I don't mind it too much if a group is singing with a backing track (especially if there's choreo involved/or they need a break from live singing since singing live all the time wouldn't be healthy) but at the same time, I've noticed that performances are slightly more elevated when there's live singing. Facial expressions aren't as "perfect" and imo bring a lot of emotion and emoting into a performance; someone singing a hard high note with a blank face takes me out of it (yes, they are talented people but they won't look the prettiest when they're singing hard riffs or high notes). I know that facial expressions don't equal stage presence, but having appropriate expressions really makes a performance even better imo. That being said, straight up lip syncing is needed sometimes (even if it sometimes hinders the performance in a way) but I kinda want idols to get better at that bc why are they missing the timing to their own songs, their own lyrics and their own part lol.
Xiumin was right when he said that if you can't sing well, no matter how good you are at dancing, you won't look talented. But at the time so many kpop stans were annoyed with his statement. I guess he hit where it hurts but he was definitely right.
I understand what he means but I think singing well (like baekhyun level) is not a necessity for every member, unless you mean they should atleast be stable and confident enough to sing with their mics on, then yes I agree
@@nctiddy of course not as good as the EXO trinity, but at least stable vocals and on pitch. I don't expect idols to be as good but they should have improvement over time.
@@wintertingz she isn't tho to be very honest...she's gotten flack for the first day on the job and she knows she's not a great vocalist (literally aware of the critique in the doc) so atp i dont think critiquing her over and over again will do anything and there comes a point where people dont know how to tell the difference between constructively giving advice and just reiterating and bashing an idol for not being AMAZING skill wise in a certain area.
But people like Momo who is one of the best dancer in the industry is still clearly talented even if her vocals are extremely weak. Dancing is also talent and same with rapping, but you atleast have to know either singing, rapping or dancing.
NCT 127, Aespa, Got The Beat, Everglow, Ateez, EXO, Shinee and Red Velvet had good bridges. One thing I just noticed is that most groups with good bridges are from SM. So we can always expect good bridges from SM groups.
@@vixxexo6855 that's why SM is the best music-wise. Even if you don't like the songs they always hire the best producers and deliver the most detailed songs
@@vixxexo6855 I might be biased cuz theyre my ult group, but i'd say Twice has some pretty good bridges, their old ones were better but their new ones are still pretty good
those 127 live stages got me SOOOO HYPED... made me realize once again that actually, i do care, i want idols to sing live more often,,,,, even if it takes away from the choreo bc i agree that music shows get boring quick with them just doing the same routine everyday...
glad we all agree on this point, hopefully things change in the coming year I think companies need to hear some more complaints otherwise they won’t bother
It’s sad this industry have come to the point where it doesn’t even matter if you can’t sing, you can get a pass if your pretty/handsome enough.. Like I want me some live raw vocals, imperfections and all.
it’s soo crucial to make the audience A believe what you’re singing about and B enjoy watching you perform on stage, it’s really not enough to just see a perfect choreo we need REAL voices peaking through, even if it sounds like yelling I’d rather hear you try
@@nctiddy right! it just makes it seem like there is no passion whatsoever. doesn’t matter how good the choreo is, i wanna hear it, even if it is yelling and screaming, it’s better than nothing at all. otherwise, it’s just repetitive and boring hearing the same studio ver vocals.
Remember the bang chan situation? Kpop fans want thier idols to speak thier minds but once they do its over. I think its better to just be quiet… in the end of the day being idol is a job and ur representing the company not yourself only.
I've always been a live singing truther because it makes the performance SOOO much better you can't even compare it's much more cooler to watch, I also dislike how short the songs are becoming 😭
I feel like many people "don't care" about live vocals because they think the prerecordings ARE live. Stupid, ik, but many stubborn and persistent fandoms behave like that, because they don't wanna imagine their favs lip syncing, they think it's "cheating". Hope that changes too... When sm gives their idols 1 chance to sing, they eat it up every time :v
Honestly, I feel like I'm slowly starting to drift away from kpop and getting slightly bored. Groups like NCT, EXO, SHINEE, RED VELVET, TXT and ATEEZ r the reason I'm STILL here and holding on. As long as I can count on them and they continue to do what they're doing, then I js don't care anymore. (btw I'm not tryna hate on groups if that's what it sounds like😅)
I have to agree.. I desperately want these groups to do better and that sounds so weird when we know how hard they already work but the focus is put on making the choreography as difficult and complicated as possible when, really your focus should be on live performances and live singing, ateez are the prime example of a group that understand what it means to entertain the audience and make them care like I cannot be bothered about a group that doesn’t even care to sing live on the regular? good music and nice outfits can only get you so far
ngl i get every group of thoses except Ateez. i used to like them, and their story lore is still nice. But all they do music wise now is Noisy beat up bad ass concepts over and over again for main title tracks. I miss things like Wave, illusion and Answer. But all we got is noisy ass guerilla, bouncy and crazy form. Nearly the same concepts for me nothing new anymore to them tbh, which is very sad i think and a waste of potentional
@@kathyesch7040 yhhhh that's so true but I love noisy music so it don't matter that much to me. But I really hope they release something like deja vu again cuz that song is SO GOOD and it's what got me into ateez.
@@kathyesch7040i completely get not liking noisy music, but it’s weird when kpop fans say it’s all the same when it’s completely different genres, like guerilla is psychedelic rock, bouncy was hybrid trap and crazy form was edm infused with latin elements. Not to mention the halazia erasure. But I can understand it not being to everyone’s taste bc i was the biggest metal head and edm fan before kpop so it definitely suits my taste
i absolutely need a company to debut a gg with a magical girl concept. wjsn & loona on hiatus, lovelyz & gfriend disbanded, ily:1 & csr are trying but no one cares abt them 😰 i just need it!!! a group of 8-12 girls singing abt their lives as guardians of another galaxy, being fairies, or secret princess spies! just pure sugar-y fun with lots of synths & glitter!
