He replaced Richard Dean Anderson (MacGuyver) on General Hospital. Friday it's was Richard and on Monday it was Rick. I was so mad at the time. Then came the whole Luke and Laura saga. Also, he had a band during the late 60's and did USO tours in VietNam. He is still on tour. Was just in my area a month ago.
Wikipedia-Springfield was taking a stained glass class. Also in the class was his friend Gary as well as Gary's girlfriend. Springfield initially wanted to use the actual name of his friend, but instead decided to go with a different name. He chose "Jessie" because he was wearing a T-shirt with the name of football player Ron Jessie on it. Springfield says that he does not remember the name of the girlfriend, and he believes that the real woman who inspired the song has no idea that she was "Jessie's Girl". He told Oprah Winfrey, "I was never really introduced to her. It was always just, like, panting from afar." Springfield told Songfacts that Oprah's people tried to find her, and they got as far back as finding out that the teacher of the class had died two years previously and that his class records were thrown out one year after his death. In 2006, the song was named No. 20 on VH1's "100 Greatest Songs of the 80s".
Rick Springfield was a rock star from Australia in the early 70,s but he had a reemerge as a rock star in 1981 and a soap opera heart throb on General Hospital that same year
Which I believe is the reason why he's one of the only success stories when it comes to actors crossing over to music. In reality, he was really a musician that crossed over to acting and then back again.
@@andreadeamon6419 He wrote that one because of his dad. The song took him from Australia and the band Zoot to America. Well after a stint of performing for the troops in Vietnam. I loved the interviews I found from his early years in the U.S. where he still had that sexy Aussie accent.

Rick Springfield was what they used to call a heartthrob. He could have Jessie's girl, your girl, my girl, pretty much any girl he wanted. I always thought this was him having a little fun with it. He knew what time of day it was.

He was Dr. Noah Drake, he was part of Blackie's (John Stamos) band on the show. Frisco Jones (Jack Wagner) was the other guy in the band. He did another stint in 2005, but I can't remember how long that one was. He came back sporadically. He also played Lucifer in Season 11 of Supernatural, and he was a rock star that said yes!
Rick had a whole teen idol career in the 70s before his hits in the 80s. Check out his song "Speak to the Sky" and "Comic book Heroes". By the late 70s, he put down the guitar and did his soap opera gig that others have mentioned. Then he picked up the music again and had a number of charting lps. Rick is still going strong today!

I first heard this song in 1981, and I was hooked (no pun intended). I've loved Rick ever since. This breakout album (Working Class Dog) had two other huge hits: I've Done Everything for You and Love is Alright Tonight. And one thing that sets Rick apart from most artists is that he is still producing awesome pop rock music today. His latest album has a single called Exit Wound that is catchy as hell. This guy might be the most underrated songwriter ever.
Great Classic Song! I was in a rock cover band in the 70s and 80s, and through a connection had the opportunity to be a roadie at a Rick Springfield concert, August 1985 at the West Fargo ND Fairgrounds. A lot of crazy things happened, would take too long to go into, but one highlight: there was a 50' long 10' high runway built in front of the stage. The crowd was mainly young blond permed hair females. During a song, one young lady was hoisted up to the end of the runway and ran full speed ahead towards the stage. The crowd was going wild when they saw, and when she was almost to where Rick was singing, two security guys grabbed her and took her offstage, her legs kicking up and down. If you want to review more RS songs: Don't Talk to Strangers, and/or Love Is All Right Tonight (which my band played at the time). We all wanted Rick to want us!! We watched Rick on General Hospital, and loved him! In our minds if we were good enough, maybe others wanted us too. But we always stayed with the man we loved. But knowing others wanted you too, meant something back then. Not sure why. When I was 16 I got with the love of my life, he was killed 2 years later. It took a long time, but now I've got 2 amazing daughters, was married to an amazing man for 20 years. But Chris will always be the love of my life. Knowing I was good enough for Chris and others wanted me because of how I treated Chris was amazing. Sounds weird in 2024, but I get it.

