Reminds me when I had a random dude INSIST I gun for them while playing squad in a ground vic(never one to use important resources in fear of failure usually). The dude was such a good driver and had so much confidence in me, we soloed all of the enemy vics that round. Its really cool to see when people just have some confidence in some one who is worried about failure. Shits makes me smile, especially because its a team based game. Need your peoples to make stuff work. Be kind.
Same thing happened to me lastnight, I was door gunning and co-piloting for this dude and he started showing me how to fly to. Super cool dude even showed me how to fly and land the heli after our tail got shot out.
back in 2009 i was playing project reality and was struggling with the controls i asked a dude how to open the crate menu, he catched my accent and said "you familiar with the english alphabet?" i said yes he said "perfect!" and the mofo teached me every command on the game for 2 hours straight lol i fking love the MILSIM comunity to this day.

a good man on the helm is more important than accurate cannons because the helmsman can keep you away from getting shot

@@Sp00kq those windscreens are hardly bullet proof. You guys should try flying low and slow near stuff that wants to shoot you; bullets love that glass. it's round so they get deflected after penetrating but they still go through, especially higher caliber rounds, 7.62 and above will kill the pilot easily.
Having done door gunner in this DLC I can see why the US standard is the M134 now, can't miss if you throw 20x the amount of ammo at the target.

@@drewinsur7321 thats because the copilot can control the vertical alignment of the gun. his sight is attached to the gunpod and can be controlled up and down.
thats how it was (and still often is!) in reality on these little birds.

I was trusted to fly once in a public server. I can get from point a to point b, but it gets iffy about LANDING at point b.
We got our engine shot out and I was able to, for lack of better term, "glide" to the ground. Everyone survived and decided to begin the attack from where we crashed. They thought I actually knew what I was doing, without knowing nearly all my instruments were red.
That my friend is essentially auto-rotation.
Had a few lucky moments myself where my main rotor got taken out and I would glide down safely and survive.
The frisbee effect 😎 I love those moments! Makes you feel like you really contributed 😁

I feel like getting a good pilot in Arma 3 has a similar feeling of finding a gold nugget in a river.
"Most" TFAR servers from experience have good pilots most of the time or at least the same good ones. I can name a few with me included (not bragging but if you see Shazzy ill drop you almost anywhere in a huey)
Thanks for the pickup, I was also the one blowing the horn in the nasty boat. These official TFAR servers have been the most fun I've had in ARMA. Great atmosphere and mostly good group for a public server.

Drewski makes everything he plays look so fun. Then I go buy the game and I end up be terrible and struggling to enjoy it lol. But I can watch him play for hours. He also helped me come to the conclusion that Arma 3 is a better game than Squad. I learned Arma 3 is just more enjoyable in mostly all aspects after watching him play both and also playing both myself. Also, his helo skills are A1.

I am super new to this game. Heard of it and bought it like a week ago. I wish so badly that I had been playing it the whole time. I played alot of the solo stuff to actually learn the insane amount of controls. Literally seems like every situation is possible in this game. I was going to buy squad snd then I found this instead. I still want squad but man just having the ability to create any mission I want or even campaigns if I want was very enticing to me. Plus I am obsessed with ghillie suit snipers as well as A-10’s so I had to get this game. Hoping they announce the new one soon. It seems impossible to be abad game. They have had forever to work on it and one would think that the base game for the new one would at the very least start where arma 3 left off. Meaning we should have everything like jets and helicopters and what not in the base game and then they can add it whatever else. Some of the campaigns are a lot of fun too. They aren’t quite your epic call of duty type campaigns but they are realistic and thats what I want.
Drewski just seems like a really great guy! Besides making good videos and having them flying skills, it's really nice seeing how fun he is to play with for other people too. How he gives them a chance and supportive! Nice ^^ Good video Drewskli!

The random full servers from 2015 had the most skilled pilots and mil sim players i have ever seen...
Personally, one of my favorite things in any shooter is to be the random door gunner for people. Sometimes its dull, sometimes I'm the godtier gunner who downs an entire squad.

I honestly love playing on public Zeus servers, they are so dumb but still fun if you've got a good group of people together. It is rare that you can actually go ahead and do something spec ops style and you will need to make the best of many "operations" because the Zeuses tend to be unexperienced, also lots of dying and sometimes the players themselves are just the worst kind of people but
When you get a good group of people, a good Zeus, someone takes the lead who knows what they are doing and you don't have a pilot player constantly asking "cAn I HaVE a PlANe?!1?", it can be really, really fun.
For example one time the 16 ground players were split up into two groups and were taking down a bunch of outposts on the big island/penincula on the south of Altis. This evolved into a race between the groups who could take down the most bases and the Zeuses went along with it and started to make some more difficult which then awarded more "points". We still did them in a tactical way and weren't screwing around all that much but it was really fun.

me and a friend at the beginning of covid played arma three every night for hours, it was honeslty amazing the KOTH servers were fun to mess around in, but the frames ruined it for us after awhile only 25-35 frames dropping to 10 whenever an explosion went off starting giving us motion sickness

Arma 3 is one of the best game ever made with the best community of the world, i have close to 2000h playtime in Arma 3 and after a break of 2 weeks i cant wait to play again, and everytime you log in there are heaps of new content, realy great, i hope for an arma 4 in the future!
I would love to see an updated version of this but organized where you're in the OH-6 and working with one or two AH-1G's to make a "pink team". These were utilized by having the scout down low, spotting enemy positions or intentionally drawing fire and dropping smoke in those areas for the Cobras to then pop in and level the area.

I'm playing the SOG DLC on official server and while sometime nobody talks on comms, sometime people do talk on comm (or at least chat) and lead all groups.
It's the DLC that made come back to Arma 3 and it's a glorious one.
I regularly ask MikeForce some bomb/CAS marks when I play the F-4 and vice versa.
Usually it's the ACAV guy that take the lead because the ACAV group is responsible of building the FOBs and they can see where to drop bombs and ask for supplies.
Quick note about comm: on most official servers, you can't talk on the side channel but you can chat to communicate between the 3 groups.
Imagine being in war and you get killed by a guy in a helicopter who just fcked u up with a rocket and says "boop"