I think SM's next girl group will have approximately 7-8 members or so I read on Twitter, so I hope they make a unique or fresh concept like the ones you mentioned
That Tempo acapella still gives me chills. EXO, Shinee, BTOB, Infinite, and Red Velvet spoiled me so much on vocals. I'm so happy for E'last, I really like their music and the direction they're taking with their music. I hope we get more good things from them.
i wholeheartedly agree w/ the first opinion. i think most fans who think idols should give more of their opinions are young & bit naive (and that’s not necessarily a bad thing) and just want validation from their faves. it especially sucks when it comes to certain “political” opinions/issues. it’s one of the reasons i had to rmb idk these idols personally when it came to boycotting bc 9/10 idols are either using, endorsing, and/or sponsors for those products & they’ll get backlash for speaking out on either side due to one reason or the other.
Right, it’s just not realistic to expect an idol to be informed on every current topic, they get like 1 week a year off after working day and night on the daily, also whatever they do end up saying will either get misconstrued or might just sound really dumb to most of us „normal“ people…especially regarding political issues I would prefer none of them to speak it’s frustrating enough to see celebrities in the west be so uneducated
Also the whole boycott mess is stupid anyways. Like boycotting american brands won’t stop a middle eastern war. That is self explanatory, the war is in the middle east and not in the USA.
@@vixxexo6855the us and uk literally fund israel what are you on about. it's not as simple as "oh the 'war' is in the middle east so america has nothing to do with it"
all the exo examples for the bridges are literally my faves from exo 😭 their bridges are just chef kisses from heaven also the tbz examples aaaaa u understand me saur much
I also think Billlie is doing a great job at being creative in the kpop industry nowadays. Their discography has been unique and golden from the beginning. And they have a set storyline in their music videos and song titles. Plus, they're great at singing live. Exemplar group 👍
Nct's fact check live stage gave me chills cause its been long time I saw that kind of vocal heavy performance since Exo used to do live stages in award shows 😢
The juyeon and tbz shout out in the end gives me life honestly. I feel like as fans we aren't used to hearing raw vocals like how it would've been in the 2nd gen because of the latest gen push for perfection from the companies' side and from the fans themselves. It's a vicious cycle where fun one-off performances like winning a music show becomes a proving ground for your faves talent and it gets bloody fast, and then idols/companies are more hesitant to sing live if there's a chance of a slip up. It's gotten to the point where SM, a company that renowned for the best vocalists in kpop, barely allowed their groups to sing live from 2020 onwards (for the longest time, Onew was the only idol from SM that actually sang live during a music show and that was in 2022). The idol business became much more than just music and talent, they're trying to sell "perfect" beings that don't have off-days, always look beautiful and never sing bad and because of all of this straight up just live singing without a strong backing track will become obsolete even if the fans or singers themselves don't want it to. It's all business at the end of the day, and people buy albums even without the live singing. love your vids btw
In 2022 Red Velvet sang In my dreams live too. Honestly I never understood why SM could not let their idols sing live, when SM artists are the best singers in the industry.
omg thank you SO MUCH for dedicating part of your video to onlyoneof !! their identity is so incredibly unique and distinctive. they deserve so much recognition ᰔᩚ ☆
triples are literally the most innovative group out rn, they know what they want to do and they are executing it flawlessly, from concept to bssides its just s good. I may sound biased as a wav who ults them, but I just wish people would give them a chance
i said this to someone else, but itzy getting rid of their self-love concept is so interesting to me & kinda shows that companies don’t do a lot of thinking when it comes to creating groups & growing their artistry. musically, despite almost being a 5 year old group, there’s aspects of itzy’s sound that i feel like they’re still exploring when at this point they should have a whole new sound & commit to it. if ur doing girl crush then do it. if ur doing quirky then do it. conceptually & cinematography wise, they’re completely losing themselves. youtuber mera made a video abt this a year ago & i reccomend checking it out! long gone are the fun, bright colors and the individual personas. welcome to bat caves, hazy filters, & office core. imo, their change in concept & cinematography would not be as big of a deal if their team wasn’t being wishy washy and actually decided on where itzy is gonna go at this moment in their career. imo, itzy should’ve stuck to the bubblegum pop sound & concept before switching it up in 2022 to a more girl crush concept like they’re doing now. they remind me a lot of spice girls & little mix so idk why their team isn’t following in those groups’ footsteps or hiring the creatives who worked with them. srry for the long rant, it’s just been something ive thought abt for a long while.
by a “whole new sound” i don’t mean it literally. i mean that itzy at this point and time should not be sounding like the same group during their rookie years or doing a poor imitation of it. yes u can still explore aspects of that initial sound, but it should be more elevated & less juvenile.
I also noticed their newer music videoes lack budget. Their newest song Me Vampire is good, but the mv is boring and has nothing to do with vampires. Like that song had good potential to have a quirky vampire mv, but JYP decided to not give them any budget.
I don't agree with you, many Internet users criticize Itzy that she should have stayed in their bublegum concept. But the very concept of Itzy is to change the concept each time you come back, so if you don't understand I advise you to go see another group that doesn't take any risks and is monotonous and boring. Then Itzy can't remain a group of teen crushes forever, so stay in adolescence because she's getting older. You tell me about Little Mix but this group also never had a fixed concept, it continually changes concepts (Itzy was probably inspired by Little Mix because it gives me the same vibe, well-being, self-confidence, woman independent.) People who say that Itzy should have stayed in the bublegum concept is a bit selfish because the hatred she has for herself is due to this concept. Because the majority of Internet users do not find their image. Because she made a comeback with Sneaker, Internet users said that it was too childish when she is clearly the little sister. So when it comes time to give, you have to know what you want, it's tiring.
@@vixxexo6855 I think people don't understand how you can have 7 mv and have all the video clips be of super quality, it's impossible because otherwise you'll blow the budget. In addition to saying that their mv is not expensive then what would you think of the Nmixx mvs because clearly their mvs are even much worse than Itzy, that is to say that we know that the budget of the mv is not not raise just seeing the intro.
