Controversial - the best albums are those without members bcs it gives additional pieces to analyse and feel the concept, best example is the storybook hidden object covers of red velvet. However for solo close ups are great if it matches concept (sunmi and baek do that well). I disagree with your opinions (everything about orange caramel is perfect including the catallena cover), but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all... Love your vids as always

And you’re so right about JYP album covers especially Twice’s. I’m convinced that if they could had breaks long enough like txt’s then their design team can definitely come up with better album covers cause the girls deserve it.

I feel like album covers with group pictures are very limited because you have to fit like alot of members (usually)in a small square so they cant really pose alot etc?So it just becomes like a normal pic with idk a background. I wish they could go more pictorial with portraits. While on the "non group photos" albums they are really either a hit or miss? Sometimes they are just so lazy and sometimes they are so well done, i think RV does the best job on those kinds of covers because they feel like they tell a story and introduce you well to the concept(sorry for the very long essay!!) I would really like see you re design some ateez or mamamoo albums, would be very fun because both groups usually have no group pics and are pretty consistent!
Really wish you’d done some of f(x)’s covers. I think they, like Red Velvet’s albums, having a concept (which is funny since their music videos were so bland from 2012-2013, including Pinocchio, but only in the main set design). Pink Tape is such a fun cover and has a very strong personality. Then Pinocchio is also amazing, which is does seem a little staged, but with the hand drawn illustrations and the shiny cover, I actually think it looks better than most would assume and it carries over to the disk. Electronic Shock is ok, I don’t like that it doesn’t have a title on it (I feel that just bad advertising, since books and movies don’t do that), but I like the bear in their name, though the fashion choices are so ugly. Hot Summer is ok too, but the original is the best. Then you have 4 Walls, aka the IKEA magazine and Nu ABO, aka the meh cover. Both just don’t really look good. La Ch Ta single is ok and I don’t mind Chu’s cover, but only due to the fashion.
I can't believe you didn't say the invu cover is perfect, Taeyeon always delivers albums that take on a journey from start to finish while most kpop albums only look at the title her album cover fits every song in a way

Like the simple design and 2 colour palette, is like their standard, it's the same for anything they release and it gives a really polished look. I’m with you on pretty much all of these EXCEPT for you putting SHINee’s Misconception series so low!!! Those 3 covers are some of my absolute favorites in kpop, especially given how their color palette and surrealism suggests the atmosphere of the albums musically. For misconceptions of me, nightmare, orgel and evil all lean into a a darker, eerie and more haunting side, which matches so well with the faceless bodies, the melting surfaces, and the suspension of the scene. On the other hand, misconceptions of you is brighter and more vivid, while also retaining its intriguing complexity, much like hitchhiking, punch drunk love, dynamite or spoiler. I think they wonderfully come together in misconceptions of us, the only of the three album covers that shows the face of the bust we saw in the previous 2 covers. It’s almost like making a point that neither of the two “sides” presented in the other albums does not fully makes sense without the other. Only together they can be understood as a whole. I’m likely reaching, but this interpretation makes sense to me :)) anyways this isn’t meant to change anyone’s mind about them, just to give a glimpse of why someone might find those covers masterful! Also misconceptions is one of my top 3 SHINee albums and has about 4 of my top 10 SHINee songs of all time, so I’m understandably passionate about it
i LOVE eunbi's album cover SO MUCHHHHH for the color era. i know it doesnt rly connect well with the title track but oh my god its the B TRACKS. if you ever decide to choose one, please listen to speed of love, its my absolute favorite song in the album and it screams how the album looks like. (not even an izone fan or an eunbi fan but god that comeback was so good)
Yes, RedVelvet cover albums are so unique and very stunning to look at. They actually don't have album covers tbh. Definitely, RV would be my favorite album covers of all time.

