    A good option is buying a psa complete lower and complete upper. You can get one for $330. $100-$200 for a mags and ammo bundle and a sig romeo 5 red dot and a rear sight with transfer fees and you time it for free shipping, you'll be at $700 with a sling, ammo an optic and back up iron sights. Leaves room for a light and some miscellaneous upgrades to furniture if you wanted.
    If you know what to get, you can build a pretty solid rifle for a grand and have a good quality barrel and bcg which are the most essential things to ensure are quality. But if your first rifle, just buy something that's from a quality manufacturer and you won't go wrong, you may want to upgrade things but just keep it as is and shoot a bunch. Figure out what you like and don't then save if you want to build one. Save $1500 and wait til holiday sales and you'll get stuff for 50% off and free shipping and build an incredible rifle. Take that time to research more.
    First rifle I bought, I could have bought a higher end rifle with the amount of parts I swapped out on it like a daniel defense or bcm or geissle.

    Nobody ever talks about the tools needed if you build your own. Do you own an armorer’s wrench? Roll pin starters and punches? Torque wrench in foot pounds and inch pounds? Maybe you know someone who can help or whose tools you can borrow, or maybe you live in the middle of nowhere and need to know how much those tools will cost.
    Then there’s ammo. The rifle and magazines are nice, but won’t do much without ammunition.
    How much would it cost to build option 3 or 4 if you needed tools and wanted 6 full magazine of a decent self defense ammunition?

    It’s been a few years back but I bought a freedom line m4 profile ar15 from palmetto state everything minus the lower for 299$. Cut the A2 sight post down removed the delta ring replaced the barrel nut with one for a free float 25$ keymod hand guard from eBay and installed it all. It’s been a sub MOA ar 15 for me since doing all of that. I later replaced the Anderson lower on it with a 35$ damaged lower I found a yard sale. The lower had a damaged trigger pin hole I used anti rotation pin system to fix the issue with the pin movement for 11.99$. It’s got a Simmons 3-9 mildot scope for 70$. Last year I took a doe at 250+ yards with it. Been a good rifle for what I’ve got into it definitely budget.

    My AR15 build was inexpensive and incudes a scope for $574. I bought a PSA blem lower for $125 and a AR Stoner upper 1:7, 16" for $229. It's topped off with a Vortex LPVO 1-8x24 for $220 that included the Vortex cantilever 30mm mount.
    The AR stoner upper is optics ready meaning there is no front sight. Additionally, the barrel is not chrome lined. Which saved me at least $200 maybe more. What? Why the hell not?
    I shoot this build as often as I shoot my other rifles, I have Browning x Bolts in .30-06, Remington 700 SPS in .22-250, which isn't that often. I don't live near salt water, I don't live in 100% humidity like in SE Asia nor do I compete. I clean my rifles after each hunt or trip to the range.
    I feel the chrome lined barrel it isn't necessary for my AR since my other rifles aren't chrome lined. Now if something were to happen to the barrel a replacement can be had for $79 at Midway and even I can replace a barrel with the number of YT instructional videos out there.
    I also opted for the AR Stoner optics ready because I had a Sig Romeo 7 mounted on the previous upper and the front sight was in the way of the red dot. That didn't like. So I sold that upper which more than paid for the lower with change pay for most of the cost of the scope.
    That upper can still be had at Midway for $100 more than what I paid for it in 2019.
    Keep in mind that a custom build no matter how inexpensive or expensive is hard to sell. If you buy a Colt, Ruger, PSA or any other brand and don't modify it you'll have better luck selling or trading in one day.
    I used to work at my LGS and we'd have to low ball guys who wanted to sell outright their ARs or trade for another because we new that AR would be on the used rack longer than anything else. They make money on quick turn around not inventory.

    • @jerrodbates8480
      @jerrodbates8480 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No everything is not compatible.... i would recommend "mil spec" parts for your first go. It just means the specs (measurements) are all going to be the same, compatible. There are different "specs" and it's possible to mix them but easy to screw up without experience... so for the sake of simplicity and learning I would say get milspec parts. At3 tactical has a whole series on building ARs and in depth videos on all components.
      It may also be smarter to buy a cheap rifle first and practice taking it apart/reassembling and learning everything that way, before investing any $ into potential mistakes as you stumble through the confusion.
