MASTERCLASS 7: Evidence-based Methods for Improving Your Memory, presented by board certified neuropsychologist Dr. Karen D. Sullivan, sponsored by the Reid Fellowship for Healthcare Transformation of The Foundation of FirstHealth.
Can't remember what you came into the living room for? Can't remember where you parked or where put your car keys? These types of concerns about short-term memory are common as we age. Unfortunately, the market is saturated with products promising all sorts of quick fixes for memory, from over-the-counter supplements to brain training games. According to Dr. Karen D. Sullivan, although specific recommendations to improve memory depend on the cause of the memory problem for the individual, there are numerous proven memory-improving techniques that most would benefit from, and they are all free or very low-cost! In the next I CARE FOR YOUR BRAIN with Dr. Sullivan lecture she presents “Evidenced-Based Methods for Improving Your Memory.” She discusses what brain scientists know improves our ability to learn and remember. Become a more savvy consumer of brain products and know what memory tips will actually pay off.

I was able to share your lecture position on u-tube with a relative who had a stroke and was pleased. She was going to listen in, I was so happy.
Then I have another relative whose husband is having trouble with memory. She agreed to try your channel out. I was so happy to be able to suggest your lectures.

Thanks everyone for the great lectures. I’m enjoying the series, here on Vancouver Island. For the geography challenged, I’m just north west of Seattle in Washington USA, Joe

Please explain why is it important to wear my eyeglasses every day for my brain health - I do understand the reasoning behind treating hearing loss/wearing hearing aids each day, but if I can manage well without my glasses (I put them on when watching tv sometimes, and at night to drive, etc.) is that an issue with regards to my brain function? If you have covered the benefits of eyeglasses in a different video please advise. Thank you!

In the video she explains that it is important to wear glasses because it helps you pay more attention. It is important to see clearly so you can take things in. One can imagine a friend talking to you, seeing them more clearly can help you remember what they said. Or seeing your home details better can help you remember where things are.

This was a great session, one of my favorites of this series so far. I also love your reports on various drugs and their impact on brain function (xanax, gabapentin, etc.) Do you have anything to advise about longterm use of Proton Pump Inhibitors? I'd like to see an episode on this topic if there is any concrete evidence that it increases dementia risk. Thanks, Dr. Sullivan.

I'd like to contact your workshop workbook office but the phone number I have is no longer in service. Let me know how I can contact your office. It is related to workbooks. I really appreciate your work and would like a hard copy to study.
