Use whole wheat flour and water that’s all, less calories, just knead for 5 minutes, gives fluffy light flat breads -2 ingredients 😋

I love this one and have used it as a pizza crust. I brush oil on the bottom and place on a pan , put on pizza sauce, cheese, peppers, pepperoni and mushrooms more cheese and bake at 400 degrees f for 10-15minutes or until it’s crispy on the bottom and edges . Excellent recipe

I got busy after making the first two and left the dough sitting around and definitely they rest were more fluffy and had more bubbles.

      @diamond3414 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

After making the dough, cover it with a damp cloth and leave it for 15 mins. That makes it remains soft. If the dough gets dry, the flat breads will turn out a bit hard.

Letting it sit for a few minutes allows the flour to fully hydrate and stay soft after cooking.😊

I made this earlier this evening. It was so delicious and easy😋🙌🏻. I did make different variations as I made some thicker. I cannot believe I never tried making it sooner. Again, the timing was so perfect that it’s making me literally crying on how fulfilling it is and how inexpensive it is during this hardship. You are so genuine and talented. You can try Indian Flatbread i.e. chapati which is super instant to make and requires no yeast or proofing. It will not have bubbles and will be a thin tortilla like structure but believe me it is super soft and easy on tummy unlike yeast containing breads. Hope this info will be useful to you.🫓😊

    Ingredients:
1 cup (8oz/225g) full fat natural plain yogurt (or greek yogurt) Add enough yogurt to match the consistency in my video. You may not need the entire cup depending upon the type of yogurt and flour you use.
    1 cup (5oz/142g) all-purpose flour
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    Optional toppings
    1/2 cup (4oz/115g) butter
    2-3 cloves garlic finely minced
    parsley roughly chopped
    1 pinch salt to taste

An excellent recipe! I did tweak it, but still the best flatbread I've ever made!
I went for half gram-flour half bread flour, added garlic and coriander into the dough, and rested...
Fried in a bit more butter, so was more of a paratha.
    So simple, so delicious. Thanks.

Flat bread is literally our food staple.. we eat it everyday. Heres a simplified version that my whole country eats:
    Flour (any)
    Water
    Salt(to flavour dough)
Mix flour and salt first then add water little by little till you get dough consistency.
Then you are gonna need a tawwa or a frying pan.. let it cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side and you are done.. if you want to make a Paratha then simple in the dough add some clarified butter(ghee) and when you cook it simply add 1 tbs oil to the pan

Hi Gemma! I've been doing a 3 ingredient flatbread for a while for myself, but I only use flour, crushed garlic (for taste can be replaced by other experimental flavors) and water to make the batter. Then I cook it in a very warm pan with no oil or butter until brown patches on both sides. Just dry pan.:-)

Hello Gemma! I love flatbread. I use it for sandwiches, with soup, but most of all when making burritos or soft tacos. I'm so excited for this recipe! I've been searching for a good healthy flatbread or a tortilla and none can be found! Everywhere I look there are so many unwanted ingredients. This recipe that you have come up with is so amazing! I love the fact that there are only three ingredients and that you added yogurt. I am a one who has a desire to bake bread. I think this is a perfect way for me to really start. I'm not sure of my pan, but I will look and get one as I have to get my yogurt. Thank you as always Gemma for not only giving us delicious recipes, but for being such a great teacher. Also, your recipes are so much fun. I will let you know how it went!❤💚❤

I followed this recipe, but opted to add salt to the dough. Then forming the dough into a ball, and allowing it to rest about 10 minutes while I washed up. Afterwards I separated it into six smaller bits, and rolled them between the palms of my hands to form balls. After allowing for the initial rest time, I noticed the dough was fluffier probably because the baking powder was activated. I rolled them out and brushed with butter. I have made similar quick, few ingredient flatbreads, but this is hands down the best! The finished product is magnificent. Esthetically pleasing to the eye with an elasticity similar to a yeast leavened bread. Once I got the temperature right, I watched as the bubbles began appearing and forming the surface of the flatbreads before turning them. From start to finish it only took 30 minutes. This recipe is one I’ll make often. Thanks for sharing.

One great tip to make it rise without baking powder is to sprinkle dry flour on top after you apply oil on rolled dough. Then make 2 folds to form a triangle and roll again. Sprinkling dry flour helps create bubbles and layers.

Hey Ambeta, don't worry, your English is quite good. The only tiny mistake is "are bean" should be "have been". I teach English as a Second Language and couldn't resist commenting. Hello to Greece from Kansas, U.S.

Gemma, how fascinating that people here make flatbreads _with_ or _without_ whole wheat flour, yoghurt, raising agent, etc. (indeed, _so_ many variations). We like yours as it's light textured, not overly chewy and puffs nicely, a beautifully sister to another nutritious, delicious and simple-prep staple, the humble lentil. We find spicy lentils and yoghurt go _great_ with these. As we eat less yeast-based bread nowadays, we compensate with other B-vitamin-rich foods.

I made some tonight! First batch i made it with vanilla Greek yogurt because that was what I have at the moment. My butter chicken was a bit sour because of the tomatoes I used. So I feel like the vanilla yogurt i used for the bread balanced it perfect. I even made a second batch! But this time I ran out of all purpose flour so I used self rising flour and omitted the baking powder. They turned out great! Thanks for the recipe! So simple!❤

So glad I found you. I just did half a recipe with white rice flour and the other half with chick pea. I couldn’t really tell the difference but my husband who is on board for a gluten free diet because he has no choice, ha, liked the rice flour better. Since he is not on a 3 month gluten free diet he can get chick Fil a but he’s required to just say he had something to eat out. Anyway, now I’m about to look at the rest of your recipes. ❤️

Hai Gemma!!! What a lovely recipe!!! This is very similar to Indian bread...
I have a suggestion for you. Try using a seasoned cast iron griddle for flat breads. Rest the dough for at least 15-30 minutes.
A tip for cooking the bread :
30 seconds on one side .. flip over ... you should be able to see some brown spots and tiny bubbles on the side that’s facing the pan... now flip again... and gently press the bread with a spatula.. your bread is going to puff up beautifully.
Just felt like sharing because I love your channel 😊

This is excellent. I have made this as shown in the video and I am very pleased. It is my new standard flat bread for cases when tortillas, roti, paratha, and even pita is called for. A great advantage is that they keep well in the refrigerator for at least a couple of days. Just reheat and they're as good as fresh.

Don't hesitate, this is so easy to make and so tasty, soft an pliable bread,to enjoy with whatever you want,an I just did.

For dessert pizza, I use different flavored yogurt's.

Just made this flatbread to go with a vegetable curry I made yesterday (as curries always taste better the next day once herbs & spices have had time to defuse flavors & aromas within the recipe) and the flatbread was very easy to make, easiest experienced thus far when making this type of bread and it was tasty and didn't take a long time to make from beginning to end with no required waiting time for bread dough to rise! Definitely recommend this recipe to all who have no time to make flatbread for dips, curries and more! Thanks, Gemma for sharing this recipe most appreciated!:0)

I used plain mashed sweet potato Instead of yogurt and it was absolutely delicious! Slightly sweet, crispy and good with butter or cheese. I'm baking flat breads since I can't find yeast in stores. This is called roti in Trinidad, they bake it every morning and have with eggs. They also use for making doubles.

Hello, just one quick question, when you put the flatbread onto the pan, can you then paint the other side of it with the garlic butter, to have the same look and taste on both sides?

    • @biggerbolderbaking
      @biggerbolderbaking  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You can but you might burn the other side when you flip it. If you manage that one side doesn't burn, then you can do that.