Wow, does this take me back! Here's the backstory/rumor from back in the day - Rick played Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital. Dr. Drake had an on and off thing with a nurse named Bobbie Spencer - gorgeous girl, big brown eyes, red hair, sister of Luke Spencer of Luke & Laura fame (if you know you know)- and Bobbie 's best friend was an older nurse named Jessie. This song came out after he had been on the show a few months and everybody thought "Jessie's Girl" was "code" for Bobbie. I know the lyrics don't quite fit, but it really got a buzz going for this song.
I have never clicked sooo fast! This was my dude, my cruch - I had an entire wall dedicated to this man. There really was a woman who he had serious crush on, but the guys name was Gary and they were all in a stained glass class together. Gary's girl just didn't have the same ring to it. He won a Grammy for I've Done Everything For You (written by Sammy Hagar). Human Touch, An Affair if the Heart, and Don't Talk To Strangers were all hits for him as well and worth a watch.
I was fortunate enough to catch a concert (my very 1st, my older brothers took the manic 13-year-old me) just a month before he and Barb went to OZ to tie the knot. It was a great time.
Rick Springfield was born in Sydney, Australia. He was in a band called Zoot with lead singer Daryl Cotton and Beeb Birtles who went onto Little River Band fame, and Rick Brewer on drums. Rick and another guy called Roger Hicks played guitar 🎸. The original band name was. Down The Line and they formed in Adelaide, in South Australia in 1964. Eventually they rebranded as Zoot. They did two great covers of songs, being the Beetles and Eleanor Rigby (but with a bit more of a rock edge) and Life in a Northern Town, which was originally by The Dream Academy. This song was from 1980. I also loved his single, Don’t talk to Strangers. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
From what I remember, Soap Operas were big in the early 80's and "General Hospital" was by far the biggest. Rick was a big star on the show and the biggest heart throb of every girl, young and old. Nobody knew he could sing and when he dropped this, everyone went crazy. Ironically, he could get Jessie's girl, your girl, or any girl he wanted.
Me too!!! Wall to wall. My Daddy took me to camp out for tickets for his shows in Dallas in 1983 with Quarterflash and with Corey Hart again in 1984 when I was 14. I was on the front row and Rick knelt down right in front of me and touched my hand and I thought I would faint. 😍🤣I was crying and he had the biggest smile on his face. Good times.
Years before Rick Springfield was on General hospital and long before Jessies Girl, I remember a song from the early 70's he did, was a minor hit. "Speak to the Sky". We sang that in Music class in elementary school. He released this song back in 1972.
You sound like a friend I had, she was so in love with him. 😂😂😂😂 She had to rush home and watch every episode of General Hospital he was in, and listen to all his music. LOL
I am 65, I had a life size poster of Rick Springfield in my bedroom, so dreamy. When he gave the middle finger to the record company and quit recording to let the contract run out, he was an actor on general hospital. Was an avid follower through that and beyond.
Yeah, Rick Springfield was on General Hospital, but a lot of people forget he was also in the original pilot for Battlestar Galactica in the 70s. He got offed, so it wasn't a lead role, but he was there.
He was it in the 80,s my first concert Rick Springfield and Billy idol. Rick Springfield also started out as DR Noah Drake on I believe General Hospital!
Love Rick Springfield. This song was everywhere when I was a kid. Don't talk to strangers - I've done everything for you are my other favs. He also voiced an animated series Mission Magic !! - a fun cartoon I watched as a kid and downloaded to show my kids just recently. 👍

I watched General in High School, but my husband didn't know him from there. So I always say to him, "What's not to love? He's a Dr., AND a rock star!" Yes, I kept all my Rick Springfield vinyl, couldn't part with it.
This was a Grammy winner for Rick S. And, he still sounds great to this day. He's been touring with Richard Marx on and off for awhile, and the two of them are amazing together. The last time I saw them, Richard came out first...because as he said...he's the bigger Dick. Everyone roared.
Rick had no trouble getting women .. he was a real hearthrob in the early 1980's starring on the top soap opera General Hospital and charting top 40 type hits. Check out Working Class Dog, Affair of the Heart, Don't Talk to Strangers, and others.
I didn't appreciate how talented he was until I was in my 20s. He has a great sense of humor and just a great guy. I'm glad I grew up and gave his music a fair shot.
this song has stuck around as long as it has simply because there are a LOT of guys in this situation. you notice hes not making any moves on the girl, because it would ruin at least two relationships, but hes still stuck with wanting his girl...
First concert that I ever went to was Rick Springfield’s. My friend’s mom loaded up four of us eighth grade girls (and one poor guy) in her big whale of a car and took us to see him. We fan girled through the whole thing! 💕💕