Honestly completely agree with your ranking! and when they're all grouped together you can see that the top shelf ones look nice next to eachother as well while the lower tiers are just a mess to look at. Crazy how much of a difference it can make!
The album covers that min heejin creates are always artistic and amazing. Red Velvet’s and SHINee’s are especially my fav and both fit the concept perfectly.
I'd actually love to see you redesign TWICE albums since you don't seem too fond of them! I agree with you for the most part on them, Summer Nights and Twicecoaster look like they were made in PicsArt IMO. But I am a FANCY YOU defender through and through. I agree that the cover could use more purple but idk... I'm a fan of the composition. Anyways I'd love to see what you'd do with them if you were to consider redesigning them. 👀 As for LOONA's section- They're my ults so if you don't mind... The whole thing just kinda came off as cheap, ESPECIALLY THAT FIRST TEASER- GOD I HAVE A BONE TO PICK WITH BBC. ok so picture this. it's 2020, and apart from 365 and Haseul's hiatus announcement, we haven't gotten anything from the girls in almost a year. But then, loona o'clock strikes and we get a teaser. a comeback teaser. For the first time in a year, we get an official comeback teaser, an image of what's to come. Finally, the girls are back, unfortunately not all 12 but it's good enough. And you wanna know what that long-awaited teaser was? A FVCKING PICSART EDIT OF THE FIRST IMAGE THAT POPS UP WHEN YOU GOOGLE "RED MOON" I SHIT YOU NOT. And when I tell you it had the most basic font too. The only possible way it could've been worse is if they used comic sans. And in response to this, orbits did what orbits do best and made fun of BBC. I took part in it and with many others made our own comeback teasers using PicsArt. And you know what? Every single one I saw was miles better than the original. But they achieved their first win in this era so I can't be too mad about it.
I rmbr being so happy when beat box teasers and albums came out bcz I LOVE IT SO MUCH :D sm clearly has a good creative team(I mean, just look at rv and aespa), but they are so hit or miss with nct! 127 has sticker and punch, but then there’s favourite with that basic as font and mannequin poses😭😭 And dream has hello future and glimo, but then there’s reload😅 I like all of wayv’s tho, the consistent v is very nice~
I might be biased but the Maverick album cover was SO PRETTY AND COOL. Like especially because the definition of ‘maverick’ is someone who goes against norms, and it matches really well because you have the pretty flowers in the background and then the digital green alien like device with the word on it. If you haven’t seen it PLEASE SEARCH IT UP bc it’s a masterpiece.
iKON's Return is probably one of the best album covers ever, can't believe it ranked pretty low here. And yeah, album covers without the idols photo are GREAT, but somehow IVE's Love dive album cover always looks really bad to me idk why
actually jype worked with one (or more?) design studio to design the album for their group (i know this for day6's album), but i think the problem is from their internal creative team who always ended up choosing the ugliest designs (mostly for twice). or at the very end they decided to just design it themselves very last minute to make a very effortless ugly design...
Ughh the sticker cover just gets me everytime ITS SO POWERFUL THE DARKNESS IS SO LOOMING ITS SO PERFECT edit: Cherry Bomb is also top tier for me, I just love looking at it, it's such a sharp image but still very rounded
I'd really like a part 2 with more groups, I think it would be cool if you checked out ONF's album cover's as well since they don't feature the members on the cover and usually look pretty unique and cool imo in the kpop scene
Seems like our tastes in album covers are completely opposite because i ALWAYS prefer group pictures on covers over the "clean" covers(unless it's something detailed like revefes covers)
I love how stray kids' noeasy's logo means 'noisy' and 'no easy' at the same time but when we come to the color - font choise... Idk. Noone will say "so aesthetic" when they see the package first time. Even tho, noeasy has super quality songs, guys, go and listen them. Also sorry for my poor english lol.

Kai’s first mini album in top shelf and peaches in hidden behind the cute ones I think, I think peaches is nice but really not interesting and very forgettable to me but the first mini album in comparison wooaaah so stunning + perfectly captures the sound of the album

i agree with some being good and some being bad, altho prolly bc im a jype stan, i find some twice's later covers aight (except fancy u, that's no), skz's covers are hit or miss lately, esp the later ot8 ones (u should def check out the i am you mini. ik ur not into the group pic thing but the type and color scheme is sooo good and fits like THE entire mini album. highly recommend! yes even the songs haha) i actually like miroh's album cover bc miroh comes from the korean word for maze that's why it's made that way. solid album too! i wanna recommend day6's album covers but they're 99% group pics but some are done so well like their entire the book of us series (minus demon but u would like it too as it conveys title track well). the ones i dont rlly agree with are chungha's querencia (that type is horrible imo it bothered me when i was listening to her album when it came out chsjfj) and thrill-ing (it looked boring and thrill ride is SUCH A FUN SONG. maverick was a huge step up tho) anyway this is an awesome vid bc i thought it's only me who notices so much from kpop digital album covers
i pretty much agree, i also really love BTS' HYYH: Young Forever and IU's Love Poem. and i think Mamamoo is a worst case than Twice because their minimalist covers never conveys the eras to me, but at least with Twice we can see their outfits and get the hang of what the songs might sound like

