I've had my M2 since April and have followed your car on the forums. Was very proud of the progress you were making and appreciated the knowledge you imparted. Porche is definitely the next step.
I remember my new Audi S4 get rear ended like that by a semi-truck. Very similar pattern of damage. The bodyshop tells me that they have to replace the entire trunk pan. I was horrified with a car that only had 1000 miles. When I go to pick the car back up, the guy (who was a dirt-track oval racer) winks at me and says, "We seam-welded the whole trunk". I tell ya, I have never had a more solid car than that one! LOL! And they painted it so perfectly that the dealer did not know it was in an accident. I actually disclosed it to them and they went back out with the paint-thickness meter to re-check it! LOL!
Same thing happened to my brand new M3C last year. Insurance ended up paying €30,000 for the repairs. Make sure they look closely at the exhaust. Mine was pushed in like an accordion as well and it ended damaging some cooling systems under the car as well.
Feel ya. Mine looks very similar at the moment. Was rear ended on the 27th of December. Busy communicating with the insurance of the person who caused the damage. Hope to have it fixed this month. Keeping my fingers crossed for you…
Sorry about your luck . A few months back . I got into a somewhat minor wreck in my G80 . No fault of my own . But still was 22k worth of damage and had to wait over a month for some parts to come in from Germany. I Was successful with my diminished value claim . Best of luck to you
Very unfortunate news . I still think your M2 build progression is one of the best out there and is great for taking certain cues from for many of us M2 owners.Porsches are great vehicle's however do you feel modding it would be conveyed as much on screen as say the BMW platform?
🤣🤣 I was at the Porsche KOP studio yesterday...discussing about the '24 Panamera as a replacement for the G80. Still working out this decision in my head. Keep the G80 and buy the Panamera...wife will probably leave me; Replace the G80 with the Panamera...she prob. will chuck it up to midlife crisis. One will be leaving, don't know which. lol. Sorry about the accident.
Oh yes it can be. Did you notice that OP said that his insurance adjuster already told him that they can’t even get all the parts right now. That right there is enough to total loss the car. Also many times what you see on the outside is nowhere near the damage from the inside. Stuff gets pushed and that’s additional damage that needs to be repaired driving up the cost of the estimate for repairs.
@@johng81818 I own a 2023 M2 as well. These cars are high MSRP, there’s no way they’ll get up to $40k in damage or more on a bumper, tail light, trunk, some structural pieces and paint. He’s banking on parts being back ordered and having a rental for x amount of days. Won’t happen. They’ll get it all sorted and he’ll be stuck battling diminished value for a while.
Dude I just found your channel two days ago and as someone who is waiting for my m2 to arrive I was living through these videos. I’m sorry about the accident. What about another m2?
I am also thinking about this. I have the g87, but you know, after a bmw always a porsche is the next level. Because i like modern interior, the latest 911 is the way. Maybe try 911 carrera T. I am really interwsted what can you make with a “base” 911.
The carrera S or the base would be insane. The 992 is a great platform with a tune and exhaust and you are set. I look forward to your decision and sorry about the M2.. that sucks for sure
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF! Sorry this happened to you man. I've been watching your vids because my wife, and my best friend both ordered M2s that should be delivered this month (I have the G82). Not sure what I'd jump into if my M4 got hit like this.... M5/M8?
lol in the uk they will say it’s a right off for stupid stuff like having a door caved in. They like to right off cars and fix them and sell off or just sell for parts!
With it being so new you might get lucky and some company might total it out just to have parts on hand for other claims they can sell at a premium with them being scarce currently.
911 Carrera T. Then a tune from Flat Six Motorsports. A Carrera T with 7spd with a tune that basically brings you up to Carrera S power level for $2500. You would love that car.
i can't imagine test driving a 911, then going back to an M2 .... oh man that's torture! this is why i never test drive cars above my current level haha
Sorry man! Also don't let the insurance know what you're doing. They're not your friends lol. As for Porsche I'd suggest a Carrera T and spec it exactly how you want.
Love Porsche and would love to one day own a 911. I don't think Porsche's get as much views and clicks as BMWs. The only reason I started following you was because of when you bought the G87 M2. I have been wondering if I should trade in my MKV Supra for the G87 M2 and there weren't a lot of channels with G87 content until I came across yours.
