Homelessness and the holidays prompt us to consider John the Baptist's wisdom. Although John is unorthodox and outside mainstream ways of life, he is a source of wisdom in our church. Those who are homeless live out in the wilderness and outside of the mainstream as well. Could John be asking us to change our perspective on homelessness? Yes, I believe it is! In addition to seeing their neediness, we can see their wisdom and gifts in the context of a larger community. Sermon based on Isaiah 40:1-11 and Mark 1:1-8.