They eat it up” The truth is so loud 😭 YG’s tricks of starving us with BP’s (group) releases works all the damn time and we (most of us, which is still so many since BP is very popular) eat it up all the damn time. I’m tired of it but we’re not in control of BP’s schedule (and not that I want us to be) but YG doesn’t listen to blinks 🥹 We don’t want them overworked like Twice but for a group that comes back once a year, they could prepare an album of ten songs to feed us. Some of the rookies’ discography have more songs than all of their songs combined.
I didn't agree with everything (notably, I don't mind Twice's covers, I think Sunmi has some of the best covers, and I don't like TXT's) however this was still very fun to watch and some of your comments were just so funny 🤣

sigh i love skz but i feel like their album covers are always a miss. their concepts are great but the execution is ugly. would love to know how you would rank EXO, they tend to follow a similar pattern to how TXT do their albums with their logo being the dominant design and changing to fit the concept in a super minimal way. The war and Lotto are personal favourites for me.
exo‘s are mostly simple but definitely consistent which I like, personally I’d rank exact and lotto in cute, the rest probably right below, the power of music though…….hate it

Yes, RedVelvet cover albums are so unique and very stunning to look at. They actually don't have album covers tbh. Definitely, RV would be my favorite album covers of all time.
i wish txt's design team could make their album covers look as elegant and well thought as their logos do, which are always SO ON POINT in every era
Taemin's album covers are such masterpieces. MOVE, Press It, NGDA are my favorites. Especially the CD design of NGDA. omg, it's literal ART 🎨

Honestly completely agree with your ranking! and when they're all grouped together you can see that the top shelf ones look nice next to eachother as well while the lower tiers are just a mess to look at. Crazy how much of a difference it can make!

I'd actually love to see you redesign TWICE albums since you don't seem too fond of them! I agree with you for the most part on them, Summer Nights and Twicecoaster look like they were made in PicsArt IMO. But I am a FANCY YOU defender through and through. I agree that the cover could use more purple but idk... I'm a fan of the composition. Anyways I'd love to see what you'd do with them if you were to consider redesigning them. 👀

Yeah, I agree with everything except for Kim Lip's but I can see what you mean. I also absolutely DESPISE [#]'s cover. The whole thing just kinda came off as cheap, ESPECIALLY THAT FIRST TEASER- GOD I HAVE A BONE TO PICK WITH BBC.
ok so picture this. it's 2020, and apart from 365 and Haseul's hiatus announcement, we haven't gotten anything from the girls in almost a year. But then, loona o'clock strikes and we get a teaser. a comeback teaser. For the first time in a year, we get an official comeback teaser, an image of what's to come. Finally, the girls are back, unfortunately not all 12 but it's good enough.
And you wanna know what that long-awaited teaser was? A FVCKING PICSART EDIT OF THE FIRST IMAGE THAT POPS UP WHEN YOU GOOGLE "RED MOON" I SHIT YOU NOT. And when I tell you it had the most basic font too. The only possible way it could've been worse is if they used comic sans.
And in response to this, orbits did what orbits do best and made fun of BBC. I took part in it and with many others made our own comeback teasers using PicsArt. And you know what? Every single one I saw was miles better than the original. But they achieved their first win in this era so I can't be too mad about it.

