Boss leading the pack mainly due to availability. Not much to these cheap media receivers, but would make for decent toolbox boombox radios with a set of speakers and a 12V power supply or battery. Or like you said, use in an older vehicle that doesn't have BT. Reliability is kinda sketchy and you gonna need good spectacles to see that screen 🥸
Indeed looking for a head unit for the wife’s jeep and boss leads the pack on Crutchfield. Unless you want to unload a grand lol

I have this unit in my Bobcat 773. Its feeding a 400x4 taramps,then 4 6.5 pod jbls,sounds good,but that display is too dim even on high. I think its a good buy for the money. When I was a teen in the 70s this would have been great!
I would use it in a portable speaker build or a workshop setup. I wouldn't run it in any vehicle. On the boat, I have a SHIVR cooler that's crazy loud, but it's too bulky for anything else, so I would definitely use this little HU with a couple of PRV 6.5s in a custom portable speaker setup.
The be10acp is a pretty awesome radio for the price. We brought Boss Elite in during Covid because we couldn’t get anything else. They’ve turned out to be reliable budget radios with a nice feature set that sounds fine for the average consumer.
Can you test the EONON X20PLUS and also describe how easy it is to install with the backup camera it comes with?
Someone else was talking about those rear connections in a review and said they allow it to be connected in some cars without a harness. It actually looks a lot like the harness on my Hyundai

decent. I hear is coming out with some bad ass units. Like having a separate volume knob can mount in the dash. That's how I have the bass knob on one of my JL amps in the beater. It looks factory and easy to reach. I have a Alpine in another beater and it's decent. I use to only run Alpine in the 80's, then around 1995 I started using Pioneer. I tried many Kenwoods and just didn't have any luck with them. It was always something small except the 4th one I tried would loose the memory. Can't wait for the popular ones to get back in stock. But like I said I believe Alpine is coming back!
My dad got one of these 2 years ago as a gift. Been working since; however every now and again it freezes up and needs to be reset. This is due to the longer than normal starting time on his diesel truck though.
Do a review of pioneer mvh 280fd , i am not sure if it's available in is or not but that's a very low cost headunit using the same amplifier chip from sony gs80 , i have looked into their repair manuals and both of them are the same texas instruments ic but one thing i noticed is the sony is running the chip amp at 14.5v while pioneer is running it at 19v so it should make more power than the sony the chip can do even more power at 24v but cooling becomes an issue.
One other thing. For rca voltage, wouldn’t you double the output measured on one end, seeing as how we usually plug in left and right cables? Please correct me if I’m wrong

I use it as a direct replacement for the stereo in my 1994 Chevy c1500 it pushes the factory speakers just the same as the original it sounds fine and works better than the old tape deck that was in there that's what I wanted that's all I needed just something to listen to in my old work truck
did you need to buy any extra wires or harnesses to install the stereo into your chevy or did everything needed come with the head unit.
@@Josh-ij1vh no I bought a wiring harness off of Amazon along with the plastic shelf that replaces the actual stereo buttons and the plastic part where the tape deck used to go so it all fits in there seamlessly looks factory
For the price, performance and little features it’s great for a boom box! The 14 watts is about normal rms for the average head unit.

Seems alright, I bought it because the reviews seemed good and aesthetically looks nice in a 90's car dash (foxbody mustang). It's hard to find a nice cheap full featured head unit that isn't over styled with chrome and lights.
Did you run an amp. Foxbody as well and can’t get the amp to kick on
@@mastahcheff I didn't get around to installing this yet, took like 2 months to get the title straightened out on the fox and after getting it home I've been working on swapping in the replacement motor for the other 2 months. Sorry. As for not getting the amp to kick on did you connect to rem wire to it from the head?

