It would be great if someone would market an affordable home storage battery. Solar panels are affordable but home batteries still seem to be several times more expensive than car batteries. Imagine not having to be enslaved to electricity monopolies!
they will come down
They are on par with car batteries. Car batteries are horrendously expensive.
Yup and preferably easy diy installation
Well, what would be an affordable price? The KWh in Germany is currently at about 175 Euro. The battery as such (no box around it and no electronics) leaves the plant in China at 55$. Battery plant capacity will quadruple according the Bloomberg in 2025.
Or buy a cheap used EV and hook it to your grid - worst case scenario? You have a second car to drive!
Definitely looking forward to seeing Sodium batteries becoming more common.
Sounds like an enabler for more extensive solar and wind - ideal.
Heehaw
Stora, the company that is talked about in this video, was founded in 1288. Not bad for a hi-tec company.
Geeking... I make supercapacitors and batteries as a DIY thing...
Rattan or bamboo have awesome properties as a carbon source. Hydolize it in low PH for a while and the carbon structures are left behind.
I can see trees as being a great source of fine-grain carbon for batteries.
450C sealed container for 10 hours...
Process the results...
You could get some awesome long-chain carbons...
But it is so hard to dial in. I do 6 canisters at a time and usually two of them have good results...
Backyard hobbyist's thoughts...
Sounds like a great second life for all the Christmas trees at the end of year!
Battery development is moving at a breath-taking pace. I don't know if wood pulp will be the answer but you can't help but feel there will be a massive breakthrough in the next couple of years that will be the solution to storing renewable energy
The question is, should we wait for that breakthrough. My answer was no, btw.
@@johnbraunschweig There's no need to wait for anything. Battery technology and chemistry has already advanced beyond requirements, the transition is already successfully well underway and is only getting better. Further advancements are always welcome.
Thanks Sam. NZ produces 300,000 tonnes of Pulp for export and Paper production. Lignin bi product was a waste and river pollutant, so this technology could be applied here too.
New Zealand has research and technology. Remember lignin is coal.
The miracle battery of the day !
This would be a great solution for the US. Large dense forests here.
They burn the lignin for energy, and so their "Lignode TM" is made of compressed ash instead of graphite. You basically just need ash, but that doesn't sound as "green" as using trees.
Great idea. Shave the forests for reduced CO2. FFS😅😅😅😅😅😅
Yep, great idea. Cut down all those ugly forests to make batteries for electric cars so that they can drive through the bleak lunar like landscape that used to be forested.
@pontiuspirate1925 that's what tree farms are for
@@Ben-sh1dl how long does it take for a tree to grow to become viable ?
Cycle life. That stat should be included with energy density. I'd find it more important to find out and mention it than energy density for storage batteries.
Cyberopolis's transparency and commitment to its roadmap is refreshing. They're setting a new standard.
Interesting development this!
It's not a development. It hasn't been developed.
Please note that a battery needs also Aluminum and Copper. According to Frauenhofer Institute in Germany, the lower power density of Sodium batteries cause more Copper and Aluminium usage. This offsets the environmental benefit of not using Lithium.
Copper is NOT always required for Sodium batteries. Also, you are avoiding China supply chain.
Maybe the sodium collected from desalination plants can be used for this. Most of those plants just pump the waste salt back into the water - but the salinity of the water in the area ends up being so high that it kills all the underwater plants, fish and shellfish. Collecting it for a useful purpose would be great.
Swedish, not Swiss companies ;-)
Sam is an idiot
Cyberopolis's latest update is a game-changer. Can't wait to see how it unfolds.
The energy around Cyberopolis is infectious. This community believes in the project's success.
If you can use wood, you can use Hemp instead and that's even better then wood pulp.
The world would be better off to source a lot of things we use from hemp.
If ever there was a great resource hemp is it.
Get off of DuPont's back, will you?
😉
@@jantjarks7946 is that a joke?
@@ronfarnsworth7074 Yes and no. Check the history and who was behind banning hemp.
@@jantjarks7946 Oh yes, I'm well aware of that story.. Not enough people are.
I was hoping that's where you were coming from, thanks.
Some varieties of bamboo, given the right conditions, grow 31+ inches per day. Bamboo will enable the pulp for all kind of sustainable products and certainly this new battery tech as well. Great news Sam Evans!
Bamboo doesn't grow like that. Please read a bit you Philistine
@@JamesKennedy-zs8go Bamboo is the fastest-growing grass on Earth, with some species able to grow up to 2.91 ft per day, or 1.5 in per hour, according to Guinness World Records. This is equivalent to growing at a rate of about 4 centimeters per second, or 35 in in a single day.
Taken as read.
Bamboo might be the ideal answer to climate change too!
@@Gobhumi >> 4 centimeters per second
WOW, that's breathtaking, unbelievable!!
>> or 35 in in a single day
That's a bit underwhelming on the other side... ;)
@JamesKennedy-zs8go it does grow like that.
