I have a Cayenne 4.5s and totally agree with your comments in the video. It’s a great car with a fantastic engine! I won’t part with mine at all. Just keep in mind the running costs and when things start to break. I have experienced that this year with rubber hoses and radiators! Expensive, but once done, I hopefully don’t have to worry about it. Other tip, get yourself a good Porsche specialist to carry out servicing and works!

Hi Joel, I had one (2003 in Blue) for about 18 months, a year or so ago. I loved it. 15mpg is about what I got with 22mpg on a run. The Turbo, be prepared for 12mpg (ask Dean). Parts prices are a bit steep. Lots of niggly things went wrong for me over that period. But would I have another? YES !

Excellent content Joel! I share your sentiment with the Cayenne, used to think they were hideous and now I own a Turbo one myself! I think they’re the best looking Cayenne they’ve ever made! I would definitely fork out an extra 2/3K and get a Turbo model. (maybe slightly impartial being a Turbo owner) However, the amount you get extra as standard with the Turbo and sheer performance you get, is definitely the sweet spot. Only thing the Cayenne S has over the Turbo, is a sweeter soundtrack. However I’m sure an exhaust modification can sort that out 😉

Joel as usual great review, I've lusted after these since they first came out with the 957 GTS being my model of choice, after years of BMW patronage I ditched my 7 series and got a Porsche, surprisingly I was enchanted by panamera turbo instead, I love it to bits but now think a 957 is till warranted, maybe a leggy 957 diesel or cheap GTS,if I'm lucky. The build quality is excellent, and the aftermarket support is immense, I get the Porsche thing now, buy top of the range and the level of engineering and equipment at this level is second to none.
I'm porsche for life now and can't wait until you get a tubo, but save some cash and get a 957 it really is the sweet spot if the series, the 955 is an ugly duckling, says the guy with a 970 panamera 😂😂

@@E50AK Yes, the V8 is a diva, this was the main reason I went with the V6 natural aspirated. If you take care (wait until is at temperature before driving at high revs, etc...) then is an engine that would last forever. No overheating issues, no gearbox problems, other than the "normal" tiptronic behaviour, that sometimes when going into 4th from 5th it smashes the gear abruptly in. It keeps giving me a heartache every time it does, but I heard, it is "normal" with those old tiptronic gearboxes.

Always loved the Cayenne. Have a 987.1 Boxster S and a RR Sport 4.4v8 and this is the only thing I’d consider swapping my tank for.

I honestly think it is still a bit ugly at the front. It's just a 996 with the bottom of it stretched upwards. It is like a photoshop job. Facelifted they do look nice though.

I just watched a video of many problems with the Cayenne, and the price of ownership shoots up rapidly after the warranty expires. You could end up paying more for the repairs than the vehicle.

I rarely agree with Clarkson but I do agree the styling is horrible. If you want a 4x4 you want something that looks rugged, not like an inflated frog thing. If you want a Porsche you want something that looks sporty... not an inflated frog thing.
TBH, I could never look behind me after locking it up and think "hell yeah". One for posh mum to do the school run in... letting the other mums know hubbie earns enough to buy a Porsche. Not a fan.

Looking through your channel Joel I've literally watched every single video nearly lol! I find that some channels will have a car I'm interested in and when that stops I sometimes stop watching certain channels. I originally started watching your videos with the 760Li as I love BMWs, don't really have much of a thing for Porsche or Jag but I keep watching, your content is great and just a really likable guy, enjoying the Jag series even though I've never really even looked at jags! 👍

If you're wanting a Cayenne, I think the Turbo S is the only way to go and hard to resist the 521 bhp.
If you're on the fence about a Turbo at 450 bhp, I'd say go for the Range Rover Sport Supercharged V8 which is 385 bhp and you won't be disappointed. I've had a few RR Sport Supercharged and they are great cars, but for me the Turbo S and 521 bhp is really tempting. Just make sure you have deep pockets to deal with the ongoing maintenance let alone the times it breaks down and needs big repairs. More bhp the better 🤣

I often see run down 1st gen Cayennes getting around and people actually swap out the tail lights for Chinese ebay crap. It's nuts, the tail lights are fantastic looking on the 1st gen. I dunno, one day a 1st gen would be nice. But I currently have 2 E39s, 156, 166 and a w220 s320, so it's makes even less sense at this point in time.