Hi great video. I have a dual xdm17bt but tbh it’s not that loud and sounds distorted. Would this be a upgrade or would it be the same. Just looking for decent sound but not too much money since it will be in a 90s model Honda.
This would be the same. Check out entry level models from JVC or Kenwood those would be much better

Wait, you didn't test max power out/ volume/distortion with loudness on/off or with eq.
A couple of notes.
The DD-1 doesn't detect clipping. Clipping is a type of distortion, but the DD-1 looks at the 3rd order harmonic level to determine 1% distortion.
Also, just because the high level output distorts at volume 36 does not mean the rca distorts at the same level. These are different outputs. The rca may be clean to a higher volume level.
I believe you misunderstood or I did not make one part of what I was saying clear enough. I tested the speaker output and the rca output separately. If you’re using the speaker outputs to power the speakers and rca to an amp to power the subs you will want to set your gain to correspond with the levels that the speaker outputs clips even tho the rca level might be clean at a higher volume so that you do not run your speakers at high distortion trying to maximize your subwoofer output

@@850CANE Basically, it means the DD1 light might come on before the signal starts to clip. If so, it's because it's picking up other types of distortion.

It's to bad most people don't care about voltage output anymore of an hu as well as a lot of companies that are making the head units still. Thank goodness for Kenwood, JVC and Sony still making higher voltage hu's which is better for your amps instead of adding a line driver
@HTNHRD I agree with you. I have one of the new Sony DSX-GS80 headunits and that was the first improvement I noticed, my amps performed so much better, stay cool, etc... All thanks to something as simple as high voltage outputs on the back of the HU!! I could never go back to a headunit with low volt rca outs ever again. I had to turn my gain WAY down & yet the bass hits so much harder. Have had this Sony for a little over a year and a half now & still love it as much as I did on day one. Really wish Sony would have done a much better job with the AX7000 because that was the one I really wanted so I could still have a touchscreen BUT they left off too many needed features for me to just settle with it.

Man I've got a BOSS single din radio on my Harley it has a 3.2 inch screen it plays cds,dvds,has an sd card slot has a removable face that thing is every bit of 15 years old its been rained on and everything 🤣I have never had a problem with it hell i even accidentally wired up the power and ground backwards it works everytime.👍
E Dud but you are missing the benefits and luxury of having a headunit with high voltage RCA outs.. Well unless you are not using any amps on your Harley, then you would never need high volt RCA outs anyways. Although I could not imagine riding a Harley and trying to listen to music from a cheap headunit only putting out 8 to 14 rms per speaker. You'd probably not be able to hear the music.

The output power & features are much better than the base OEM stereos in old rigs thar these are mosly being bought for.
But, even basic OEM radios were good quality that didnt fail within the vehicle warranty period.
The quality of these are a crap shoot according to reviews. For the equivalent cost of 2 Big Mac meals, you cant expect much.

As long as you have low expectations for this unit it is useable
Yes I using it on my two amps one for mid and one for bass and it working great I had it now almost four years and it working perfect up to now
What did you do to get the title of the songs to come out?
If you’re using Spotify it will do it for you, but if you’re using a usb or sd card you will have to make sure your tracks have that data in the file.

@@HifiVega I had started looking for a head unit right about when you couldn't find any worth while.. I finally did find 1 they had 2 of the higher priced Kenwood excelons. So I got 1
I put the cheapest Kenwood I could find for my work truck. It’s like this as it’s not a CD player cost me 59 bucks from crutchfield it’s been great since 2018 for me.
I used to sell the crap out of Boss products back in the mid 90's to early 00's. They really were not terrible products and if they would stop bullshiting the power levels they would sell even more.
Ya I believe around that time the amps were designed by Stephen Mantz (Zed Audio) who designed many amps for many companies, but most well known for the early Hifonics amps especially the VI & VII series along with the Generation X which was the last before Maxxsonics took over.
@@20hztremor Yes and some were Korean. They had a Boss American line that was damn good. After that they started going down hill a little with all Chinses built product and still lying about the power, but really going over board with the claims.

I bought one last week, I am inaudible on handsfree when the engine is running. However, if the engine is off the handsfree is fine. Strange!
