It's August 2021 and I'd love to have the Rat Catcher but since the Crosman Custom Shop stop making guns I can't buy one but after discovering your video and other Rat Catcher videos I built one, it was my first build experience and it turned out great and with the longer barrel it has a big improvement in velocity which is what I was after. My current project is a 1377 with a 26" barrel!
You're spot on with the moderator issue. The Delrin one that came with my kit was fine with thinner pellets (Wasps) but the moment I started using wider ones (Crosman Domed) I feel like it was clipping the inside of the moderator. The result were very inconsistent groups. The moment I removed it I was back in the game
Thanks, great video. 06:59 Really important to drop a tiny bit of lube on the end. I never used to and if left a few weeks wouldn't come back out without major surgery. One difference between old & new is longer barrel which increases power from 5 ft lbs to over 8. Subscribed.
Looks like the inside of the breech is better designed, the little screw when you open the bolt was in a larger well and sometimes the pellet would catch as you push the bolt forward. 👍
your impact point is different due to harmonics, you changed a lot of the weight distribution when you put that moderator on,you may want to try diferent weight pelets, and diferent hammerspring adjustments ,once you find the right combo.to tightern up your groups, you will have a tack driver
Hi hope you can help I just bought this gun but finding the cocking bolt stiff when pushing it back when I have pellet loaded takes a it of force to push pellet should it be smooth and easy with or without a pellet in tray
nice rifle.it is not available here in germany, because the restriction of air guns.but i have got an 2240 pistol, and i am very pleased with it.it looks ugly, but it is very powerful and accurate.
iv got exactly the same rifle 2250xl.. ive put a whisper 130 on mine and having the same problem as you.. it started off ok i managed to zero in my scope everything was perfect and then i had pellets flying off in all wild directions.. i think its the actual unf fitting which comes on the end of the rat catcher.. the grub screw on the fitting starts to work its way loose.. it needs to be tighten in properly.. i have not got the correct size allen key to tighten it up.. will tell more once iv sorted the problem out.. its not silencer its the fitting on the end of the ratty which the sliencer fits o to!
you do? so I just got it recently and only fired I once with a pellet do you mind if I ask a couple questions about it? when I fired it seemed rather loud for back garden use am I right in saying that? And if I get a silencer for it would it actually make difference?
RYANRYAN1234567 ask aa many questions as you want.. am happy to answer any questions! And yes you will need a silencer.. buy a decent one.. the whisper silencer i got wasnt very good.. get a top quality one.. the wierauch one is the best i reckon! Also the rifle can be modded to a very high level.
Hey Rack n Load, love your show and your airgun reviews. iLIKE THE RAT CATCHER, BUT I WANT TO FIND THE OLDER ONE THAT TRAKES THE 88 GRAM CO2. CAN YOU GET THEM IN THE UK ANYWERE AND HOW MUCH. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK
When I put my gas in, and when I shoot all the gas comes out when you put the pellets in, I got the gun literally today... Am I doing something wrong or is the gun faulty? I'm tightening the cap hard and then lightly but no difference.
@@czechman09 Hi. it the bottom one of the 2 shown. i was wondering where the co2 captule meets the back end of the crosman does that bit come off? Cheers. Jim
@@czechman09 Hello again. i was thinking of doing the 12 gram adaptor but i can get the back bit of i dont want to damage the back bit ntil i know whats what.
I've got one of the standard Crosman Ratcatchers, with the shorter barrel that runs off a 12g cartridge, and like you say it's a great fun gun for plinking. Just out of interest, why do you wear the gloves in all your videos? To avoid getting fingerprints on the blueing, etc?
Your videos are great and your reviews are a big help and very interesting. The music at the beginning though... Hmmm.. not the best! especially when you're doing a noise comparison. Hay ho. keep up the good work 😉
nope.. you were right.. its not the grub screw its the moderator.. the air flow isnt correct.. the whisper doesnt work too well with the ratty.. need a different moderator!
I know what you're saying, I have an old rifle that fires fantastic but hates silencers, I'm talking nutty as a fruitcake twighlight zone just loses all accuracy.
@@paulmayne3216 More time for the co2 gas to push the lead, with these you get approximately 10fps per extra inch of barrel, but go beyond 24" and friction takes over, i read it all many moons ago on the www,it's probably still floating around in cyberspace.
Agreed. There is no need for it, but it is becoming more and more regular. Our friends over the pond are the worst for it! I stop and close every video immediately when such a deluge begins. I don't want to be negative here, but a possibly superb video is wrecked within seconds. Such a shame.
I am anticipating the arrival of two Crosmans tommorow. The specific to your video is the 2400kt wirh 14.6" barrel. I will have to get a feel for this one after it arrives, but am already wishing I had gotten at least the 18" barrrel and perhaps gone all the way up to the 24". Any thoughts on this and the added length of barrel vs. performance vs. cost? Thank you, Robert P.S. Enjoyed the video
Actually from the research I've been doing on low to medium power air guns, 14-18 inch barrels are about as long as you want to go. Any longer with guns that generate between 6-14 fpe and the pressure in the barrel will drop so much that your pellet will begin to decelerate. For the standard Crosman 2240 a 14" barrel is best, guns that shoot a bit hotter are best with an 18" barrel. If your going for high power air rifles (30fpe in .22 or 18 fpe in .177) then a longer barrel will still improve velocity and power.
I once tried the crossman .22 cal. co2 similar to that one, though not with the mega long barrel and what looks like a silencer on the end. It was just a simple stock airgun. with that stock setup and so on, I much prefer my medalist 10 pump over that co2 .22 . I was shooting at a 2 liter bottle filled with water and the co2 just wouldn't penetrate. Then I tried my medalist 10 pump and shredded that same bottle. LOL>>> and it was much more compact and badass looking too. Now that was some time ago, and I don't know if the co2 .22 cal. has been upgraded to a more beefy airgun, but I'll stick to my squirrel and rabbit hunting with my "combat medalist" as I call it .. . . . . LOL
Still a great pump gun even though it is mostly plastic, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxh4su9YgU1tWmjikirWcKJbjsFLEU62Bc but with care it will last a long time. It would be neat if Crosman would make a commemorative version of this with real wood stock, but of course it would weigh more and cost more, but hey, it would be cool. The included scope is more of a toy, but it does work for backyard plinking. I prefer to use pellets for greater accuracy, but BBs are just as good for plinking. This is not a Red Ryder folks; fully pumped it is 3 times the power of a Red Ryder and can be dangerous if not handled properly. Be safe out there.
Why are you comparing the 2250XL with the King ratcatcher instead of the 2250B or plain old ratcatcher? The 2250Bs forestock was notoriously bad for coming loose and the lack of a scope rail and the pitiful excuse for mounts were terrible. How could you do a review without actually firing the thing, that is like reviewing a restaurant without tasting the food? Oh god, I've become a grumpy old man, sorry.
Would I be able to operate the bolt as safely without wearing a glove like that? I'm a hand model so my hands have to be flawless or at least as close as I can get.
glem chally no you will turn your hand into a man's hand and not a poofs hand. So when modeling vibrators you won't get much work so keep the glove on.

I had the same moderator on mine, and it ruined the accuracy, so it was moderator off and accuracy was back, cracking little gun, loads of fun.
Sir the music really detracts from the quality of your vlog .
I have same gun. Best pellets for it are acu-pell. I tested a few, and cheaper pellets spiral, also pointed pellets spiral.
Your right about the air to bad you couldn't drill holes at the end to release the air so it doesn't effect the round with it still being quiet.
Can you still get bits for this gun? I bought a stock yesterday but would like to know where to locate a 14 inch barrel etc.