3:24 Uppsala mentioned!
Ahhh
The new game-changing battery.
Such a long time since we heard that phrase…
Why not Hemp pulp instead of wood?
100 Wh/kg is not terrible. In a mature ubiquitous EV super charging network, 100 Wh/kg should be perfecly viable, as EVs won't require the range if they can charge to 80% in around 10 minutes. If for example 140 Wh/kg for an average EV gives you 500 km range, then that same vehicle should get at least 300 km range, which is fine if you have 10 minute EV super charging everywhere. Most drivers require a 10 minute break after driving 200 km, there wouldn't be any significant inconvenience to have to recharge at around 300 km. For urban and suburban driving, a range of 300 km is often more than sufficient. Many EV owners primarily use their vehicles for daily commutes and local trips, where frequent but short recharges would be manageable.
I'm in theUK, and had a quote for 4.8KW Solar PV and 11.6KWh battery. the battery was 65% of the total cost
Similar situation in Australia. 11.5kwh will power a whole of house heat pump for about 3hrs😅😅😅
With all these miracle batteries the price agould be dropping any time now
Don't hold your breath. It won't happen.
Oh great, another miracle battery.
Perpetually only 3 years away.
The battery is one of the most important technologies needing developed.
@@android01978 and after 40 years of only being 10 years away. Nuclear fusion power is now just 10 years away.
@@Guvament_bsmore like 10 million years away. We will be making Dyson spheres before net positive fusion power becomes a reality.
But wait.....there's more. I'll have mine with fries thanks.
The Flux Capacitor, just a matter of weeks now...mark my words 😂😂😂
Sounds almost too good.
Great news.
Nice
Been following Cyberopolis for a while and their consistency and dedication are paying off. Big moves ahead!
Let's see how this video ages in 5-10 years. I'm betting pulp won't be used in rechargeable batteries
Wouldn’t a battery made of wood also mean that that battery is also more flammable ?
The advancements Cyberopolis is making in blockchain tech are nothing short of revolutionary.
Happy Father’s Day, Sam! 💪❤️
Father's Day in Australia is in September. His accent gives it away.
Do you take a day off bro
Seeing a lot of smart money move towards Cyberopolis. They must know something we don't.
a few months ago you said China was way ahead of everybody else in sodium ion battery technology..
This sounds bloody interesting
Sounds like a winning solution and hopefully will reduce the price of EVs.
Dream on
Is there anything batteries CAN'T be made of??? 🤔
You can make a battery from either lemons or onions.
Good
All depends on price [unless the government subsides these ]
Can you get 1000km like the shenxing
👍👍
Factorial Energy from a Boston Massachusetts suburb claims to be supplying samples to Mercedes Benz of a new type of
semi solid state battery that has 33 percent greater energy density than the best production Lithium-Ion batteries. They believe they can achieve 600 mile range with the same weight as existing batteries. The individual cells are significantly smaller than the best mass produced batteries
As Tesla didn't get these samples, he won't cover it 😁
Am i the only one that sees the problem with the explosive demand for batteries and the extra pressure that would bring to the already declining forests world wide. And no, the fact that they use a currently unused byproduct of pulp manufacture is not a argument in light of the gigantic demand.
The most precious achievement of the consumer society is to consume the planet.
No technology will change that, simply, because in consumer societies too much is not enough. So, you have to ban all technologies keeping this in mind.
Or we might become at least a bit more reasonable.
😉
YT doesn't like my comment, pointing at the core of consumer society and what it means.
Great innovations make sense only when they are used by common man. They have to commercialise it fast and make it real competition to Lithium batteries
Making Pulp wood is not enviromennt friendly. It consumes lots of water and energy, and smells badly.
Sam said “wood” - heheh hehheheheheh - sorry couldn’t resist
Wood good....lithium bad.😊
If you value technology and innovation in the crypto space, Cyberopolis is where you want to be.
" Lignin is an abundantly available polymer and it makes up to thirty percent of a tree, IT'S NOT REALLY USED FOR ANYTHING ELSE, it's a by-product"
Lignen is THE MOLECULE which makes wood (and paper) - no lignin, NO WOOD! For a technical channel discussing tiny variations in Battery chemistry, this is really.
Over simplification to the point of absurdity
This is not a technical channel whatsoever.
😉
Next thing will be a battery powered by compressed dog farts…
Cyberopolis's focus on user experience and adoption is exactly what the crypto industry needs.
Sam, you look like James Dean.
After the car crash
Cyberopolis is shaping up to be a major player in the crypto market. Their progress is undeniable.
wood and salt? Next you'll be telling us Trump is going to be president again.
That's IT. Joe Biden
And Sam share the same Brain...
Bahahaha
Wood pulp will be banned due to environmental concern.
Morning mate
It's natural and will not contaminate the planet like lithium \ cohort etc
Heehaw.
