- Nobody has made a relevant guide on CAS in ArmA3 in the last few years so I decided to go ahead and do it myself. If you guys like this style of informational video, let me know because I wouldn't mind making more :)

left ctrl + right click - TGP
left ctrl + T - lock
Macers - Go into TGP, lock on target, Turn on laser Designator. Go back to cockpit, Hit R to reveal targets, press T to lock on macers, and fire.

The Macers are also IR guided as well so if you have a warm vehicle you can target it without the targeting pod
For some reason when I try to bind the “optics mode” button (the TGP) to my HOTAS, it never works, even though all the others work just fine.

Same thing happen with me when I first fly the plane. I actually got stressed for that.

Nice Vid man it came up on my recommended. I've been playing Arma for over a year in total now and I still enjoyed your video. Really easy to pick up when you're explaining the things as well. The thing that helps me in strafing targets with the main gun is by aiming my pod to the target, once you go back to your cockpit, you will see a small circle on your HUD pointing towards where your pod is looking at, this is why I have a hard time using the SU-25 contrary of the A-10

Couple notes: don't constantly leave on your laser like shown in the video. Only use it when you need to, otherwise any other aircraft flying's weapons may lock on to your laser by mistake. Second, the AGM-65G shown is not laser guided. It's IR guided, and will lock to hot vehicles.
I was going to point out the same thing. I'm guessing the mods they play with change that and force to use laser markings
@@PortuguesDC I replied to a comment earlier but yeah, it may be the mods I was running, but I was only able to reliably lock targets that were laser painted. Although, even if it doesn't lock the paint, it will still help newer pilots to see where their target is.
@@ItsAvyy I believe that if you have the ATGMs equiped while on the camera you can hit R to lock it ( not 100% sure)
@@ItsAvyy Definitely vehicle guided, shouldn't be affected by any mods really. You can always see what you're locking on to in the 'radar' view on the right side of your screen. Notice on yours for the Mavericks how it says the vehicle types, and not the laser. For laser guided weapons that need to be locked, that would instead say 'Laser Target'. Also like I said, typically not a good habit to use the laser just for seeing stuff. Its pretty common to then accidentally have other folks shoot at your laser instead of their own.

I never knew how to use the targeting pod let alone guided bombs and guided missles this helped ALOTT
By default, reveal targets is now set to the same keybind as target lock, which is T. R is next enemy

If you have a HOTAS flight system, could you do an advanced flying tactics video? While I'm not horrible at flying tips and tricks on gunruns, surveillance and or dogfighting tactical maneuvers would be really helpful
A presenter's voice we can hear over the plane noises. Short and to the point information based on a preconceived outline, not random mumbling about this and that. A vocal affect that doesn't sound like a hyper excited Monty Python character.
Concepts that seem lost on many other presenters. Nice job.

I would love to see a video about the F4 Phantom on SOG Prairie Fire,
me and a friend have been trying to get into CAS/Jets recently but,
there's not many comprehensive guides about it and it doesn't have the same luxuries as a modern A-10.
so you cant lase targets, or exactly view a targeting computer, there is a targeting 'scope' with calculated points of impact, but since most the bombs and rocket/missiles aren't guided it's up to human accuracy of the rear seat operator, pilots flight skill (keeping the Jet leveled and in a smooth flight path during a run) and knowledge of each weapon to effectively hit targets

If you don't already have one, I'd love to see a video on which air to air missiles are best for different situations.
Any idea why I cannot get unto the camera when playing Antistasi A3? We have captured several aircraft, 3 A10 among them, and I cannot access the targeting camera, like I can in the fixed wing showcase.
I have noticed this in other videos. Hud says A10T2 yet its still the A16W. Are you using a re-skin mod for the aircraft?

The wiki says they're IR guided but from my experience even vehicles that had their engine on for 10 minutes still wouldn't be hot enough for a lock. I'm not sure if they're just bugged or not, but a lased target seemed to be the most reliable lock for me at least.

I fly the A10-CII in the DCS. Im confused why the GBU's where dropped using CCIP because it should be CCRP which the game did not put. Im still figuring out when to drop the GBU's and Laze the target.

Yeah, I do like that there is actually quite a bit of depth to the jets in Arma. I wanted to keep this guide as simple as possible to get it under 10 minutes so I didn't really go over radar, and ir tracking missiles, etc. If enough people like this guide though I might consider making another or even a series of more advanced topics.
@@ItsAvyy then will you make another guides for other vehicles, drones, and static weapons, etc in future? That would be very helpful for starters
@@ICE-ii5ik I'll definitely consider it, it takes a decent bit to learn all the details and write/shoot the video but I'll see what I can do :)

What sound effects mod are you using? I've been searching for a mod that improves the awful vanilla GAU-8 sound but none of them sound the same.

Hey, can we shoot enemies accuratly from far away with out cannons if we use laser target? Does the same thing happen with rockets?.
If you use the Targetting pod for the 30mm or the Shriekers it will display a circle on the target which yes can be used to more accurately hit the target

First of all, thank you for making an updated showcase, helped out a lot.
Ok, so I'm having problems locking on my GBU-12 rockets, to my laser.
I turn on my laser and target a spot after stabilizing with "ctrl+T" (getting the red lazer indicator on the right side)
Then change to my BGU-12 and press "T"
That's where the problem occurs.
I only get the horizontal box, but never the tilted one. As far as I understand, this means that I have found my target, but not locked on with my chosen weapon.
Somebody please help :P

@@ademrax01 well i’m pretty sure you press R to lock onto your laser, you should see it lock on on the right side of your screen
by that i mean it should appear with “laser target” and that’s when you drop.

The only mods I had on that really matters is ACE, MCC, and The Mighty GAU-8 Avenger.

I’m having this issue where no matter what i do the macer air to ground missiles won’t lock to ground targets. The box appears around them but i hear no beeping whatsoever and i have no idea what else to do. Radar is on, target is even lased, it just won’t lock

It's just ACE that changes the name, otherwise it's the same thing.
ItsAvyy the cannon is 100% a different one. The one standard on as example the scenario has a different sound and the rounds dont explode
@@mikailmiko5899 Its the same exact thing. The A-164 rounds are explosive, these mods just make it look/sound different

Yeah, they can't seem to lock onto just anything you've laser-marked - vehicles without the engine running seem to be too cold to get a lock?

how can i focus the A10 its very hard to controle when i am going to make a gunrun
Use X (i think its default if not bind smth) for airbreaks, turn engine down to 0 when you dive and use mouse to control the plane for precise aiming
The macers can not be laser guided
The Macer did not work for me. When I pressed T, it cancelled my target instead of locking on.
OKAY. So figured it out a few minutes later. The Macer is not laser-guided, but IR. The vehicle I was targeting was spawned in very recently, so it wasn't hot yet.

what servers should I play for doing CAS?
Zeus Servers do it best if you can find a Zeus that wants CAS, but Warlords gives you the most freedom to do what you want with little repercussions other than wasting points you earn to buy your vehicles

The Wipeout doesn't have a radar, unfortunately. Macers are IR, I think, so only for warm targets?

Followed these instruction to the T, and I CANNOT get the macer to lock onto my target. I'm ready to punch my computer screen. (Doing the fixed-wing showcase, trying to take out stationary vehicles).
The vehicle's engine has to be hot, aka it has to have been running and moving for a few minutes in order to be locked onto. You won't be able to lock a stationary vehicle if the engine is off or cold. Sorry for the confusion.
