Thank you so much for posting. I'm a 63 year old widow and I watched your video and installed my own new radio for the first time in my life. It's working great. Thank you!
Yeah sadly alot of females who are into this kind of stuff go to a shop where they do car audio installing and get ripped off for such an easy job just takes time but places be charging couple hundred dollars extra when it's so simple my boy paid for subwoofer installment 400dollars when its actually really really easy and people off the street with knowledge only charge 50-150$ huge difference
If you want a good quality cd player for car you need to buy either a Pioneer sony jvc or Kenwood because those brands have like the best quality cd players they lasted forever and they indeed WILL last longer than your cheap factory delco cd player and any other cheap aftermarket brand
No way to describe you and this video but with one word, Legendary. You saved my life with this video because there aren't many in depth tutorials on here, but you my friend have blessed everyone!
THIS WAS VERY HELPFUL...especially for someone like me who is not car efficient with putting stuff together. I'm a DIY'er so with this I think I can do it myself. Thank you. I HOPE my cover kit is right for my model we'll see. Thank you!
great video - best I have seen - a couple things - a) make sure your wiring harness comes with butt ends - you dont want to mess with electrical tape, especially if you live in an are with wildly different temperatures over different season (midwest) b) you need FOUR items to do this install ( not counting tools ) 1) the deck 2) a wiring harness (with butt ends) 3) the antenna adapter (SCOSCHE GM02BCB) 4) mounting kit (Metra 99-3009) I was able to get all 4 of these items from Amazon for $60.
@@jasonwilliams8393 yo I'm sorry about what I commented I was a moron back then legit did not have a single idea what I was talking a out you were completely right
I enjoyed your video! Though i must say, though not everyone can solder wires together, wire caps, or wire nuts, are a terrible idea for audio. When audio wiring it is important to ensure good connections, if you dont have them, you loose sound quality. A recommendation for those that cant solder is to atleast use heat shrink crimp connectors, this way there is a decent connection between the wires, and it will be waterproof incase you get moisture behind the dash.
It's been mentioned already in the comments, but for sake of importance people: please don't use wire nuts for car audio or any kind of automotive wiring. If you don't know how to solder, the easiest thing to do is use closed end caps. It's like wire nuts but they crimp on with a pair of pliers. They're a much more solid connection and you don't need electrical tape that will make a sticky stinky mess if you ever have to get back into it. Closed end caps can be purchased at any auto parts store. They are usually white and look kinda like those blue wire nuts you saw in the video.
I guess that is not professional with the cables( I will do the same ) , I mean so good explraned and you show us every single step and corner . Just awesome mate 🙌🙌🙌👌
I just bought one with a CD player today I got some new boss speakers with it I drive a 2002se Pontiac Sunfire i guess the ideals are kinda the same way my problem I don't have a harness in my car them wires were cut but anyways thanks for showing me a proper way to do it
Dude I like it, i wish you made this video about a month ago because I installed a new radio and my dads 12" subwoofer into my 2013 chevy cruise and that was so freaking frustrating! I couldn't find wires and I had to disassemble my whole dash just to get to the radio!! But after trial and error I got everything in and it works like a charm. Can't wait to see what's next for your car and your next video, keep up the good work!!
I know this video is really old, but can you tell me how you fit that OEM bracket on your head unit? My BOSS 635uab doesn't have screw holes that line up.
Sony head units/receivers normally have Output Error at high volume with the factory wire harness. Some suggest to use a higher capacity power/ground wires. How do you install this and still maintain the function of using only key in ignition ACC position, not directly from the batter?
I have a Boss just like this except it has everything including CD player. BTW. I still have a lotttttt of CD's :D..... Thanks for the video. I'll be hooking mine up this week.
For some reason mines stop working and when I try to see what was the problem the speaker when connected all the way wouldn’t work but when it’s barely touching the sound turns on
hey, i have a question. in my car i have only one black wire and i don't know how to connect the radio. i brought the car without radio and all the videos that i watched were about getting out the old radios and putting new ones. you seemed the guy who might explain. thanks
Hi great video. I installed a single din radio but it does not turn on but when I connect acc and battery together it turns on but when disconnect it won’t turn on. Ground is also connected. Any idea. Thx
Here's something weird- not sure if it's it's my new Kenwood with the problem or not. After having the Kenwood 2 din installed for several mos, I then installed LED brake lights in my car on the left & right sides. After a while, I noticed my radio receptions was sometimes not as good as other times. THEN, I installed a LED in the 3rd brake light in the back window (the radio antenna is built into the rear window). Now, everytime I hit my brakes, I lose all radio reception. I never heard of this happening before and don't know what to do about it. Any insight to this mystery is appreciated.
Do you have an update on the longevity, updated review on this unit? I’m looking for one and coincidentally came across this one on Amazon. There are a bunch of mixed reviews, including one from a person whose unit caught on fire; so it would be very helpful if you could give an insight on what was/has been your experience with it. Thank you!
Did you keep your factory gm cd player?? I am looking to buy one atm, im trying to get my 96 Firebird back to "dealer showroom" condition as much as possible...aftermarket car radios a just a big turnoff for me, lol i cant help it
I've never understood why everyone says undo the negative on the battery cuz I've had shit arc on me after just the negative, i always just do pos and neg both
Damn that dash kit is a perfect fit. Unfortunately for me (prius) i hv to pull pioneer stereo outward a little bit to get inside the stupid trim plate to push buttons and eject the plate.

If you use an amplifier you can skip the speaker color to color right ??
When you connected the harnesses, you twisted the wires together and used an lighter? Or did you just twist the wires.
I know this video is really old, but can you tell me how you fit that OEM bracket on your head unit? My BOSS 635uab doesn't have screw holes that line up.

All you will have to do is just unplug the old wiring harness from the radio and you will be good.

when hooking up any kind of electronics home or car...always connect the power lead wire last!!!

Braydon Morgan it allows you to connect an aftermarket stereo to your ancient car. (If that helps) 😂😂
And it also keeps you from butchering your cars stock wires
Nice
