  • I tried Durian For The First Time In Thailand, The World's Smelliest Fruit! Durian fruit may be smelly but it has many nutritious health benefits. You have to get past the smell of the Durian first! While in Hat Yai I found a place selling Durian Sticky Rice and figured what better way to try it.

    This set is called durian with sticky rice, like mango sticky rice. Just change from mango to durian. More ripe durian is good for durian with sticky rice.

    I'm so glad that you like durian. Most peoples try the durian for the first time with bad texture or unripe/overripe, but the one you got is perfect, that's why it tastes so good. Well done 👍🏻
    Ps. The perfect texture should be a bit hard outside, creamy inside with a lot of fibers. And yes the smell shouldn't be so bad or like gasoline because if you can smell that from far away, it's overripe.

    • @CrissyUnfiltered
      @CrissyUnfiltered  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      🥰 Thank you! Every time I smell Durian it makes me want more. I thought I wouldn’t like the texture but I actually don’t mind it. Thanks for watching ❤️

    I think the advantage you have (compared to other americans) is you can handle spicy food in thailand and malaysia. Most westerners prefer vietnamese or filipino food as they are not spicy. Also you dare to try new stuff eg durians.

    • @CrissyUnfiltered
      @CrissyUnfiltered  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      😂 Yes I absolutely loooove spicy food! I do have a limit but most times it’s never too spicy. Daring indeed because I have a true appreciation for the taste of variety. I always try things at least twice. 😊

      Yes, that’s a great description of it! I love onions too no wonder why I like it. Also the smell when I came to southeast asia years ago never really bothered me. Once in Thailand I just crave it after smelling it lol

    This now is the durian season. They come in many different type and each has unique flavor. Ask the seller which type so you know which one you like.

    You’re really good 👍 I’m Thai but I can’t eat it. When my parents eat durian I need to go outside somewhere and wait until my parents finished …. Smell of durian make me wanna faint.

      Initially I didn’t like the smell of it but now I’m so used to it. It doesn’t bother me at all. It taste nice 😊 Maybe some day you can give it another try. When I first had the ice cream I figured I may like have durian by itself.

    Do not eat ripe or mushy durian for the very first time. The smell and texture may cause you hate durian forever. The good durian that almost Thai people like is the slightly under ripe durian that has harder meat and does not has too much smell.

    • @CrissyUnfiltered
      @CrissyUnfiltered  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s weird that I enjoy the smell of Durian but you are right based on the ripeness the smell and taste can be different. Makes sense for me to try it again but this time just try multiple ones. Thanks ❤️