I rmbr being so happy when beat box teasers and albums came out bcz I LOVE IT SO MUCH :D sm clearly has a good creative team(I mean, just look at rv and aespa), but they are so hit or miss with nct! 127 has sticker and punch, but then there’s favourite with that basic as font and mannequin poses😭😭 And dream has hello future and glimo, but then there’s reload😅 I like all of wayv’s tho, the consistent v is very nice~
i honestly love when the album is just a plain background with the artist in front of it and a cool font for the album title and group name
I might be biased but the Maverick album cover was SO PRETTY AND COOL. Like especially because the definition of ‘maverick’ is someone who goes against norms, and it matches really well because you have the pretty flowers in the background and then the digital green alien like device with the word on it. If you haven’t seen it PLEASE SEARCH IT UP bc it’s a masterpiece.

iKON's Return is probably one of the best album covers ever, can't believe it ranked pretty low here.
And yeah, album covers without the idols photo are GREAT, but somehow IVE's Love dive album cover always looks really bad to me idk why
Return has a really cool type but for an album this good I was expecting more
actually jype worked with one (or more?) design studio to design the album for their group (i know this for day6's album), but i think the problem is from their internal creative team who always ended up choosing the ugliest designs (mostly for twice). or at the very end they decided to just design it themselves very last minute to make a very effortless ugly design...
this was so fun to watch!

I'd really like a part 2 with more groups, I think it would be cool if you checked out ONF's album cover's as well since they don't feature the members on the cover and usually look pretty unique and cool imo in the kpop scene
Seems like our tastes in album covers are completely opposite because i ALWAYS prefer group pictures on covers over the "clean" covers(unless it's something detailed like revefes covers)

I love how stray kids' noeasy's logo means 'noisy' and 'no easy' at the same time but when we come to the color - font choise... Idk. Noone will say "so aesthetic" when they see the package first time. Even tho, noeasy has super quality songs, guys, go and listen them. Also sorry for my poor english lol.

Kai’s first mini album in top shelf and peaches in hidden behind the cute ones I think, I think peaches is nice but really not interesting and very forgettable to me but the first mini album in comparison wooaaah so stunning + perfectly captures the sound of the album
I would also add Key's Bad Love album, like that one must be the best album design EVER

i agree with some being good and some being bad, altho prolly bc im a jype stan, i find some twice's later covers aight (except fancy u, that's no), skz's covers are hit or miss lately, esp the later ot8 ones (u should def check out the i am you mini. ik ur not into the group pic thing but the type and color scheme is sooo good and fits like THE entire mini album. highly recommend! yes even the songs haha) i actually like miroh's album cover bc miroh comes from the korean word for maze that's why it's made that way. solid album too!
i wanna recommend day6's album covers but they're 99% group pics but some are done so well like their entire the book of us series (minus demon but u would like it too as it conveys title track well).
the ones i dont rlly agree with are chungha's querencia (that type is horrible imo it bothered me when i was listening to her album when it came out chsjfj) and thrill-ing (it looked boring and thrill ride is SUCH A FUN SONG. maverick was a huge step up tho)
anyway this is an awesome vid bc i thought it's only me who notices so much from kpop digital album covers

i pretty much agree, i also really love BTS' HYYH: Young Forever and IU's Love Poem. and i think Mamamoo is a worst case than Twice because their minimalist covers never conveys the eras to me, but at least with Twice we can see their outfits and get the hang of what the songs might sound like

YG’s tricks of starving us with BP’s (group) releases works all the damn time and we (most of us, which is still so many since BP is very popular) eat it up all the damn time. I’m tired of it but we’re not in control of BP’s schedule (and not that I want us to be) but YG doesn’t listen to blinks 🥹
We don’t want them overworked like Twice but for a group that comes back once a year, they could prepare an album of ten songs to feed us. Some of the rookies’ discography have more songs than all of their songs combined.
I didn't agree with everything (notably, I don't mind Twice's covers, I think Sunmi has some of the best covers, and I don't like TXT's) however this was still very fun to watch and some of your comments were just so funny 🤣

would love to know how you would rank EXO, they tend to follow a similar pattern to how TXT do their albums with their logo being the dominant design and changing to fit the concept in a super minimal way. The war and Lotto are personal favourites for me.
That's the reason I would never buy a skz album. It's reallyyy not my taste although I like the music and members
exo‘s are mostly simple but definitely consistent which I like, personally I’d rank exact and lotto in cute, the rest probably right below, the power of music though…….hate it
