I'm looking forward to Wang Yibo's drama the most I think. I watched Hidden Blade and I think he was phenomenonal in that film. Very promising actor. The drama's trailer on weibo looks high quality.
So, no specific date of airing War of Faith yet?!? This is the drama that is first in my list to watch this 2024. I've been impressed by Wang Yibo's acting performance in Hidden Blade & One and Only. In these two movies, he was nominated for his acting portrayal of Mr. Ye & Chen Shou in different award giving body. After watching Yibo in movies, I'm looking forward to see Yibo again in a drama series.
If not mistaken Zhang Kangle has a supporting role as some kind of Officer on Janice Wu/Wu Qian's costume drama "Faithful" which i think just aired last year..
I agree with that (Tibetan sea flower) it's really heart breaking to see author destroying his own characters especially his target is zhang Qiling, treating him as a side character 😭 I also heard rumors about subtle romance between ML & FL . When will he stop doing that , I still haven't finished Reunion because of him 😭
Well in unfortunately every part of the lost tomb series there has been a subtle hint of romance between Wu Xie and An Ning. I guess its to take away from the "bromance". Also in Sound of Providence there was that young girl with big doe eyes. I swear if they show any romantic sequence between Wu Xie and Zhang girl I'm dropping it.
At the mention of Netflix's Three Body - I'm wondering if there will be a second and third season of the Chinese drama? I think AvenueX said in a video that the original material consits of three books and the show is only the first one made into drama. Any information on that?
@@inhthihoanglinh6858 great!! Thanks for the Update. It's still a long time until 2026 but I'm glad it's underway... in the meantime, we can check out the Netflix one.
So it's not just me? I've watched AvenueX for a long time now and the jump edits seem more frequent lately. I literally can't watch. I love this channel, but only listen now.
How did they get their hands on Three Body? T_T This is one thing that it would've benefited them to search for the original. It's like when they say "everything tastes like chicken", gee! I wonder why? :|
I’ve been really looking forward to The Litchi Road ever since it’s announced the tv adaptation is happening, but 40 ep seems a bit too long for a 200-page mid-length novel that fully explored the potential scenario and possibilities behind one single line in history, “一騎紅塵妃子笑,無人知是荔枝來” by the Tang poet 杜牧. I thought it’d be around 24 episodes~
I probably won't watch the Gate of Xuanwu, but the actress playing the Empress Dowager looks exactly like Cixi. She could not look more like her. It's freakish.
Haha I understand. But that's Siqin Gaowa, and she's just very old now. She's a respectable OG and a force of an actress. I loved her as a wise matriach in the old legendary dramas 康熙王朝 (based on Kangxi's rule during the Qing dynasty) and 大宅门 (late Qing setting, about a prominent merchant family). I'm not sure how people not from China might respond to the deep traditional Chinese sensibilities and proverbs in these dramas, but I do recommend checking them out, they are full of soul and profound pieces of art :)
Johnny Huang,,, something fishy about this one too. For somebody with domestic abuse background, he is the one who plays the honorable military or police. and the top billing even to Reba…
his best role and drama. maybe forever. i think its the only role and drama he really put his heart and soul into. I think he is secretly at least bi and will forever feel trapped 😢
I mean, there are only so many hours in one day... And I'm sure there are already lots of other people doing reviews for those countries. (Maybe not Japanese, because they tend to be super strict about copyright.) But not all that many are doing it for c-dramas, especially not who also have so much knowledge about the country, the media landscape, and the industry. Why should she start reviewing dramas from other countries instead, when this is where her expertise lies?
You do look absolutely lovely. But I have to object to the blanket assertion that any group has no imagination. I'm not saying it because I'm an American. I'm saying it because, I've seen multiple productions from multiple international productions, India, China, Korean, UK, USA, that lack imagination. So to say, "Americans have no imagination" is just not nice. I'm excited for a Tang Dynasty Drama, but I wish it was Taizong!

Dang i must be the only one who likes the long shows! Give me 60 episodes lol. I’m sad when the good ones end.

thank you for the video, AvenueX! you look great! i have one comment though - what's up with editing? constantly jumping frames so hard to watch

I'll be very curious as to whether, when Western media inevitably write about Netflix's 3 Body, they mention or compare to the Chinese series.
Most early critic reviews I've seen so far (admittedly not a lot) don't.

You should consider doing short reviews of non-Chinese dramas, e.g. Korean, Japanese, or English language ones.