daaaanng - throwback to my first concert (Rick Springfield) - I don't think we realized back then how cheesy that swaying, snapping 80's dancing was - ROFL!!
I’ve loved this song since I was a kid and heard it in 13 going on 30. I swear movies introduced me to so many songs I listen to still to this day 🤣 Boogie Nights has a great moment with this song, Sister Christian and 99 Red Balloons 😂
I always took it as he wanted someone like her. Oh, to add. He has several albums out, is currently still touring (just toured with Richard Marx) where they did both of their songs. He was on some soap opera in the 80’s and starred in his own movie called Hard to Hold, where his music was most of the soundtrack.
I've watched other reactions to this song, and it's baffling how people react negatively to it. People are on such a high moral horse these days, and they act like this never happens. It happens ALL THE TIME. Clapton wrote Layla because he was in love with George Harrison's wife. Clapton and George were good friends.
fun fact, Rick Springfield used to have an animated series back in the 70's called Mission Magic. lasted one season LOL it was weird because back then he had an Australian accent then. he manage to loose his accent before becoming a big star in the 80's he now host a weekly radio show on Sirus XM
Are we going to act like we haven't been in that same situation where one of our friends show up with the girl that you think would be perfect for you but you know that your friend is just going to use her and move on to the next!
He isn't a playa hata 🤣He clearly says in the lyrics "Where can I find a woman LIKE THAT?" Not that he is trying to take Jessie's Girl. He has a crush on her and wishes he had her, but isn't going for it. Lyrics are of major importance here. Lord have mercy.

