I am revisiting this fun trip. As it happens, Roger, the route's primary creator, handed over the whole CDR operation to us. We have since formed a not-for-profit society called EPIC GPS Adventures. Check it out. It is getting huge, and fast! epicgpsadventures.com/
I've been using the Platypus Gravity Works filter for back country moto camping. It's the bees knees and takes up little space in the kit. You'll never have to beg for fresh water again😀
Thanks for posting this! This route is a #1 priority for me for next summer for sure. Grew up in the Kamloops/Shuswap area and spent a lot of time on those backroads so this was like a trip down memory lane. Cheers!
Yay! I gotta link up the video. Thanks for the reminder. I am posting these tracks because they do not really follow Rogers route super well, and I am not giving away his many options, or his guide document which is quite helpful!
On the sidecar app it might be nice to be able to have the users select from a handful of diff data sets to display. I can see wanting to have diff data shown depending on the type of ride that I am doing. I know that adds a bunch of fun to the layout design, but...
Hey Scott, I'm watching your rides from waaaaay over in New Zealand. Love the bikes you & your mates ride, love the tracks & the scenery, love the good attitudes & the banter. Good stuff. Hope your app takes off, looks great 👍🛵
I remember coming down a very steep, loose rock decent, to a lake while on my old 800GS and the ABS decided that they were going to "help" me, and had me trying to decide if I was going to have to ditch it or take it for a swim. I was happy to find a last second turn-out before having to choose.
There was a road from Pritchard to Tod Mtn (Sun Peaks) that was sometimes plowed. I don't see it on Google Maps. I got my winter camp badge there. A great way to save some time if coming from Chase - otherwise Silver Star closer.
Very cool seeing you on the gs1250. My husband and I just bought a set of them and we ride pretty ruff terrain and are surprised how capable they are. We just got a couple new 890,s too for the more knarly stuff.
Awesome adventure man! I finally got out for a little adventure myself Friday. Been taking it easy for a few weeks waiting to get these darn stitches out of my wrist! Just haven't gotten around to loading it onto TMA yet. I like the dashboard! I agree it still needs some refinement (nothing specific coming to mind), but I think it has potential to be pretty cool!
Thanks! Next round of edits viewed today. Back for more. We hope to have it nailed for my part 2 ride this weekend! Looking forward to seeing your adventure!
Really enjoying your adventures on your GSA. I also purchased the OBDR from Roger Nelson and sampled some of the sections in May. Met up with a couple other riders that new and ride with you near King Edward Lake. Their hospitality was truly amazing as we rode together the rest of the day. All I can say is the riding around Vernon is incredible compared to Winnipeg. I hope to make it out late September with my dark horse 1250gs. Have you converted your front to 21" yet? I believe you also are using the dunlop trail max missions.
Hi Richard. Thanks for the note! 21" is a winter project. I hope you have a great trip out this way. Ping us if you want to see if we have a ride you can join! Scott@ThatMotoApp.com
Mate, some stunning scenery you got over your way, awesome vid. On the Moto App, does it have maps etc for New Zealand? Keen to support you guys and always keen for good navigation apps. I'm on an iPhone too. Cheers.
Hello and thank you for the note! Yes, we have global maps. Like all apps, we subscribe to a service. We use MapBox. We also have other users posting their rides from New Zealand, and we love that! A trip to your zone is very much on my bucket list! Hopefully you can share some of your adventures with us!
I'll be heading in for The Gathering on Wednesday night - will Motoburlesque be happening that Wednesday? I'd love to come hang out if you accept visitors.
Is there an actual Okanagan BDR? Just curious, as I've never heard talk of that. I'd love to do a BDR route in BC, provided it's been well defined and there's a GPX file available to import into OSMAND+
Could someone offer me an access code to the sidecar app? I ought to be in BC (from Qc) mid-September. Other than the Sidecar app, is there another app I should download from the App Store?
Funny thing, I've been trying to find out how to get tracks for this BDR and the info you give takes you straight to the BDR website. There's nothing on there whatsoever about this BDR or any Canada BDR. So, I contacted BDR (called them) and they tell me there is not any Canada BDR. So can you explain to me and others how to really get them? Please.
I can help. As it turns out the RideBDR people bullied Roger into shutting down his website and getting traffic forwarded to them. He made this route. Nice, right? Anyways, Roger gave the routes to us, we are making a not-for-profit society, and everything will become available really soon. You can find us at www.EpicGPSAdventures.com. As of right now, we ask that you join our newsletter so we can keep you posted. Cool?

Right on! Hey, I finished the route this weekend. Video is almost done. I hope you like it too!
I saw these tracks on TMA and thought to myself, "I hope this is a video"... Yay!

I hear ya on that one. We are trying to cram in a fair bit, and smaller phone screens are proving to be a challenge!
Love. Love. Love these! Really inspiring me to do an homage to these from here in the Mitten State!
Wow, thanks! I look forward to getting out and wrapping up this puppy this weekend!
That was amazing Scott,,beautiful ride ,thanks again for sharing.
Thanks Ian. You are always such a gentleman!
Man, thanks for the video. I just moved to Salmon Arm. I have to put my bike on these trails
You must come to the ADV Gathering Sept 14-16. At least one day. Meet some locals to ride with. There are a LOT of us. Cheers!
@@DirtChimps I didn't know about this. I'm definitely going. Cheers
@@DS5901 Woot! And, Moto Burlesque tonight and next Wednesday 6 PM Kal Tire Place parking lot. :)
Great video as always Scott, you definitely inspire me to check out more of the beautiful province we both live in!

Yeah, that was a new one for me! Like you, glad to have caught it before things got bad.
Thank you!

Sweet! It is nice having a garage full of bikes. :) I did a little D:4/6 climb on the 1250 yesterday. Exciting!
@DirtChimps very cool , it's quite surprising how well these big bikes do in the harder stuff. Do you guys have the new 890 in your stable yet?
@@foxtailadventures Not yet. I don't know if we would go that route for our next bikes.

will do, thankjs@@DirtChimps
Split screen mode with the speed and altitude on one side and map on the other would be perfect.

Roads look in fantastic condition. BC must have thrown a lot of money into grading and maintenance with the forest fires every year.

Just saw your reply to someone else down below. 👍 See ya Wednesday night!

Hello! Here's the plan. Go to ThatMotoApp.com and join. Access Code: Ride4Dylan. Then, download Sidecar. You should ge G2G then!

Hey Scott, would it be possible to see the temperature on your app too?
It is possible and others have done it. I suppose I have not really seen the point. What is your reason for wanting this?
What does BDR mean?
BDRs are Backcountry Discovery Routes, the USA equivalent. Look up Ride BDR. Cheers
Loving the videos! What tarp do you use?
That is a unique tarp that goes with a different sort of hammock. The manufacturer is called Amok. I really like it.
