Wow. Lads, this edit is fantastic. I have to shout out the sound design across the whole piece. The interviews over the footage from all the Makou runners really draws you in and gives the whole thing so much more depth and emotion. Thank you from all us bang average runners for keeping us inspired by showing what's possible. Nice one.
The races were great to watch on the feed, and great to get the stories on from The Distance Project. Sorry to see you have to step off on the short course race, apparently because of spiking. Enjoyed seeing you in the other team race earlier this year. Glad to see you getting back into it, and loving the content!
Class watch and great to see all the Makou crew doing so well! Was gutting to hear about your spiking callum.... are running in shinpads but on your calfs acceptable in the cross scene🤣 Also good to see a big name in HelloFresh recognising the value of TDP!!! Great work
Great video Callum as always! Unlucky with the spiking… what are the odds? I managed to battle through the mud in the men’s senior to finish in the top 100. What a race. Keep up the good work 👍🏼
yo, since the audience may not be so familiar with the team members, perhaps during voiceover sections, the in-race footage could be focused on the team-member being interviewed, maybe starting with a tight-shot to make sure the viewer knows who they are (even maybe using lower thirds)? To fill the time, perhaps slo-mo footage slowed down could do the trick? Hopefully sensor/camera/lens combo was is good enough for that? Just a thought.
Sorry, but you cannot have the pinnacle of the croos country season in November! If you have a track season that finishes in September, take a break and then start winter training in October what form can you expect to be in by November? This race has achieved some status only because of the Euros being held in December. The Euros began when European nations gave up on the World Champs (held in March) because they though the Africans were unbeatable. The traditional date for the pinnacle of the British cross country season is the first Saturday in March - when the National was traditionally held.
Unfortunately the National has limited prestige these days. Like it or not, you only need to look at the calibre of the Top 10 every year and compare with Liverpool - it isn’t even close. That’s from someone who’s done both! Indoors is growing in importance for times, contracts and qualifying opportunities - so people are shifting to this rather than extended XC season. That’s not an opinion it’s a fact - look at our best athletes!
@@the.distanceproject We are moving towards an American style cross country season - very short, ending in November. I am old (and old fashioned!) and remember 1978. Steve Ovett wins the Inter Counties title over 7 miles (beating world record marathoner Steve Jones) on a hilly, snow covered course and finished fourth a month later in the National over 9 hilly miles behind three world class 10K guys (Ford, Stewart, Simmons). A few months later he won the European 1500, set a UK 800 record and ran a world record 2 miles.
Some athletes wear a strip across the nose to open up their airways a little. Rory & Scott were a little under the weather that week (cold symptoms) so they decided to try it!
I'm sorry, but while the production quality of this is wonderful, it's useless to those of us who don't have a fucking clue who's speaking. Some captions with names, together with maybe some captions of those same athletes in the race itself would be extremely useful. Otherwise it's some blokes running around and some disembodied voices wittering on.
Thanks for your passionate feedback Neil… don’t hold back 🤣 We’ll take it on board for next time. Hope you could still enjoy some elements of the video.
@@the.distanceproject I'm often passionate, although I'm also Orstralian, and we swear, a LOT. And I definitely did enjoy aspects of the video, hence the comment about the production quality. I even watched through the Hello Fresh sponsor spot. Something I never do. 🤣
Incredible video boys, captured the essence of it all beautifully.
Also thanks for taking the time to stop and chat with Rosie after the race 🙌

Thanks John! No lasting injury, just bad timing… can’t catch a break at the moment! Back racing again soon :)
Callum
The cinematography on this one is unreal!! Really articulates the beauty and brutality of british xc 🫠
Agreed! Thank you.

Great video as always. The guys smashed it!

When are we going to get a full-length 'Cooking with Callum' video?
When we are really struggling for content or if someone pays us a lot 🤣
British XC really is something else :) get well soon with your injury.
Appreciate it!

@@SirCrombie congrats on a great run!
The color palette you go with for your videos (this one at least, but I feel like you generally pay attention to color grading) is great
Thank you!
Absolute cinema once again boys! Liverpool delivered the goods as always!
Thanks for watching again!
Taking this one off mobile, only the big screen for Distance Project 👏🏻
@@alexb1084 love to hear it, enjoy 🍿
Brilliant video as always
Glad you enjoyed it
Never misses this stuff.
Appreciate it mate!
Poor chap at 6:32 learning what British XC courses are like
He’s a 13:40 man, knows them all too well!
Think he actually fell again while trying to get back up didn't he? 😁
top episode

Unlucky with the spiking! 😢
Life happens! Thank you 🙌🏻
Great video of the race. How's the injury coming along. And when do you think you'll be racing again.
No lasting damage, I’ll be racing again on 15th December :)
@the.distanceproject awesome! Can't wait to see you compete again
How do you get into this kinda race, looks ace!!
open entry to anyone :)
Well done it's so tough keep it up. Great rac8ng and to watch.
What are all these I keep see you athletes wearing on the noses 👃?!
Some athletes wear a strip across the nose to open up their airways a little. Rory & Scott were a little under the weather that week (cold symptoms) so they decided to try it!
That is not Cross Country but rather Mud Masters. Epic race anyways. Greetings from Germany.
Haha it was certainly crazy conditions
Get on to Hoka R&D for some spike proof socks! 🔬
🙂
Callum you need to start wearing steel plates on your heels