Wasn't the dog on the cover of the album?
@@thedaylater9886 Yeah I believe so
Love Rick Springfield and this song!!❤❤
Great reactions BP! ❤ You can have your review, he wants someone like her!😁😁
He won a Grammy for I've Done Everything For You (written by Sammy Hagar).
Human Touch, An Affair if the Heart, and Don't Talk To Strangers were all hits for him as well and worth a watch.
80's Legend! 1st concert i went to as a kid, he has a lot of hits. " Affair of the heart" "Love Somebody"
Love your sense of humor! 😜 This brings me back! When I was a little girl, I was totally in ❤ with Rick Springfield! He was my childhood crush. 😍
I don't think it's a sense of humor. I think he's being serious for real.
If you take life too seriously, you're not going to get anywhere and you're going to piss a lot of people off while doing it.
He's been married with children since 1984
I was fortunate enough to catch a concert (my very 1st, my older brothers took the manic 13-year-old me) just a month before he and Barb went to OZ to tie the knot.
Great song. Rick Springfield is very talented (and so fine 😘). ❤️✌🏻🎶
Every Australian teenage girl had the biggest crush on Rick Springfield, and we all wished we were Jessie's girl, 😂
Every girl everywhere wished she was Jessie's girl
Love this song! It was really popular back in the day! I STILL love it!❤
Dude! I was SO in love with Rick Springfield!! Posters everywhere ❤❤
He still looks damn good, too! Still hot. ❤
“Speak to the sky”…tell me you’re an Aussie without telling me you’re an Aussie!🤣
😂😂 you cracked me up! You don't know how many women and teens all yelled out "I'm that woman like that." I had a Big time cruch on him.
He enjoys the way she looks at Jessie, and just wants a woman to look at him the same way! Where can he find a woman like that!!❤
I had the biggest crush on Rick Springfield growing up. He’s so cute he could have whoever he wanted.
He played DR Noah Drake on General Hospital. Had a huge crush on him 😂
You sound like a friend I had, she was so in love with him. 😂😂😂😂
She had to rush home and watch every episode of General Hospital he was in, and listen to all his music. LOL
OMG your humor always cracks me up! The stick comment killed me.
He got offed, so it wasn't a lead role, but he was there.
died on the first episode of Battlestar also in movie Hard to Hold
@@mitchgriffin2150 Didn't know he got offed twice!
@@thebyrd433 I did not it was one of my wifes favorite shows growing up she told me about it.I just like his music.
This song was on the album Working Class Dog, and the album cover was that dog with the shirt and tie.
"You probably don't want anything fishy" 🤣🤣🤣 Your humor is one of my favorite things about ur videos!! Those who don't get it definitely need to remove the stick! 🙌 Looking at ur suggested videos, u still have tons of Genesis u need to check out! Definitely listen to I can't dance & Land of Confusion!! 😁
Wilddddd didn’t Disturbed do a song called Land of Confusion!? I have to listen to Genesis’s!
@@kaynesheldon4905it’s a cover of the genesis song.
Land of confusion will absolutely leave him gobsmacked !
@@kaynesheldon4905 yep it’s a cover of the genesis song.
He still singing this song in concert today and he is in his 70's
I have loved Rick since I was young. Back in the day when he had a cartoon on Sat. The Rainbow Conection. Still love him.
Oh, you made my day!!♥️♥️ Rick Springfield was every little girl's fantasy in the '80s. He wrote his own music, played the guitar and was even a karate black belt (my kind of man)! Gotta check out his other hits, "Love Somebody," "Affair Of The Heart," "Don't Talk To Strangers" and "What Kind Of Fool Am I." They're awesome!! Don't know who I loved more? Andy Gibb or Rick Springfield! Lol.😂
My husband didn't want to go see him because of his teenybopper fans. Sparks was opening for him, so we went to see them. Rick was so good we stayed till the end! 😍🤩
@@jeanfrancis8121 I'm so jealous! Lol. Sounds like you guys had a blast. When you get the chance, look up Rick's Live concert version of "I Get Excited" on TH-cam. I'm guessing it's from 1983. It is just, OH MY!!!!🥴 Makes me wish I was a grown-up back then. Could you imagine being at that concert and meeting him backstage!!💕
I’m 60 now, but when I was 20 I lived this song, my “best” friend literally had to have my GF, biggest douche move everrrrrr, cause he got her, for a night.
The dog was his dog, Ronnie - he went everywhere with Rick.
Rick Springfield had a big hit with this song. He was also an actor on the long running soap opera, General Hospital.and played the part of Dr. Noah Drake.. More of his songs: "Love Somenidy". " Don't Talk to Strangers"
"Affair of the Heart"
This was my first concert ever. He was so awesome!😊
Crackin' me up. 😂 You're a good man, Robert. One of my dear old high school friends, Dee, had/has a mad crush on Rick Springfield. She's been to so many of his concerts with several photos of herself smooshed up against Rick for a photo op every time. 😂😁
I’m in the league of women here that clicked so fast when I saw this reaction! LOL I was first introduced to him as an actor on “General Hospital” and had no idea he could sing.
"What Kind of Fool Am ?", "Human Touch"😊
Fun fact: Rick's current drummer, Jorge Pelacious, was in my HS class. Known him since the 80s. Cool guy.
I love Rick Springfield
I didn't appreciate how talented he was until I was in my 20s. He has a great sense of humor and just a great guy. I'm glad I grew up and gave his music a fair shot.
I loved Rick baby back in the day
Oh boy as a young teenager in the 80s this got everyone up and dancing
Rick is an amazing guitar player as well as being super cute, hahaha. I saw him live back in the late 80's and he was awesome.
Love Somebody and Human Touch 🔥
this song has stuck around as long as it has simply because there are a LOT of guys in this situation. you notice hes not making any moves on the girl, because it would ruin at least two relationships, but hes still stuck with wanting his girl...
My first concert was Rick Springfield. I was pretty young. 12 or 13. I would watch him play Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital every weekday.
I wore that song out on cassette tape back in the day! ❤
He wants the girl, but he wants to keep the friend.
He was Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital, back in the day.
First concert that I ever went to was Rick Springfield’s. My friend’s mom loaded up four of us eighth grade girls (and one poor guy) in her big whale of a car and took us to see him. We fan girled through the whole thing! 💕💕
Hi, BP--I'm Loving your smart, insightful, Funny reactions! I laugh every time I hear "The Boys Are Back in Tow-ow-uh-Ow-uh-Ow-own" slightly and hilariously off-key. Thanks for your Great presence & playful nature, as well as your more serious, heartfelt responses to the tunes that i grew up with. 💛🧡💖❤️💗❤️🔥
thank you for being apart of the fun ❤️
daaaanng - throwback to my first concert (Rick Springfield) - I don't think we realized back then how cheesy that swaying, snapping 80's dancing was - ROFL!!
Rick Springfield was my first concert. Hard to Hold concert. Rick was plastered all over my walls lol
My first concert too
Rick Springfield was also a heart throb on the soap opera General Hospital back in the 1980s.
fun fact, Rick Springfield used to have an animated series back in the 70's called Mission Magic. lasted one season LOL it was weird because back then he had an Australian accent then. he manage to loose his accent before becoming a big star in the 80's
he now host a weekly radio show on Sirus XM
He was a major heartthrob!!!! We all wanted to be Rick’s girl!!
*****RICK SPRINGFIELD also was an Actor on the soap operas "The Young & the Restless" & "General Hospital" !
Nick Gilder Hot child in the city..just because you're killing me and I know I'm going to love your reaction to Nick's song😂😂😂 Great reaction and Peace out ✌️ ☮️ 🙏
Love, love, love Rick Springfield!! ❤❤❤
I must point out that he wants “ a woman like that”, not Jessie’s girl.
No, he does say he wants Jessie’s girl. My bad!! 😂😂😂
Thank you 😂😂😂