Perhaps you should look into asking for lost revenue since the M2 is part of your business, worth a shot to ask. Also yes, driving a Porsche 911 will ruin you for other cars.
I'll be really surprised if they total it unless you find some subframe damage. Never heard of them talking the cost of the rental into the equation, but that would make sense I guess, esp if you are looking to have it for a long time. I've driven a 2019 911 gt3 rs and dang was that thing insane!!!! I don't know much about them overall, but definitely like them 😎 but it's gotta have a wing 😉
You didn't ruin the car. The fool that wasn't paying attention ruined the car. I been watching your build since you got it, and I hate that this has happened. I'm glad you are ok. Hopefully, you will be made whole on what was a very nice build. I love Porsche too, and that would be an awesome new car as well.
Gutted !! Glad you are ok and the air bags didn't deploy. I think your M2 will be be written off due to the unavailability of parts and the depreciation value which will be a good thing. It is a brand new car and you as an owner would want it to stay that way. As for a base model 992.... great drivers car but not a fan. But with a body kit, wheels, stance, tune & exhaust I could be convinced otherwise 😜
Damn bro that's unfortunate... painful to see especially bc my G87 is the same color, exhaust, inlets, spoiler... Sometimes things happen with all these shit drivers on the road. Even though a 911 (especially one of the GT cars) is the logical "next step" from a G87, you don't usually see them modded very much other than an exhaust. A lot of these mods people doing to their M cars are inspired by what is stock on the GT3RS. Even though the Carerra S is probably fun to drive, it's definitely not the "car guy" trim of the 911, and it's probably not going to get as much attention as the G87 did. I see a lot of cool Turbo S builds, you can definitely make more power, and it's probably not going to depreciate too much compared to a brand new S
Imagine paying 100k for a BASE and it doesnt even have a LSD from factory. And then get gapped by a subaru. Even if u buy the S still after u dump like 10k-20k in it, still the G87 will destroy it. I would not switch ANY G8X-M unless u drop the bomb on a Turbo S wait till the M2 comp comes out or buy a CS.
Shit that sucks man. Hope they will be able to fix it without waiting too long. Please dont switch to a porsche its really not that interesting. they are nice cars but there is so much more modding you can do with Bmw's and theyre cooler imo. Nothing against Porsche but Bmw is just more interesting from a tuners perspective.
I think that Porsche 911 is over-hyped: it has engine behind the rear axle, which makes it difficult to catch the rear-wheels slide (it is much easier in the M2, or any front-engined car). Also the Porsche steering is slow, and the car is annoyingly loud inside, because of booming rear wheel arches. So if you ask me, this Porsche is a kind of a one-trick pony, and the Bimmer is a more well-rounded car, which is also more predictable in its handling, and feels more agile, due to faster steering ratio. One more thought: why not go with Cayman GTS 4.0 ? In my opinion It has better interior (no cheap capacitive touch buttons), and in general it has more of this old-school Porsche vibe, which is quickly going away.
You would think that but after driving it and getting the rear of the car to kick out it was very easy to get it back on track with minimal counter steering
@wheelwrightpl9429 I M sure you haven't driven one. The 911s handle so well at the limit that they feel like a dream. It's totally in control, and you are able to control the rear out so accurately. It feels like magic.
I've had my M2 since April and have followed your car on the forums. Was very proud of the progress you were making and appreciated the knowledge you imparted. Porche is definitely the next step.
Appreciate you David! I agree
Or turn into a track car.
No way bro! Sorry to see - this is devastating! Hope all works out well my man! Stay Positive!

That’s a good question for sure. Maybe the bmw is more relatable?
Sorry to see brother. So very true about diminished value check. Everyone should know about this
I had no idea about this until someone on Bimmerpost mentioned it to mee
went straight to the Porsche dealership, im dead

If this car is totaled could I get some parts from it for some $? I got a g87 and I’m in phx

You’re most likely right. But I’ll keep you posted on what happens. Should know more this week
Definitely look into the turbo S if you're looking for a fast car. If you're looking to mod it and make it look good, then get a newer one.
Turbo s is dummy expensive even the older ones
@jakefox3677 that they are but they are stupid fast too.
Sorry to see this sir. I don’t think they will total it.
Me either but fingers crossed