I'm SICK AND TIRED of companies basically forcing idols to sing notes THEY CANNOT REACH or completely ignoring group positions 😭 This is HEAVILY directed at Twice, The fact Nayeon consistently gets more lines then Jeonghyo even though both are actively better vocalists than her, This isn't Nayeon shade, Shes literally my bias, but ill be damned if I sit here and pretend Nayeon is a better vocalist than Jeonghyo
Idk if many people feel this way but I've said it before and I'll say it again I really really dislike the prelease songs trend and I hope it ends in 2024, it feels like a group would post like fucking 4 prerelease songs that when the title track is uploaded it doesn't feel grand anymore cause we've already seen prereleases and we already know what to expect and it just feels so underwhelming like I miss having a grand comeback day with the album drop and all but the prereleases just don't make me excited for the comeback
i think the main problems with pre-releases are 1. the songs are mostly mid & don’t give me much of a reason to follow the release. 2. the mvs are boring & uninspired (cough cough itzy) like u actually spent money on this and for what??? and sometimes the concept is so different from the one that was advertised that i just get annoyed. 3. too damn long of a wait. i shouldn’t have to wait 2 months (xg) for ur album. literally just sucking all the excitement out of the release. the only good pre-releases IMO are the pre-releases for newjeans’ debut & ive’s “ive mine”. xg was fun until august ended idk why they waited so long to release their album.
I do agree with you, excessively teasing a comeback weeks before is not exciting although I do like a solid prerelease from a group that hasn’t been active for a long time like with exo it felt really special
I think only four times preleases were done well in kpop. When BTS released Black Swan they really gave it an unique mv with a different instrumental (I actually prefer that one) and then another mv that was official mv. Blackpink and Chungha also did their preleases well and treated the preleases as singles like western artists do. Like Blackpink promoted How you like that and Pink Venom as if they were the main song. (G)i-dle’s prereales Allergy actually had a connection with the title track Queencard. In Allergy mv they introduced us to Soyeon’s character that is an insecure girl who wants to be pretty and they continue to show her story in Queencard.
A song should be long enough for 1. An intro (that is not a chorus) 2. 2 verses (before and after a chorus) 3. 3 choruses (after each verse and brigde) 4. A bridge (not another chorus) 5. A highnote How are you supposed to fit all that in LESS than 2 freaking minutes?...exactly you cant. Goodbye
As a Doyoung ult, we all know he fucking hated the lipsynching days, my boy loves nothing more than to sing his heart out. So glad he finally gets to again!!!
You know, I don't have a problem with idols lip syncing on music shows as long as they sing live everywhere else. I think it's become the norm now and although I'm not defending this I've gotten so used to it to the point I don't even care anymore. However, I absolutely hate it when they lip sync anywhere else other than a music show.
Shout out to BTOB. They're the king of live vocal performance. BTOB is well known in SK but unfortunately under appreciated at international because of the mistreated from Cube ent. They're one of few group that still produce songs with full length, the bridge in their song is the best.
I remember when newjeans - cookie has like fully flesh out outro. [the yeah yo part] I really wish their new album will have longer song. (they better remake get up into full song)
you're one of the veeery few channels that ever talks about and/or praises TXT so i'm always here showing some support 🥰 also 2023 kpop had me so bored that i've started digging deeper into the 3rd gen and i've fallen in love with red velvet too so ... love your content! keep it up 💖
I personally think Monsta X is doing a great job with being creative in the k-pop industry these days! They have never really abandoned their title as a "Beast Idol" and have been releasing songs that are new yet still goes along with their aggressive, sexy style. They are also really good at singing live while dancing to intense choreos. Their 2022 MMA stage is a great example.
ooooh something we need to stop doing in 2024 is creating dances for slow paced songs. if u don’t grab a fucking mic & sit on a stool chair & just sing 😐 and the dances are almost always bad like why??? and yes im talking to you triples & newjeans. 👩🏾🏫
Really heavy on the live vocals opinion. That's why I stan groups like Ateez, xikers, kiss of live, and dreamcatcher amongst a couple of others. It's quite disappointing how many fans don't care or really can't tell when a performance is live or not which some companies have become really good at making prerecorded tacks sound live so this isn't totally the fans fault. The majority of the performances from these groups they have their mics higher than the backtrack and it just makes their performances so entertaining. Lipsynced performances are so boring to me so I do hope more groups perform with live vocal constantly this year.
One thing I don't like is the lack of albums. Groups have soooo many singles and eps but no albums. I miss seeing an album drop (instead of every song being dropped one by one) and spending the day soaking it up
Exactly! All music shows and awards ceremonies blends in one to me because they all look the same, sounds the same and seems to do the same. Few groups stand out now. 😅 I tought the last point was us, as fans, we should act different in order to K-Pop to change.
ok i didnt see your story but PLEASE SING LIVE MY DEAR LOVELY BEAUTIFUL KPOP BABIES IM THIS CLOSE TO GOING AWAY FROM KPP WE IF DONT GET GOOD PERFORMANCES BACK
even if it’s messy, voices break here and there or they’re a lil out of breath I think it adds so much to the song and energy, it’s a two way street you can lipsync and dance well but I want to hear your voice
The concept one is so real, the disappoint i had in my face when Ms. Jihyo decided to debut with baggy jeans and a brown color palette. Same with purple kiss and their new comeback, if they become just a other group who does what's popular, i might drop them the same way they did with their concept
I don't think purple kiss dropped their witch concept, they just did a summer song and concept. Their original concept hasn't made them more successful anyways, so it's understandable why they changed their concept for their latest comeback.
i compeltely agree with the first opinion but that's the reason why i love blackswan. blackswan are not afraid to be authentically themselves and (fatou specifically) speaking on her beliefs and what she stands for (regarding palestine). maybe it's because they are all foreigners or that they are still kinda nugu but i like how almost every blackswan live is chaotic and looks like they genuinely have fun (ik they kinda face some critisicism with those lives but the responses are mostly positive) and i love how they also clap back to their antis
Sm groups' music is just so timeless it's insane Like aespa, nct, exo, red velvet, tvxq,f(x) LIKE pls can the k-pop industry start copying them Hits after hits
I really agree with the short music and live vocals part. I dont even think we can make those, "wow vocal moments in kpop", videos anymore cause of this. The short songs are probably cause they want more streams. Its smart, especially if youre as good as new jeans and XG (yes i know theyre global but imma still count them), but people are getting tired of this and will only watch their vlogs now.
