Steps to fix your device.
1. Heat up the outside cover of the earbuds
2. Pry off the cover
3. Remove the glue on the outside rim
4. Take off the ribbons connected to the mainboard
5. Slowly pry up the mainboard (Be careful)
6. Pry the battery off the board
7. Unsolder the battery from the mainboard
8. Solder on the new battery
9. Put the device back together
10. Get back to jamming out 🎵

But hey, I'm just writing this down so that it says something down here, because that's more professional right?) and if you're still reading along at this point you might as well sit down and grab some popcorn because this is about to trail on about how we are this premiere repair service located in Washington State North of Seattle in basically the "Armpit of the US" near Mt Baker (Mt Baker has the world record for most snowfall at 1,140 inches in a season).
All this to basically say that we are all addicted to coffee and stay in the warehouse for ridiculously long hours in order to keep up with the demands of the youth for these two-sided head audio devices and speakers that float when you throw them in the ocean or in your bathtub to test if they actually float. On top of that, we do like it when less stuff ends up in landfills so we hoard everything on shelves with wheels so that we pollute less, it just sits in our warehouse losing molecules slowly over time degrading to become smaller and smaller.
If you are still reading at this point you deserve an award, or a high five, or something because you must either be the most patient person on the planet, or you read blogs frequently. And if the latter is the case, then this whole thing must seem pretty short so let's keep going.

Also, if you are wondering how we keep up with the demands of the people so well, its because 90% of the people that work here are all Russian around getting things done most of the time. why you need to replace the battery?, mines are been in a box for about two years (I lost it), now I found, but after all night charge, nover turn ON Bluetooth LED, and cannot connect. the LED into CASE are all ON, it maybe the battery damage because no use in long time?

You have saved my bose headphones. I lost my right one, brought another which i learned having the same color makes a difference. Getting the ame color right then finding out my left was dead after years of no use. I took the other i brought the first time and ripped it out and transplanted it into my orange bose. Next they it was charged and was listening to mastodon on full volume!! Thank you very much!! I learned a lot and I got to fix my headphones!

THANK You. I have just ordered replacement batterys from you. I sadly lost my working pair of these earbuds.. My loving husband bought me the new QuietComfrot II . and I absolutly hate them .. I am very dissapointed with Bose for them. after 2 days of fighting with the new ones I couldnt keep them paired to my phone & they wont stay in my ear no matter what "support" band and tips i used. And my phone calls , are absolute crap. who ever im talking to can hear EVERYTHING in my background but ME. We sent them back today. So now its a desprate attempt to fix / replace batterys in my OLD pair of Soundsport . Crossing fingers my repair / battery replace goes well.
UPDATE.. WOOT.. Got the Batterys. OMG the wires are SOO tiny and very very delicate.. but OMFG.. IT WORKS!! THEY charged and they work..

I've got a question: Does the Soundsport wireless (the wired ones) battery could work installed on the SoundSport true wireless (the earbuds)? I have looked around and they are pretty similar.
The are actually different batteries. The soundsport free ear buds use a 1454 battery, while the soundsport wireless (with wire) use a 1654. Both batteries are made by Varta, but you can get the same battery minus the connections a bit cheaper made by HQRP. You'll probably need a tack welder to use those though
Do you know if this repair could be done similarly with just a standard replacement battery instead of the kind that has tabs welded on? Does solder stick to those batteries?
We have never tried to replace the battery with a different model one.

My issue is the buttons on the right ear bud have come off/ destroyed and the right earbuds Bluetooth light doesn’t come on even though the case is fully charged, the left earbud seems to be good but without the right earbud working the entire headphones is not powering on

hello mate, i've seen your guide and willing to follow this to replace a battery. is it necessary for me to use flux or can i soldier it normally? as well, when you remove old battery, can i just simply try to gently pry it without soldering gun's help?

You can but it makes the repair way more difficult

Hey awesome video? How did you go about getting the replacement battery? Is it only made by bose or can I but it at any battery selling place? I'm in California. Like obviosly it's not a nickel sized 2035 battery, does thus bose battery have a size number?y left ear bud just went out and it dies after about 5min after a 100% charge. THANK YOU! Can you repair Bose QC Earbuds too?
Do you have any idea where I can get a working replacement main board for the right side earbud? I found one on Ali-Express and swapped it out, but it still won't go into pairing mode

Thank you, if i get the wireless free from your site, they are new correct? and will they last up to the original 5hrs like the original ones? thing is now mine are only good for about 1h 40 min from full charge and I know the will degrade over time, had em since 12/19 so not really mad cuz i know how lit ion works, but dont wanna plunk down another 180 if i dont have to, thanks in advanced.
They should last like the original unit. Unless your board is damaged in any way

Hi man, I have a question, what could be the most common causes of battery damage on Bose sound sport free headphones?
If left in the case too long, could the battery overcharge and damage?
To answer your question. Yes it just dies over time. its better to let it die outside the case if you plan not to use it for a while. I had mine in a case for several years and yeah the case was fine after charging it but the headset was dead even though it says it was charged.

I wish you had a repair shop in South Africa… the official Bose retailers here don’t offer battery replacements. My earbuds hold charge for just an hour. Once they die, if I give them a few minutes, without charging, I can switch them on for another 2-5 minutes of listening time.
Is there a factory reset or any other alternative?

the battery in this video is a "CP 1454 A3" isn't it? thats not the same as the "LIR 1654" because the cp 1454 has 90mAh and the LIR 1654 has 120mAh? plus the size is different i am right? because i am struggeling to get a new pair of cp1454 for my headphones

this repair is not as easy at it looks. be prepared to throw away your headphones when trying this repair. I have all the correct tools as I do many electronics PCB projects and this is a very tricky repair. The one thing that he does in the video that he does not point out is he has damaged the blue tooth antannae on the PCB by scratching it when prying that cover off, you can see the scratch on the board if you pause the video. The position you use to pry the cover off is crucial and if you stick that screw driver in slightly too far you will scratch off the antannae on the PCB or something else. I got luckily and only scraped off a bit of the solder mask around the anntannae. But someone with a heavier hand will damage it for sure. Look closely at points in video at the PCB to find a safe position to start prying with the screwdriver to get the cover off.
Secondly. This repair video is done with a headphone that was previously taken apart (as seen by the scratch on the PCB in the video) so it appears very easy to get the cover off, this is just not the case. if you have a pair of headphones that have never been apart, the covers are very difficult to remove. and you will get get scratches and damage on them and the out rubber surround.
Third, the wires that connect the speaker to the PCB are EXTREMELY delicate and will break off the board if you are not very gentle with them. and resoldering them to the board will take a microscope and very small point soldering tip.
The simple fact is this video was done by someone who likely works in a repair facility and has much practice at this and this, it's just not something the average person is just going to do their first time out of the gate. It WILL take a very steady delicate hand and all the required tools to succeed at this one.

How the cover came off so easily? in my case the cover won't move 😒 (using heat gun too, but not sure what's the temperature as it's a simple one)

The heat is set to 200 degree C in the video.

Both me earphones started discharging only in 45 mins. Bose service centre has told they don't change batteries and i have to buy new earphones only. Is there a place where I can buy these batteries in India and get it fixed? Are these batteries very easily accessible?
