Just got my CP2 through the door today, what a blast already put half a tin of pellets through it. Very fun, I get about 40 shots per 12g canister, maybe more but the velocity drops sharply.
I will recommend it to anyone who are looking for a fun CO 2 plinking pistol. Have not tried the carbine configuration yet.

@@Jimmycricket- I used the Rifle barrel and a small scope on a few close range rats after the chicken feed, the Rifle barrel gives the power to do it cleanly.
I imagine the 177 would do similar depending on its power, my 22 was 8ft/lbs or a bit more at muzzle if i remember right, what does Andy's review state.

Morning Andy. I bought the CP2 a few years back and loved it. It now stays in rifle mode with a ring foresight and a rear aperture sight. Just like the good old days when we shot without optics, dots or lasers. 😎😎😎

@@Frietpan No, I had to find a foresight unit with interchangeable hole diameters and a clamp for the barrel. The rear aperture was a unit attached to the dovetail. Took a lot of finding but it reminded me of me days with .22lr @ 25yds. We used a rear aperture and the standard blade foresight on the Lee Enfield Mk 4 No1 and 'tinhat' targets. Happy Days

The change in impact point is not because of the barrels, it's because of the silencer. You shot the rifle barrel with and the pistol barrel without it.
I have the Diana Chaser Kit and I can change barrels without even having to readjust my scope.
Well as long as I leave the Silencer on.

  • @unmissable

Great review. It look identical to the smk victory cp2. It's a great plinker for the back garden. I have a .22 version and it likes jsb exact jumbo rs 13.43 grain. I really like it in the summer, because it's really quiet in comparison to my remington express compact Springer which is also a nice little short rifle. But I tend to shoot that one in the winter when nobody cares about being in the garden. I like the rifles short because I shoot from inside the house out of the window to smother any further sound. Both are comfortable to handle in compact spaces. They are absolutely great rifles for my back garden in which I have a 20 yard shooting range. The little rail at the front of the rifle under the barrel band on the cp2 is great for attaching a torch to shoot when it is dark in the evening. Both are comfortable for standing shots, which is more of a test. I have had them both for about three years. No problems. If you feel the power dropping on the cp2 just replace the little rubber o ring and the two rubber bands on the barrel. It's a cinch to do.

Unless the Stinger is very different to any other CP2, the two-stage trigger is adjustable, although you do have to partly dismantle to get at the grub screws.
Just /under/ 500fps is absolutely ideal for 177 target pistol, whilst a bit of fettling (better oils and assembly) may well see over 600fps from the rifle in stock form. Whilst the pistol will easily dispatch a rat point blank in a trap, bringing a pistol to bear and aim is too slow, you need the rifle - and the lightweight CP2 is absolutely ideal. Properly set up and not over-powered by springs and things, the CP2 pistol and rifle can have very low fps spread, meaning incredibly accurate shooting with self-regulating CO2.

  • @Dirkietje8
    @Dirkietje8 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Andy, the trigger probably is adjustable as it is with the Artemis CP2, for it you have to remove the stock and then you can adjust the sear engagement length and weight I think. Its different for the Diana Airbug (pretty much the same pistol mechanical parts-wise) because you can adjust that trigger without removing the grip.

I am in the US. I have the Diana Chaser in .22 caliber. After all the fettling mentioned and doubling down on the rifle barrel work, mine shoots at 11.4 fpe, 600 fps using JSB 14. 3 pellets. I get 25 good shots before the pressure starts to drop. If the temperature drops below 45 degrees F it will effect the rifles performance. I put a Hawke 4 x 32 AO scope on and squirrels fall out of the trees at 25 yards. Do yourself a favor and get some CARM magazines. This is a great little rifle. Likes Hades for sure. I've got quite a lot of custom parts I've designed and 3d printed and a Norris drop block on it. Now weighs about 3kg but I do prefer it to my brother's HW100.

H&N Barracuda worked well until I went over about 12 then they started opening up. Hades didn't work get in mine until I was close to 12 but work flawlessly up to my maximum. JSB Knockouts were useless until I got to 16ftlbs. Now they work well but need a clean barrel however in a garden whilst fun no advantages and actually quite a lot more dangerous.