The moment EXO starts performing you will see right away it exudes GREAT TECHNIQUE just by watching how their mouth moves. Even when they sometimes lipsync a song you can still see they apply vocal technique when performing it. These days new groups just lipsyncs all the time and act cutie cute. They are too afraid to look ugly opening their mouths wide when singing or maybe they just dont know how to sing and relies too much on autotune and pitch correction devices.
obviously live vocals are a much more preferred choice. however, i don't think music shows were ever about live vocals w/o a loud backing track. they are for promotional purposes only really. hence why every idol looks so put together and the performance feels repetitive. that's bc they are just advertising their song and album in a way. yk??
Heavyyy on the bridge part... like why cant companies see that like 80 percent of the time the bridges are the best part :( like bite me had SO much potential but nooo they had to make the song under 3 minutes... at least talk saxy had an earth shattering bridge.
honestly I’ve come to realize that most of these points are the reason I started to ult ateez over other groups I previously favored. although I still really enjoy groups like txt and enhypen, it feels like they’re starting to suffer from that ‘popular group syndrome’. the songs are getting really short, and what’s with the sudden lack of interesting visuals? since when did txt start doing one mv per comeback? these two groups used to make my favorite videos ever. admittedly txt is getting back there with both visuals and music, but enhypen is just…idk. all that to say that ateez really stole my heart by excelling in those areas. live singing, stunning concepts, and songs that are 3.5-4 minutes long. also, I’ve definitely been going through an sm phase recently. I’m in love with their concepts and music production. groups like exo, aespa, red velvet, nct, and shinee are just sooooo interesting. I’ve even been checking out riize these days. on the other hand, jyp in general has fallen off for me. I just don’t have much interest in any of their groups, especially itzy. originally nmixx was part of this disinterest, even though they were my fave girl group in 2022. but with soñar it looks like their mixxing concept is coming back. finally they’ll be interesting again! overall, the biggest change I want to see is the return of high budget, high quality videos and dedication to concepts. we’ve got ateez and we’ve got newjeans. we’ve got aespa and red velvet. now I need everyone else to hop back on this standard
I can’t lie txt had me worried for a bit but it’s nice to see them come back from that I think sometimes comebacks are shorter bc time was limited and when concerts are several months long I understand the „decline“ in quality, enhypen though…I don’t know what to think because they’re now more popular than ever so maybe what I think is irrelevant, still think the music has gotten stale
@@nctiddy ig it makes sense that they wouldn’t have time to make more mvs because of their tours. as someone who is broke/lives in a place where no one ever comes to, I’d choose the mvs over tours lol. but I understand. still won’t forgive them for doing nothing with opening sequence tho 😔 enhypen…an irrational part of me is almost bitter that they are getting so popular now (even though I love the boys!) but it’s like, stop encouraging mid music!! idk at this point smh
Same ateez are my ults and i hope when they get popular from Coachella, they still follow their own standards. And sm groups have been having me on a chokehold lately, at first I didn't like them but after seeing so many groups following the same concepts and trends and still not being successful, I realized how good sm groups discography is, starting from aespa and red velvet and maybe riize, will check out their other boy groups later
Honestly some small company group music are better than most of the popular group now a days they are talented in both singing & dancing but sadly they didn't get that recognition which they deserve more
Thank you for appreciating Exo songs, a lot of other channels don't do that despite Exo having unarguably one of the best if not theee best discography in kpop
The 127 praise !!💚 i am living for it And i agree music show performances are getting boring really fast since the only difference between them are the outfits and some camera cuts... I feel music shows have the focus more on the performance like dance choreography etc. because the idols don't have to worry about singing live and that is ok too ! But i personally prefer live performance over a perfect synced performance
Changes I want to see in Kpop 1. Live vocals in all performances from All groups(NMIXX needs to fresh up on their vocals. NCT 127 did amazing on their fact check era, I was shocked by their live voices) (Since I saw A2K and Nizi project I learned that vocals are jist as important as dances) 2. Bring back the bridges(My favorite bridges are NCT 127's Fact check, Psy's Gangnam style, Blackpink's How you like that, Kiss of Life's Bad news.) 3. Less groups following music trends 4. Groups going back to their original Concepts(Itzy's Born to be) 5. Creativity 6. Better styling 7. More groups with adult members 8. Weird concepts 9. Natural hair colors
I like the way you put tripleS and OnlyOneOf in there like Jaden Jeong's creative touch along with his creative friends really do things like some kind of magic that really goes well with other people's music taste.👌🏼 With OOO, at first I didn't knew Jaden, the creator of LOONAVERSE, was involved with them until the news of Jaden leaving the creative duties for the group for good came out. I really liked the group's early sound. Seems I followed or liked almost everything Jaden had worked with and most of it without knowing it's him involved behind the works.👏🏼 I also love how THE BOYZ were considered as "SM's Lost Sons" and still have their own flavor with their fair share of releases from dark, strong to sweet, and bright concepts.
I didn’t know jaden jeong was behind onlyoneof either at first but it made sense there’s a certain simplicity in both the music and aesthetic that are unique to jaden so that’s cool to see!
your choices for all the groups that know what they're doing....... FLAWLESS. as a massive shawol i wish 10x and code were more widely appreciated! they're incredible
"Orange" by Treasure is a bridge that comes to mind when asked one of my favorite bridges. I just love the way the Treasure members vocals flow and it leads to the end with them all singing together. Really just a beautiful and emotional song in general, definitely recommend 😭🌅
On my mama i thought i was crazy for getting annoyed at how much they lip sync nowadays. I thought they were trained for that but I guess not 💀 I also think that singing lives gets the artists hype themselves (those clips were a fire example) I so miss how creative and "wild" kpop used to be. The stage outfits literally looked like costumes and I LIVED for that shit, hopefully they go back to that soon.
