    JoesGE.com is a pretty cool place (depending who you talk to it might be more than pretty cool. But hey, I'm just writing this down so that it says something down here, because that's more professional right?) and if you're still reading along at this point you might as well sit down and grab some popcorn because this is about to trail on about how we are this premiere repair service located in Washington State North of Seattle in basically the "Armpit of the US" near Mt Baker (Mt Baker has the world record for most snowfall at 1,140 inches in a season). Even though it can smell bad around here we love the fresh air and being near the post office and in a quiet sleepy mountain town certainly gives us much closer access to Team Turtle and Team Beaver (Watch our "Who, what, when and where is JoesGE?" video if you don't get the reference).
    All this to basically say that we are all addicted to coffee and stay in the warehouse for ridiculously long hours in order to keep up with the demands of the youth for these two-sided head audio devices and speakers that float when you throw them in the ocean or in your bathtub to test if they actually float. On top of that, we do like it when less stuff ends up in landfills so we hoard everything on shelves with wheels so that we pollute less, it just sits in our warehouse losing molecules slowly over time degrading to become smaller and smaller.
    If you are still reading at this point you deserve an award, or a high five, or something because you must either be the most patient person on the planet, or you read blogs frequently. And if the latter is the case, then this whole thing must seem pretty short so let's keep going.
    We do some really interesting things here at JoesGE which are frequently documented in our sometimes weekly sometimes never vlogs.
    Also, if you are wondering how we keep up with the demands of the people so well, its because 90% of the people that work here are all Russian around getting things done most of the time. Yes, that was a pun, you are welcome. We hope you have a pun-filled day, because who couldn't use a few laughs?

    • @mattg1168
      @mattg1168 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it does look like that, and I would absolutely expect that to happen. The diaphragm is so thin that it will heat much more quickly than the thicker material enclosing the battery. I haven't tried this repair, but if I did, I'd completely cover the driver on that side with a masking tape so no hot air would leak through to it. It's likely this damage would not stop the driver from working, but it would have some affect on the sound, and possibly the longevity.

    Trying to find this out everywhere but can't get any information on it. After removing the ear pad and felt insert, like you did, what the heck is that large white corrugated stiff ribbon like structure that is partially covering the driver. Why is it there? I've never seen any other headphone bock their drivers like that. I thought maybe it was there to deflect the midrange and the highs so that they wouldn't sound so sharp by going directly into the ear but honestly, this is just a guess. Do you know what it's there for?

    I suggest to first cut the battery wires, that will prevent any sort of shorts when soldering. Start with B+ (red wire). The wires are a bit longer than needed, I cut them at the bend. Then use some soldering wick to remove the excess old solder from the pads. It will leave the pads nice and clean for the new replacement battery wires.

    removing or installing the Lithium-ion battery without insulating the wires before threading through the pcb is just poor technique - risk short circuit of the cell.

      @@Joesge Oh, wow... cynical much?
      One could argue that before your battery offering, the cheapest you could find a replacement QC35 battery for was Bose's own $259 out-of-warranty replacement service. How would frustrated customers react to Bose asking them to let it know if they could find it cheaper? Probably with about as much amusement as I'm feeling for your quick quip.
      What can I say... capitalism rules! (I guess it won't be long before enterprising Chinese undercut YOU, though, so enjoy it while it lasts)

    • @Joesge
      @Joesge  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could argue that. That is why we sell parts that are hard to get so we can help people who Bose doesn't seem to want to help. We have no issues competing. Seems to be working okay.

    • @guyo68
      @guyo68 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Joesge I acknowledge the fact that this will prove helpful to some people.
      I merely pointed out that to me ("in my book"), for what it is (a diminutive, low-power battery that can't take more than peanuts to manufacture, and perhaps a few dollars more to roll down the supply chain) - this item is overpriced (arguably cheaper than Bose's outrageous out-of-warranty replacement fee, though still overpriced).
      This does seem to be working for you and those biting the bullet, however, so what do I know... more power to you!

    • @slothypunk
      @slothypunk 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@guyo68 while it is overpriced you need to think about it for a sec... do you thought of this before buying Bose headphone? That maybe someday you need to service them? Maybe next time just buy something more affordable in the first place? Try Sony, they make good headphone and I am pretty sure the replacement cost is a bit cheaper! If you bought Bose, do you ever think that the product itself is pricey than what you can get from other brand? So don't complain, just pay those $45 every 4-5 years and quit complaining, unless you have better alternative!

  • @enkay110
