    These two curved 32:9 monitors - the LG 49W95C-W and Dell U4919DW - are basically the equivalent of TWO 27" standard monitors but with no bezels in between!
    Dell’s U4919DW is a 49 inch, 32:9 super ultrawide monitor with a 5120x1440p resolution… and so is LG’s 49WL95C. But which one should you get?

    I always had problems myself with a dual monitor setup or the likes and heard so from other people. Constantly working on one or the other side of the desk puts strain on the spine and neck and can lead to backpain and headaches. Using three monitors (or a similar configuration) not only remedies this problem - if the main monitor is in the middle - it also boosts productivity by over 30% (as opposed to just over 8% with two - according to a study done by Fujitsu, if i remember correctly). When working on a computer for extended periods of time, I'd always go for a config with an odd number of displays. Worked wonders for me.

    I just popped in to Microcenter today to look at these guys and they are indeed sweet! I kinda wish there was something closer to a 40" ultrawide though. 35" doesn't seem quite immersive enough for the racing games I like to play and 49" starts to get weird geometry behavior towards the edges. I'm excited to see what happens in this space in the next couple months!

But i've come to love the 144hz of the samsung, and now that Nvidia allows adaptive sync on Freesync Monitors, i dont feel the need to change anymore. Enabling Gsync on this monitor does work even though it's not in the compatible list. i've been running it since the January adaptive sync driver release with no issues.

    There is really no going back. I've got one of these for work and it truly is a productivity machine. One could argue that it'd be much cheaper to just get 2x 27" Dell monitors side by side, but there's something about being able to place your windows anywhere within a 49" space. You have so much more freedom with this thing.

      @@Tresla Thanks for your reply! I won’t be gaming on it, but I will be using it for music production so will need to be able to zero in on hair line (ish) details in wave forms. I’m currently using the HP Spectre’s 15’ 4k screen (3840 x 2160) as my center screen with two additional HP monitors, one on either side. I’m hoping that this Dell super ultra wide screen comes close in terms of crispness to my HP Spectre screen cause I’m a bit spoiled. My aim is to wipe out all the clunkiness I have between using three screens, two of which are actually lower res than the middle one (grrrr!)

  • @laurahealy2163
    @laurahealy2163 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I always use Dell because they also make a steel-stand (unlike Amazon's aluminum) that does make the Dell turn all the way up on it's side. I've used this on my designs (since I don't use the computer for gaming). Now, the steel arm for it is separate and you must pay attention because it highlights every model of monitor that it will go with.

      Running the two 49" Samsung 32:9 Super UltraWide and one LG 49" UltraWide 21:9 on dual GTX1080ti... no issues with FPS... SO yes if you are running dual 1440p or a single 4k monitor... then sure step up to a RTX2080(ti)... BUT it's not worth the extra expense if you are already running the a 1080ti setup currently. I get well over 100 FPS playing any game I want...
      IF you are starting out new... then it would be silly to run a GTX1080ti over getting a RTX2080(ti) setup. BUT to upgrade right now is not worth the money vs performance gains... If my setup could not maintain proper FPS... sure time to upgrade... BUT currently 100 FPS is more then enough to enjoy any game.

    Important note about LG’s 49WL95C-W max Supported Resolution. It is not the same for all interface types: - 5120x1440p for both Display Port and USB-C , but only 3840 x 1080 for HDMI . LG has a poor product description on the site, and does not specify this limitation on the specs (which seems caused by they are using HDMI 1.4 and not 2.0 interface). On the LG monitor documentation (paper), this specification comes clearly detailed in interface matrix chart, but you only see it after buying or if been informed before by seller or any forum. I planned to use both Display Port and HDMI, and this limitation was not suitable at all.Hope that information is useful. I would have been to me if I had it before buying the product.

    Having worked for so long on my two Dell U3011 monitors (16:10, 2560x1600), I'm super annoyed by the lack of vertical real estate on these ultrawides. Weirdly, the only 21:10 display out there seems to be the LG 38UC99-W, which for some reason still markets itself as "21:9" despite being a 3840x1600 display. And those 160 extra vertical pixels add up -- that's just over 11% extra vertical space than you'd get with 1440. Imagine trimming the bottom 10% off your display, and you'll understand my annoyance. 16:10 seems like such a sweet spot, I dunno why it's not the default ratio (other than to blame television). 5120x1600 32:10 would be so much more preferable than 5120x1440 32:9. And, it'd get you just 100,000px shy of the same surface area of a typical 3840x2160 monitor.

    • @tested211
      @tested211 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. It's pretty silly as that shallow height really limits the applications it's good for for productivity use. Even to watch a movie you're not going to benefit from much of that 49" width as the vertical height is capping the overall scale so much. I actually prefer shorter monitors ( to 2140 high) as I like the landscape format but 1440 is too short for most work. 1600 is the sweet spot IMO where there's enough pixels for the work and some interface but it's not so high that you're rendering too many pixels or just looking at everything at a larger scale. For now, the 38" ultrawides (3840x1600) are the only decent option for this. Also, this monitor looks like it would have a crazy amount of real estate but if I lay out the pixels in photoshop, it's not actually *that* much more real estate than a 38.

    LG re-releases this model every few yrs. It originally had suffix "-W" in 2019, then "-WE" in Jan 2021, now "-WY" in Feb 2022.
    The -WE is currently selling for $900 on Amazon.
    The -WY is currently $1k.
    Those might just be special 2022 Christmas season prices because MSRP still says $1500

    These 3 are great for gaming except when text/data crosses the bezels. Never quite matches up. (StarCitizen comes to mind)
    If I can replicate the screen height and width of these 3 it would be sweet.
    That's 66" wide minus 3" for the 2 sets of 3/4" bezels.
    Soooo going down to 49" wide ooohhh.