I get that people want idols to have more freedom to speak their minds but another problem we could face is idols saying stuff that could be very questionable or just yikes. I just know that there are some idols that if they were given the ok to say whatever then they would definitely say some racist or homophobic or misogynistic things if they’re asked. And I think that’s not ok. So it would be better to keep them censored then actually allow them to spout that in the public
Yeaaa definitely a possibility and also we just don’t need to hear their opinions on these things tbh it’s nice when they show subtle support to lgbtq+ for example but politics and stuff pls do not speak, and I say that for myself as well it’s okay to not know everything that’s why listening is a wonderful thing
@@nctiddythe way i can’t even say “and thank god for (insert creative director)” because they might switch it up and come up with something horrible 😭😭
I stan a group who's now free and the members basically do and say everything they want and guess what? They got backlash and criticized most of the time 😭 even tho some are just hating on them and being trolls, some criticisms are valid as well. To put it into perspective, they were scandal free when they're still in their og company but it went south after they left and got more freedom in basically everything (creativity wise and what they say and do on sns in general) 😭
I stan skz for many reasons but one of the main reasons is the concept the concept of the megaverse is just intriguing and figuring out the lore is just fun
also you bringing Triple S outta the trenches gagged me cause they are game changers but people BEEN sleeping on them like..stand up?? Their shit is so fire.
Singing live is so important. You can have the most ass stage presence in the world but if ur singing live and ur voice sounds dif from ur members and ur eating those lines up yk everybody is gonna be looking at you. Otherwise performances are just boring
To say that Itzy has lost its popularity is false, on the contrary, they have even regained popularity with their recent album. The problem is that people forget several factors, namely why Itzy doesn't have a lot of views on TH-cam: the first is the absence of Lia on the project, many Internet users do not watch their return following that. The second is that they have 7 mvs and that people are too lazy to stream the 7 mvs, they prefer to concentrate on two or 3. I have the impression that Internet users only focus on the views and not on the music by herself. It is not because a video has a lot that it fills the stadium of a concert to deny it would be an illusion of reality. Then Itzy needed a return like this because if it had the way you wanted it you would have been disappointed because of course it would have a big hit on TH-cam but it would not have shown Itzy's abilities that it know how to compose and write songs and above all that each member of the group can be a soloist on their own, which is rare in a Kpop group. The majority of groups shine more as a group than as individuals. The only groups that shine as much individually as collectively are: Itzy, Bts, Exo, Mamamoo, G-idle, Blackpink the others are not as charismatic as what I just mentioned. So when Lia returns you will obviously have the mvs that you expect from Itzy which will announce that she is completely back even if she never leaves but that will remove the hatred for Itzy
Itzy for sure had a great comeback with born to be but i think its too late as other groups have already stole the limelight and wth there mv are becoming more and more like random sets. I loved vampire but i hoped the mv could have been more dark and vampire type
RV sung live during their tour this year and sounded amazing, I was superrrr disappointed when SM only let them lipsync during their comeback stages…like let them siiiinggg
21:10 "stream the boyz" I'm TRYINGGG!!!!! what song is that??? I can't find it pls someone tell me, I am THIS CLOSE 👌🏼 TO RIPPING MY HAIR OUT I CAN'T FIND ITTTTTTTTT😭😭😭
@@nctiddyI personally don't care about the debate, but if you're interested they sang live on music shows during the 2nd week of promotion for spicy. Show! Musiccore and inkigayo (the videos with less views), can't remember if there are others
the thing is all sm bridges to me are wayyy to structured similarly for me to feel that level of excitment anymore, like ik what im getting and it's gonna be the same thing over and over again. it's nice but it doesnt do it for me. i want a bridge but i don't want it ALWAYS to become an rnb with adlibs and then one huge high note at the end following with the final chorus
That’s interesting bc I’m the complete opposite to me it always sounds slightly different and exciting like nct 127 got the formula down but it never sounds the same to my ears

I feel like kpop stans undermine how important singing live is. not only is it much more impressive but it also adds so much more to the performance
It's all the flavour. Without it even the best performances start to taste bland after awhile
I really do, but if the choreo is deathly tiring, than I could let it go, sometimes.
Ngl after you showed us that nct clip of them singing live damn yeah I do now care about live singing lol
@@nctiddyyeah like idols like Sakura should not be getting away with that voice
Dancing is also talent and same with rapping, but you atleast have to know either singing, rapping or dancing.
pls we need to revive the bridge this year. songs without bridges are like a 3 course meal without the entree WE NEED TO BE FED
righttttt I’m begging I can’t do this anymore
NEWJEANS DO U SEE
NCT 127, Aespa, Got The Beat, Everglow, Ateez, EXO, Shinee and Red Velvet had good bridges.
Oh Yes 127 definitely ate gave me srush of happiness seeing them sing live. 2 baddies and Fact Check
@@nctiddy yeah i think so too
@@Obladioblada95 sameee :D
It’s sad this industry have come to the point where it doesn’t even matter if you can’t sing, you can get a pass if your pretty/handsome enough.. Like I want me some live raw vocals, imperfections and all.
it’s soo crucial to make the audience A believe what you’re singing about and B enjoy watching you perform on stage, it’s really not enough to just see a perfect choreo we need REAL voices peaking through, even if it sounds like yelling I’d rather hear you try
@@nctiddy right! it just makes it seem like there is no passion whatsoever. doesn’t matter how good the choreo is, i wanna hear it, even if it is yelling and screaming, it’s better than nothing at all. otherwise, it’s just repetitive and boring hearing the same studio ver vocals.
