GAC is a really underestimated sleeping giant in china not only with the AION-brand. They started with some amazing conceptcars, with a lot of brands and manufacturing for foreign brands too. Now with AION they establish a cool electric brand with graphene battery and top specs. Also with a big VAN in luxury market in the arabian market too. The western brands will get complte new competition and there will be no more big numbers to be relaxed in luxury market for Daimler, Audi and BMW they dream of without loosing market share significantly.

But at least their arrogance keeps growing instead of thinking iPhone they still make Nokias and telling people about their heritage. After driving for 54 years I had quite a lot of good European cars but their time is over even compared to ‚just‘ a KIA EV6 AWD. So now also GAC is coming and it‘s insane indeed!😎😜

That torque number is at the tyre contact patch. It isn't a motor characteristic. Motor torque is multiplied by gearing. Good to see that GAC is working on high performance electric motors, however.
The power consumption claim relates to power consumed by the on board charging circuitry. SiC chips are more efficient - less waste heat that needs to be dissipated. I have no idea whether the claimed improvements are realistic, however.

Sam when it comes to high performance and off road ICE vehicles, think horses and sail boats. Both of those were supplanted by Steam then ICE engines yet they have a steady group of loyal enthusiast over past 100 years that enjoy them and in the case of sail boats have even advanced the technology to the point of carbon fiber hydrofoils that fly above the water at twice the speed of conventional sail boats.
I think off road, muscle car, sports cars and supercar manufactures will offer their wares in three categories.
ALL ENGINE for those who enjoy the complexity, noise, rumble and art of the internal combustion engine. And they will continue to advance the technology. Like sailboats and horses they won’t be the most advanced or fastest or most powerful forms of transport but they will have a charm or beauty of their own.
HYBRID cars will combine the two allowing ICE enthusiast to enjoy the beauty and charm of the internal combustion engine and performance (nearly) of an EV.
ALL EV - the average car buyer (economy, standard, luxury) will insist on an EV for the efficiency, quiet operation, low cost and appliance like reliability and trouble free operation.
Look at it another way, quartz mechanical watches pioneered by the Japanese in the 70’s then digital watches became the most accurate, cheap, reliable and durable type of time pieces. Yet nearly all expensive and desired watches are “automatic” Swiss movement - an antiquated design which must be wound up or moved every so often to keep it running.
Go figure. “Enthusiast” like complicated old technologies and there are millions of them who pay out the nose to enjoy the cool old stuff.

Hi Sam, I love the channel mate but please respect your viewers that are TRUE car enthusiasts. Please try not to offend people and the industry by comparing a Chinese start-up Supercar to brands like Ferrari and Bugatti. It's a 488GTB not a 486 and you may want to check the value of 458's and 488's before claiming they will be worth nothing in a few years. These cars are an incredible investment if you have the money to get in the game. FYI Bugatti and Rimac are the same company, but sales of the W16 Bugatti are in superior demand compared to the Rimac. All Bugatti's will be full electric from now on anyway but there is room in this world to accept the beauty in all types of engineering greatness. I DO love your content about technology and the future of the industry but you are missing the point if you think acceleration is the one thing that makes one super car better than another.

I live in New Jersey, USA and the weather here would destroy the rsnge of any car without full battery pre-conditioning.
But Sam, what are you talking about not buying a new gas car?
I had to get a new car and I obtained a Hyundai Kona that has a prenogotiated price of 19k USD.
Where in the world do you think I can get an EV for that? Seriously?

  • @BlondieSuperdog
    @BlondieSuperdog ปีที่แล้ว

Hey Mr Amerboyo; before you suggest something make sure it isn't you who need the information. How much does a Tesla model Y weight? How much does a Corolla hybrid weigh? These are the two most popular cars in each category. If you agree the Y is much heavier; then it takes more CO2 to build. It also takes proportionally more energy to move F=MA. This extra weight largely nullifies the efficient electric motors. So you are left with more energy to build more CO2. IF you charge off the grid and not solar you have the added cost of CO2 at the power generation plant to push the heavy car; this actually gives a hybrid a CO2 advantage particularly if that hybrid can commute all electric. BECAUSE the full EV weights 40% more. Even if you are using solar you need 40% more to push the heavier car. Perhaps you'd say a corolla and a Tesla are not in the same class - fine the same thing holds if you cut the size of the battery in a model 3 by 85% and make it into a hybrid. It will stilll be 800 lbs lighter, and able to drive about 60 miles all electric because you can dispose of the heavy battery and its heavy protective enclosure; swapping in a 300 lb motor; could be ethanol or bio desiel but even a gas engine will burn far less fossil fuel ; and drive all commute miles full electric. In that senerio there is not way a heavy full EV can match a hybrid in being green; can you have the exact same features other than long charge times the big battery has. th-cam.com/video/S1E8SQde5rk/w-d-xo.html. Am I against electric cars? No I have an Aptera on order but I don't think it will ever be made at this point so I am looking for another Green EV so far I haven't found any.

I'd love to have a Tesla Roadster and park it next to my Cybertruck.

    Mild rant. 🙂
This car might be QUICKER than a Bugatti Chiron, but it's not faster. The Chiron can do over 300 mph. A Tesla, as an example, is also a very quick car but there are many that are faster.

Cool car, after reaching 100 km/h in 1.9 seconds it will stop straight at the charging station. OOr catch fire, depending on how lucky you are... :)

it might be a supercar but it wont challenge the roadster at the same price. Anyone can build a low volume hypercar but the high volume cars are the ones that means more.

Roadster won't be high volume either, Model S plaid is not even high volume.

I love it Skip when a EV zealot has no logical argument and has to resort to - like an obscure measurement not made to justify their weak logic for why they believe something that makes no sense yet. Maybe when some safe cheap high density battery tech that scales shows up; EVs will be great; but that isn't the present real world. Lithium EVs don't scale, they are not particularly green and they cost a lot.

With a supercar, though, half of the sensation is the sounds and and the tactile effects from the gear changes, the change in revs etc. Supercar owners don't care of their more expensive to run than an electric car and in real-world driving, a 1000hp electric car is not going to be any faster.
Bring on electric supercars, yes! Just don't pretend-at the moment- that they're better than an ICE supercar. They're not. There's more to a car than just straight line acceleration.

If you've spent a few million on a fossil supercar and are blown off the track by a quiet EV, your dick is going to shrink a few inches. Forget it, it's over.

BYD can make a thousand horsepower EVs like this, but it didn't, so it's done by its competitors! BYD is the next Kodak for sure.

It is pretty insane, mindless really; who cares about going 0--60 in 1.5 seconds? Does anyone use that in their practical driving? EVs aren't able to compete in any real race because they have very poor range at high speeds. There isn't an EV that exists today which could beat a Prius from Munich to Berlin on the autobahn; because they all would need to charge at least 2 and likely 3 times for at least a delay of at best an hour and most would have a delay of 3 hours charging.
