiently and with pleasure. Because I thought that disrespecting a work that you prepared and worked with good intentions should not be a behavior that suits me. I truly appreciate and congratulate you with all my heart, my wise friend. I am sure that it is a great gain and honor for me to listen to your bright ideas. Also, I really admire your kindness and understanding.

      Thanks Cheryl! The huge Saturn Coleus that Ive shown in my recent videos was created by placing the four well Rooted Saturn stems I kept in bud vases all Winter and Spring...then planted in the Miracle grow Potting Soil pot....BOOM!! A good reason why it's so big and healthy was the huge Rootball which developed over the Winter. VERY IMPORTANT....Frequent water changes are a must....At least weekly or 2 times a week if you have the time .

    I’ve been doing this method for several years now and I have beautiful Coleus. I have a friend that saves me the little Jack Daniels bottles and I put my cuttings in them and sit in my kitchen window which holds 20+. I’ve had great success this way, the changing of the water and all. My 1st year I tried saving a whole plant but I lost it 😢. So I tried this out of curiosity and it works every year. I’ve told my friends this is better because they have tried over wintering the whole big plant. Mine are more beautiful and bigger each year. And I also use pots and planters.

      Hi Rebecca.... Lol...Yes they can and will get you hooked!!! As for potting your rootings.... Although there's no specific time to wait.....Once your rootings start to develop Stringy roots you may plant away!!! Don't waste $$ on root hormone either...Most Coleus can actually be cut and placed directly into moist soil and the regular watering will act like a vase and stimulate root growth directly without having to be placed in water.

      Hi Delories.... I keep many Coleus in large planters as Seed Harvesters for my Ebay store "Jims Coleus" and others around my property for Decoration and the Love of them.
      I keep multiple cuttings from specific Coleus which Have not produced Seed stalks such as my Lord Voldemort and Inky Fingers Coleus. Both of which were huge plants....not practical for Overwintering....So I keep them as Rootings thru Fall & Winter....then plant them in my large planters in Late Spring...once again as my Lord Voldemort & Inky Fingers have not Seeded. I do have a Saturn and a potted Inky Fingers as Overwintered plants plus a small Colossal Marble & Crimson Gold because they were too nice to cut down as Mulch....

    • @Jimswholiestofcoleus
      @Jimswholiestofcoleus  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jo.... Actually The Amount of Light is more important than the indoor Temperature!! I once had a large 16" potted Coleus that lasted nearly 3 years inside a very brightly lit glass enclosed vestibule which in the Winter even though heated sometimes got pretty chilly....60° f.
      So regular room temps will be fine...but Its location near the brightest Sunlit Bay window or room....supplemented with an LED Full Spectrum Grow light will give your Coleus a great chance to make it thru Winter. Expect leaf molting...expect less Vibrancy and marked slower growth...but once Spring returns and daylight sun & intensity increases...so too will your Coleus return

      Any Coleus I do choose to keep I Overwinter by bringing a few indoors.....
      NOW THIS IS IMPORTANT ....Before you bring indoors ANY OUTDOOR PLANT....You must treat it for at least 1-2 weeks with a pest eliminator ....I use A natural Pest killing spray Soap.... remove all pest damaged leaves, clear away all debris from soil ....spray liberally the entire plant, top and bottom of leaves as well as soil.... only then will you prevent pests from the Coleus thus infestation of your home and other plants. • @Jimswholiestofcoleus
      @Jimswholiestofcoleus  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I keep a number of rootings in water over Winter..... NOT ALL MAKE IT!! It is very important to keep changing water especially if exposed to sunlight.
      Whatever Rootings do make it through Spring I ABSOLUTELY put in pots or planters.
      Keeping Overwintered potted Coleus indoors can be difficult sometimes because of the dry heat and keeping the soil moist... but not too wet.
      There can be many reasons why your Coleus go limp and die....are you overwatering where the Coleus stem gets slimy??
      Not enough light. Try getting an LED plant light. They will boost the essential light it needs and they are safe....and dont use much electricity at all. Tough to effectively diagnose....you can send me a picture at chewchjz@gmail.com

      Try checking the cut....is it firm or slimy?? Also make sure you trim off all buds under the water line. Try cutting the stem on an angle like cut flowers. Also Do not let your Cuttings bake in direct Sunlight for an extended period of time. I change my water every week minimum.
      One last thing...did you cut your Coleus too late....was it exposed to a frost or even a very cold above freezing night beforehand?? It could be that they were gone already??
      Hang in there. Just so you know I do sell seeds all over the world. $10 and I include favorites like jumbo Pink and Red Kongs, Jitters, Red Defiance, BLACK CHERRY....Wizard Reds and Wizard Kongs. Let me know if interested and I will give you my PayPal email address for payment.

      Thanks for the quick reply. I cut the stalks. Some look better today so maybe a bit stressed. It was chilly but not freezing....hoping a few survive!

    When do u plant outside pls

    • @Jimswholiestofcoleus

      Depending on where you live....if you live in an area where its Always above 60°f or so....Or where your Winters are Frost Free....You can plant and keep Coleus pretty much year around. Here in the US...New Jersey....I don't bring my Coleus outdoors until they are about 4 months old...and Day & night temperatures are above 60°f. Before you do plant Coleus in ground...put the pots outside for 2 hours a day for a week to "Harden" them or to get them accustomed to the outdoors.

    Hello. Thank you for your kind words. Nice to meet you. I am very careful when watching videos on TH-cam. I don't spare time for nonsense things that will waste my time. What am I doing and why am I doing it? I prefer to follow wise people like you who are aware of these. But I value people like you who put effort into great things and do not sit idle and try to produce great things and their words. You are the one who deserves the real compliment. I do chemical mineral analysis. I do the refining, production and recycling of noble metals. I have been working on kolyos type flowers for five years. I can produce two, three, four, five, six and seven colors on the same root kolyos. I can produce 24 different colors from 4 different colored kolyos flowers. Since I admire Allah, the skilful creator, I love those who value his works. I love people who do their jobs intelligently and lovingly, regardless of language, religion, color or race. That's why it's a pleasure and an honor to watch you. I send my greetings from Kütahya. I wish you success in your business.

    Does watering change when over wintering? Do they go dormant?

    • @Jimswholiestofcoleus
      @Jimswholiestofcoleus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jobita...I'm so sorry I missed this Comment. In most cases you may water less depending upon the 🌞 exposure at the Overwintering location....some windows have heat registers as well plus the lack of Winter humidity can dry out a smaller pot pretty quickly

    • @Jimswholiestofcoleus
      @Jimswholiestofcoleus  ปีที่แล้ว

      YES Coleus do enter a bit of Dormancy.....then return as the Sun & Warmth of Spring & Summer return.

    Can I do this any time of the year?

    • @Jimswholiestofcoleus
      @Jimswholiestofcoleus  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Stephen.... Sure you can. Rootings can be done at any time ....and they can remain alive and growing...develop Roots all year.....keep the rootings by a bright window.....preferably not baking in direct sunlight....make sure you rinse and change water every few days.