see i agree but whenever someone shows their imperfections too much now, it's the talk of the town
@@mediverge that is true too
yeah but tbh any mishap will make you get hated on, i saw what happened to illit on their first encore and it was actually pretty sad 😭
Remember the bang chan situation? Kpop fans want thier idols to speak thier minds but once they do its over. I think its better to just be quiet… in the end of the day being idol is a job and ur representing the company not yourself only.
yup, very true
I've always been a live singing truther because it makes the performance SOOO much better you can't even compare it's much more cooler to watch, I also dislike how short the songs are becoming 😭
!!! We gotta be more vocal on this
I feel like many people "don't care" about live vocals because they think the prerecordings ARE live. Stupid, ik, but many stubborn and persistent fandoms behave like that, because they don't wanna imagine their favs lip syncing, they think it's "cheating". Hope that changes too... When sm gives their idols 1 chance to sing, they eat it up every time :v
trueeee some of the comments underneath very obvious lip sync performances are funny to read I guess it’s hard to tell nowadays
Same
ngl i get every group of thoses except Ateez. i used to like them, and their story lore is still nice.
But I can understand it not being to everyone’s taste bc i was the biggest metal head and edm fan before kpop so it definitely suits my taste
i absolutely need a company to debut a gg with a magical girl concept. wjsn & loona on hiatus, lovelyz & gfriend disbanded, ily:1 & csr are trying but no one cares abt them 😰 i just need it!!! a group of 8-12 girls singing abt their lives as guardians of another galaxy, being fairies, or secret princess spies! just pure sugar-y fun with lots of synths & glitter!
ik we have loossemble & artms, but im talking abt how ot12 loona is currently on hiatus.
Oh I agree!!
the old gfriend sound needs a comeback
@@nctiddywe need the christian horse girls back.
World wide hunger will be solved when kpop companies stop making dance practices look like they're music videos because they're not supposed to be
i wholeheartedly agree w/ the first opinion. i think most fans who think idols should give more of their opinions are young & bit naive (and that’s not necessarily a bad thing) and just want validation from their faves.
it especially sucks when it comes to certain “political” opinions/issues. it’s one of the reasons i had to rmb idk these idols personally when it came to boycotting bc 9/10 idols are either using, endorsing, and/or sponsors for those products & they’ll get backlash for speaking out on either side due to one reason or the other.

I also think Billlie is doing a great job at being creative in the kpop industry nowadays. Their discography has been unique and golden from the beginning. And they have a set storyline in their music videos and song titles. Plus, they're great at singing live. Exemplar group 👍
I’ve always wanted to dive deeper into billlie’s discography, I really liked eunoia!
Nct's fact check live stage gave me chills cause its been long time I saw that kind of vocal heavy performance since Exo used to do live stages in award shows 😢
it felt so refreshing to see that!
It's all business at the end of the day, and people buy albums even without the live singing. love your vids btw
sm preventing their very talented idols from singing live genuinely makes me so upset
In 2022 Red Velvet sang In my dreams live too. Honestly I never understood why SM could not let their idols sing live, when SM artists are the best singers in the industry.
broo just think about those harmonies ReVe would give us LIVEEEEE like HEAVENNNN

Got groups like Kiss of Life singing live, all of them sound great too!
pinkpantheress is the only person i can think of that makes 2 seconds feel like an hour, love her
triples are literally the most innovative group out rn, they know what they want to do and they are executing it flawlessly, from concept to bssides its just s good. I may sound biased as a wav who ults them, but I just wish people would give them a chance
I finally did I rlly like their sound!
i said this to someone else, but itzy getting rid of their self-love concept is so interesting to me & kinda shows that companies don’t do a lot of thinking when it comes to creating groups & growing their artistry.
musically, despite almost being a 5 year old group, there’s aspects of itzy’s sound that i feel like they’re still exploring when at this point they should have a whole new sound & commit to it. if ur doing girl crush then do it. if ur doing quirky then do it.
conceptually & cinematography wise, they’re completely losing themselves. youtuber mera made a video abt this a year ago & i reccomend checking it out! long gone are the fun, bright colors and the individual personas. welcome to bat caves, hazy filters, & office core. imo, their change in concept & cinematography would not be as big of a deal if their team wasn’t being wishy washy and actually decided on where itzy is gonna go at this moment in their career.
imo, itzy should’ve stuck to the bubblegum pop sound & concept before switching it up in 2022 to a more girl crush concept like they’re doing now. they remind me a lot of spice girls & little mix so idk why their team isn’t following in those groups’ footsteps or hiring the creatives who worked with them.
srry for the long rant, it’s just been something ive thought abt for a long while.
by a “whole new sound” i don’t mean it literally. i mean that itzy at this point and time should not be sounding like the same group during their rookie years or doing a poor imitation of it. yes u can still explore aspects of that initial sound, but it should be more elevated & less juvenile.
very well said, I agree! And I loved mera‘s video on it highly recommend to anyone who hasn’t seen it yet
More songs that tug on the emotions pls. that make me want to learn lyric by lyric so i can belt the song at the top of my lungs
ughhh yessss!!!!!!
Heavy on live vocals! Let's hear you sing! You can sing! At least 1 live performance per week/appearance on each station.
Right!! Even if it’s just half the time like let’s hear you yell a little
as nctizien i’m so proud

I actually am getting sick of songs with no bridges, especially since most of the time, it’s made to get TikTok validation and become viral..

omg these nct127 stageees 😵😵 i don't stan them so i didn't watch it so thank you for showing us 🤌
Good thing I added them all in here because everyone needs to see what a great live stage looks like!! Kpop can be so fun😭
EXO and other SM Artists NEVER disappoint with bridges
yuppp
TEMPO BRIDGE IS SOOOOO CRAZY i will never get over it
Idk if many people feel this way but I've said it before and I'll say it again I really really dislike the prelease songs trend and I hope it ends in 2024, it feels like a group would post like fucking 4 prerelease songs that when the title track is uploaded it doesn't feel grand anymore cause we've already seen prereleases and we already know what to expect and it just feels so underwhelming like I miss having a grand comeback day with the album drop and all but the prereleases just don't make me excited for the comeback
i think the main problems with pre-releases are
1. the songs are mostly mid & don’t give me much of a reason to follow the release.