Interesting little gun. I am a lefty shooter, right hand for everthing else due to leading left eye! So a left mounted bolt may be a struggle.
    Great review by Andy.
One thing I would be interested in is a review of red dot sights. Getting older and loomIng cataracts means my eyes are long past their best so red dots certainly make a common sense alternative to struggling with open sights.

Hi Les, most snipers have a leading right eye, are right-handed and work with a bolt-action rifle with the bolt on the right-hand side. I certainly don't struggle with it, as my right hand also has finer dexterity. So, I think you'll find it will work for you too. Give it a proper try and you may even prefer it after a while.

Hi Andy, a nice review but one thing you didn't mention is that this kit has yet another feature - a small section of Picatinny rail under the forward sight bracket. This is ideal for lasers, torches etc, though you might struggle to get a bipod on there without making it harder to open the CO2 chamber. It's a fantastic budget/garden range kit though.

    • @GaisaSanktejo
      @GaisaSanktejo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

You're mostly right; that mount is perfect for a mini torch or laser, but I own two different brand variants of this particular airgun (.177 Victory CP2 and .22 Diana Chaser) and learned (the hard way) that attaching a bipod to that mini rail is a bad idea; the metal body of the gun can flex when using it with a bipod and this almost always threw my aim on both airguns.

    Another great review, thanks.
Guess it's rivals are the Crosman Ratcatcher, obviously without the ability of stock removal. And the Reximex Mito (PCP though) which has that rather nifty case... And a hat!!
The Crosman is a couple of ftp higher though.. Both are notably far dearer though
Which comes to the rub, as the gun can be used with the long barrel and without its stock, it falls well outside the 6ftp mark, and as such becomes a rather unwieldy pistol, and illegal?

This pistol is sold under quite a few different names..
    But it's the same model.
I have one and it's good value for money..

Hi Andy, see this gun is in 2 versions .177,/.22 is it possible to have a mix of the 2 calibers on1 gun ?

Gotta say, I have a SnowPeak, CP1M, in .22, and it is the most accurate, most fun, CO2 pistol (of the several) that I own. Can't imagine this pistol will suffer from it's maturity.

I have one of these (SMK). Like it but cannot understand why this one has decent sights and the PCP version doesn't (as reviewed last week).

You can get magazine mounts for this and the cp2 on eBay it holds all the magazines on the gun.

    Another nice review by AAR.
I'm starting to like these kits. Many different brands seems to exist though. Not sure what to get into - or what is the commonly thought as of being the best version of it. I am also still torn between if I'd want a co2 or PCP version..
Kinda sad this package did not come in a plastic case, but rather in a cardboard box. Now you'd need to find a perfect plastic box to fit that foam liner into.. Or at least I would like to have a plastic case for that..😁

Hi , yes I put all my collection in hard case or gun slip . Look after your equipment. Yes I have top of range rifles, but I still love kits like this . And at a good price 👌 . I bought a nice gas rifle last week . Got £100 0f. Milbro speedmaster , it fantastic 👏

I mix and matched this one with a Diana PCP pistol, I got quite cheap at a local store.
Actually, I used two "Ares", one in 177 and the other in 22.
      😁

My dear Andy, the silencers on CP1, CP2, PCP800 e.t.c, have also the function of an air striper. That´s why the gun shoots to high and inaccurate without supressor.

Great review as always Andy. A copy of the SMK CP2, but they can't go wrong with the design, I started with the CP2 and can't fault it. Still have mine in both calibre and enjoy taking them out for plinking and ratting........Great fun.

I've no interest really in Air Guns, I used to own a replica 6 shot revolver pistol, which I can't rember the name of, it was fairly hefty, black with a wooden stock. Anyway, I found myself watching this review, and what a great review it was, informative and well presented, many thanks.

Great review as always and a great looking bit of kit there. If I had not converted my Crosman 1300 .22 Medallist II in a similar way, I might be tempted to buy one. The only thing I have not done with the 1300 is put a longer barrel on it. Looks more like a machine pistol than a rifle.
