I like the colors in this map but I've always hated how big Siberia is in the game. it is so big and doesn't make any sense. you almost never fight there and if you do you aren't even using all of it. not only that but it makes china so damn small and japan is doing almost half of its fighting there. If you measure out the length of china and Russian Siberia they are almost the same exact size. there's always crowding in those Chinese tiles. the 1939 version had the best ratio of china and Siberia in my opinion. you got all of the important Siberians tiles and china actually had a decent size to it. but it sucks because I want the 1936 game and the 1939 map for Asia. I really wish they changed this I seriously can't wrap my head around why anyone would want Siberia to be that big.

You are correct that Siberia could easily be shrunk and China expanded. They made that decision in Europe at the expense of Africa getting shrunk, so I know they are open to making such sizing changes. Typically, most of the time there is enough room in the Chinese land zones, at least on the 4'x8' map, except for 3 large armies. Japan might not have enough room for one of their armies, just depending on where they hit or are stationed. For example, they might maintain a particularly large and varied force in Kwangtung. I find that KMT and CCP usually have their forces in one main land zone. Given the 30+ army size KMT can sometimes reach, and the very large army Japan might end up stationing in Nanking near the end of the game, I doubt a map could accommodate those armies without the use of task force markers, even if it had the changes you propose. Do you find in the 1939 game that China is so big that you don't need task force markers?

@@GW36_EnthusiastFrom my experience there wasn’t much tile crowding in the 1939 china map. There are however sometimes you still get that espy from a large Japanese army but it was far less than the 1936 version. In the 1936 version I find most armies even smaller ones with a variety of units to always be overcrowded that being said I have the “normal” map because I can’t fit the large one anywhere. But to me the biggest issue is the size was downgraded as well as the number of tiles. In the 1939 version without counting Mongolia Korea or Formosa china had 24 tiles to move around with as well as being larger. The 1936 version however has 20 and it’s smaller tiles although it doesn’t sound like a lot I think those 4 tiles made a massive difference in how you actually played china and Japan. There was more movement. I believe china with less tiles now has a more predictable outcome for china and Japan. Still love the 1936 version better tho! Just kills me every time I look at china I think the game would be greatly improved if Siberia wasn’t so large and so many tiles.

@@jessefinney7306 Very interesting! I would think you are correct that having 4 more tiles in China would definitely increase strategic play!