2. the mvs are boring & uninspired (cough cough itzy) like u actually spent money on this and for what??? and sometimes the concept is so different from the one that was advertised that i just get annoyed.
3. too damn long of a wait. i shouldn’t have to wait 2 months (xg) for ur album. literally just sucking all the excitement out of the release.
the only good pre-releases IMO are the pre-releases for newjeans’ debut & ive’s “ive mine”. xg was fun until august ended idk why they waited so long to release their album.
A song should be long enough for
1. An intro (that is not a chorus)
2. 2 verses (before and after a chorus)
3. 3 choruses (after each verse and brigde)
4. A bridge (not another chorus)
5. A highnote
How are you supposed to fit all that in LESS than 2 freaking minutes?...exactly you cant.
Goodbye
!!!!
Also we need more full albums and less singles
God baekhyun bodied the what if bridge so hard 😭 thank you for the rep, one of their best b sides!
Shout out to BTOB. They're the king of live vocal performance. BTOB is well known in SK but unfortunately under appreciated at international because of the mistreated from Cube ent. They're one of few group that still produce songs with full length, the bridge in their song is the best.
Yesss btob are great!

lmaooooo that is so true
@@nctiddy i forgot to add ive bc why did off the record have choreo??
Really heavy on the live vocals opinion. That's why I stan groups like Ateez, xikers, kiss of live, and dreamcatcher amongst a couple of others. It's quite disappointing how many fans don't care or really can't tell when a performance is live or not which some companies have become really good at making prerecorded tacks sound live so this isn't totally the fans fault. The majority of the performances from these groups they have their mics higher than the backtrack and it just makes their performances so entertaining. Lipsynced performances are so boring to me so I do hope more groups perform with live vocal constantly this year.
Ateez are unmatched like truly it’s never ever boring to watch them perform their music
Unfortunately the groups don't decide if they sing live or not.
One thing I don't like is the lack of albums. Groups have soooo many singles and eps but no albums. I miss seeing an album drop (instead of every song being dropped one by one) and spending the day soaking it up
Full albums in Kpop usually aren't that good anyways
Full albums from sm groups are usually insanely good so I can’t complain but yes I agree there are less and less albums nowadays
Shout out to including Exo ‘Hurt’ (their concert stage still remains jaw dropping)
EXODUS album truly one for the ages
I revisited exodus recently and it broke my brain how good and fresh it still sounds
@@nctiddyikr, I’ve heard people describe that album as ‘Timeless’ and I couldn’t agree more!
Exactly! All music shows and awards ceremonies blends in one to me because they all look the same, sounds the same and seems to do the same. Few groups stand out now.

even if it’s messy, voices break here and there or they’re a lil out of breath I think it adds so much to the song and energy, it’s a two way street you can lipsync and dance well but I want to hear your voice
Not me giggling and smiling because of how many times EXO is mentioned here
I love them🩷
drama and lmlt bridges made me cry
i compeltely agree with the first opinion but that's the reason why i love blackswan. blackswan are not afraid to be authentically themselves and (fatou specifically) speaking on her beliefs and what she stands for (regarding palestine). maybe it's because they are all foreigners or that they are still kinda nugu but i like how almost every blackswan live is chaotic and looks like they genuinely have fun (ik they kinda face some critisicism with those lives but the responses are mostly positive) and i love how they also clap back to their antis
I pray for EXO normal promotions in 2024. More than 1 week pls TT

I really agree with the short music and live vocals part. I dont even think we can make those, "wow vocal moments in kpop", videos anymore cause of this. The short songs are probably cause they want more streams. Its smart, especially if youre as good as new jeans and XG (yes i know theyre global but imma still count them), but people are getting tired of this and will only watch their vlogs now.

if it’s good I don’t mind but lately…..it’s just giving nothing😭
The moment EXO starts performing you will see right away it exudes GREAT TECHNIQUE just by watching how their mouth moves. Even when they sometimes lipsync a song you can still see they apply vocal technique when performing it. These days new groups just lipsyncs all the time and act cutie cute. They are too afraid to look ugly opening their mouths wide when singing or maybe they just dont know how to sing and relies too much on autotune and pitch correction devices.
they’re all scared to look ugly on stage and it makes me so sad like we have to loosen up again
obviously live vocals are a much more preferred choice. however, i don't think music shows were ever about live vocals w/o a loud backing track. they are for promotional purposes only really. hence why every idol looks so put together and the performance feels repetitive. that's bc they are just advertising their song and album in a way. yk??
Yeah that’s what it has been for but not singing your own song live for the audience that’s a recent 4th gen thing for sure

@@nctiddy ig it makes sense that they wouldn’t have time to make more mvs because of their tours. as someone who is broke/lives in a place where no one ever comes to, I’d choose the mvs over tours lol. but I understand. still won’t forgive them for doing nothing with opening sequence tho 😔
enhypen…an irrational part of me is almost bitter that they are getting so popular now (even though I love the boys!) but it’s like, stop encouraging mid music!! idk at this point smh
Honestly some small company group music are better than most of the popular group now a days they are talented in both singing & dancing but sadly they didn't get that recognition which they deserve more
some of those exo parts arent bridges they're just main vocals adlibbing over the last chorus but good music nonetheless.
I just had to include them
@@nctiddy On from Bts has a great bridge..Jk sings it and its flawless...
Thank you for appreciating Exo songs, a lot of other channels don't do that despite Exo having unarguably one of the best if not theee best discography in kpop
I think a lot of channels are newer stans so they just don’t know hehe but yess ofc they’re the standard in my eyes
right I absolutely love fact check era because they were so loud and raw and live !!! Insanely hype stage. 127 you will always be famous
Nct's vocals are so raw so powerful I almost cried omfg
thank god nmixx and lightsum sing live
shoutout to lightsum as well I didn’t know! we love to see it, also ive sing live a lot
@@nctiddy well yes!! and check out their new ep if you haven’t already!
The 127 praise !!💚 i am living for it
And i agree music show performances are getting boring really fast since the only difference between them are the outfits and some camera cuts...
I feel music shows have the focus more on the performance like dance choreography etc. because the idols don't have to worry about singing live and that is ok too !
But i personally prefer live performance over a perfect synced performance
I mean the focus can be put on both ateez are the prime example
Changes I want to see in Kpop
1. Live vocals in all performances from All groups(NMIXX needs to fresh up on their vocals. NCT 127 did amazing on their fact check era, I was shocked by their live voices) (Since I saw A2K and Nizi project I learned that vocals are jist as important as dances)
2. Bring back the bridges(My favorite bridges are NCT 127's Fact check, Psy's Gangnam style, Blackpink's How you like that, Kiss of Life's Bad news.)
3. Less groups following music trends
4. Groups going back to their original Concepts(Itzy's Born to be)
5. Creativity
6. Better styling
7. More groups with adult members
8. Weird concepts
9. Natural hair colors
tempo’s bridge makes me ASCEND
It’s so fkn good
I like the way you put tripleS and OnlyOneOf in there like Jaden Jeong's creative touch along with his creative friends really do things like some kind of magic that really goes well with other people's music taste.👌🏼
With OOO, at first I didn't knew Jaden, the creator of LOONAVERSE, was involved with them until the news of Jaden leaving the creative duties for the group for good came out.
I really liked the group's early sound.
Seems I followed or liked almost everything Jaden had worked with and most of it without knowing it's him involved behind the works.👏🏼
I also love how THE BOYZ were considered as "SM's Lost Sons" and still have their own flavor with their fair share of releases from dark, strong to sweet, and bright concepts.
Love their music!
Hurt for outro 🧎♀️❤
bangerrrr
"Orange" by Treasure is a bridge that comes to mind when asked one of my favorite bridges. I just love the way the Treasure members vocals flow and it leads to the end with them all singing together. Really just a beautiful and emotional song in general, definitely recommend 😭🌅
On my mama i thought i was crazy for getting annoyed at how much they lip sync nowadays. I thought they were trained for that but I guess not 💀 I also think that singing lives gets the artists hype themselves (those clips were a fire example)
I so miss how creative and "wild" kpop used to be.
Yeaaa definitely a possibility and also we just don’t need to hear their opinions on these things tbh it’s nice when they show subtle support to lgbtq+ for example but politics and stuff pls do not speak, and I say that for myself as well it’s okay to not know everything that’s why listening is a wonderful thing
thank you for mentioning OnlyOneOf!! their uniqueness has to be talked about more
Of courseee I’ll never stop talking about OOO
where are the creative directors?! where are the a&r teams?!
Honestly barely doing their jobs right
@@nctiddythe way i can’t even say “and thank god for (insert creative director)” because they might switch it up and come up with something horrible 😭😭
I only have some notables in mind like Jaden Jeong and Min Heejin...like at least their works must at least be references for standards.👌🏼
The TXT praise 😊 that's my ult right there
Love them Saur much
I stan a group who's now free and the members basically do and say everything they want and guess what? They got backlash and criticized most of the time 😭 even tho some are just hating on them and being trolls, some criticisms are valid as well. To put it into perspective, they were scandal free when they're still in their og company but it went south after they left and got more freedom in basically everything (creativity wise and what they say and do on sns in general) 😭
I was also one of those fans who didn't care if idols sang live until I started stanning Ateez and well, I changed my mind.
I have to agree, answer changed my opinion entirely
If the translations are correct I 100% agree with you take, nmixx are incredible
I will say triples is hit or miss at times but when it does hit its hits for lifeee they have so many hidden gems
Singing live is so important. You can have the most ass stage presence in the world but if ur singing live and ur voice sounds dif from ur members and ur eating those lines up yk everybody is gonna be looking at you. Otherwise performances are just boring
yuuuuppp
I literally screamed when 10X came on
TripleS’s songs remind me so much of early Loona😭🫶
That’s why I’m so obsessed with their music😭 it feels like their pre debut and debut era
It's because Jaden Jeong + MonoTree similarities.
When it comes to the lore part, LOONA = moon
tripleS = sun
I got goosebumps when I heard homegirls deja vu and colorful on here. My all time favs
Sooo good
To say that Itzy has lost its popularity is false, on the contrary, they have even regained popularity with their recent album. So when Lia returns you will obviously have the mvs that you expect from Itzy which will announce that she is completely back even if she never leaves but that will remove the hatred for Itzy
i love love love all of your videos. no matter how long they are i watch and love all of them. great stuff :D
That’s nice hehe thank you
Itzy for sure had a great comeback with born to be but i think its too late as other groups have already stole the limelight and wth there mv are becoming more and more like random sets. I loved vampire but i hoped the mv could have been more dark and vampire type

10:39 THIS BRIDGE ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
RV sung live during their tour this year and sounded amazing, I was superrrr disappointed when SM only let them lipsync during their comeback stages…like let them siiiinggg
21:10 "stream the boyz" I'm TRYINGGG!!!!! what song is that??? I can't find it pls someone tell me, I am THIS CLOSE 👌🏼 TO RIPPING MY HAIR OUT I CAN'T FIND ITTTTTTTTT😭😭😭
Oops🤭 nvm I found it😍😍😍 tysm for putting it in the description
Lmaoo exo hurt yess!
Heavy on the live singing opinion, like im not gonna call you the 4th gen vocalist group if you are not gonna sing live
But even though Aespa lipsync a lot they still outsing most 4th gen groups. Their Spicy live stages and Coachella shows how good they are live.
hmmm I wanna hear them try that on music shows and then we can have the who outsings who debate again
Idk, ISTJ, Chill Kill, Cream Soda and Better things bridges are all different.
