Knowing what to build in Season 14 can be hard, therefore I made a pretty in-depth guide on both itemization and runes for Pyke!
I hope you watch it all the way till the end, as I give some important info at the end of the video.

Great vid! I personally enjoy building cyclosword first item in my non-ranked games. Combined with bloodsong and hob you can just oneshot squishies if you get fed. Plus if I really snowball (rarely) I take sundered sky too (cause crit on first hit). So you basically have an auto attack with a slow, + 100 dmg (bloodsong) + 100 (cyclosword) + crit (sundered sky).
Yea, I know that some people do that, and it can be really funny. However, keep it in the normal games, and build more survivability in your ranked games :)
You should do a mid lane pyke guide
I am a Support main tho. And Davemon exists? Doesn’t he make a ton of content for Pyke mid? My niche is Pyke support.
I could do it, but I’m mainly here for my fellow Support players who don’t have anyone else :D
I take umbrage at the insinuation of a “correct secondary” page on pyke. Each has something to offer, and should be considered on the basis of preference and/or playstyle. Wanna be speedy boi? Take celerity and waterwalking for faster roams and stronger early skirmishing. Want durability? Bone plating and revitalize. Like to team fight? Legend tenacity and triumph. Really understand what you’re doing? Take future’s market and cosmic insight. Hell I’ve even found use for glacial augment and hexflash (it’s not perfect as a keystone, but has some interesting applications if you’re good at e flash combos). It doesn’t feel like a one size fits all thing, and I often rotate between them based on the game.
Then again, I’m gold so maybe take my advice with a grain of salt.
There are more options than what I showcased in this video. I literally played Aftershock Pyke exclusively for most of my time playing Pyke xd.
This build and these runes are simply my suggestion to you guys. It’s what I’ve found most success with, but that is because it fits my playstyle.
I also feel like I explained pretty in depth why these runes are so perfect for Pyke, but maybe I should’ve done something differently :D
I use Ultimate Hunter since I am pretty bad still at hitting my ult at times. In lower ELO when roaming is a bit hard because ADC's can't really manage themselves or their waves I usually just make sure I win my early game and then snowball with my low CD R's.

You would be back in lane faster, losing less xp, if you took Relentless Hunter though. Just a thought!

i like celerity and scorch on secondary runes. celerity for MS and scorch deals a decent amount of dmg in laning phase(plus it has a 10 sec CD so its up as soon as your hook is up).
plus legend:tenacity can be very useful against REALLY HEAVY CC comps.
VS full ap sometimes i take nullifying orb and it saved me/allowed me to double ult reset a fair few times.
green tree as secondary is certainly useful, i just think most games other runes would serve me better.
it can be very playstyle dependant too IMO.
ive seen a lot of pyke players go mobis, while in my opinion even swifties would be more useful, especially if you have relentless hunter.
also treasure hunter is pretty meh at best, because IMO(again) you get more out of relentless/ultimate hunter.
ingenious hunter is only viable if you pretty much only buy items with CD(umbral, ghostblade, edge, maw, etc) otherwise its pretty much a waste.

I think you are onto something actually. I rarely ever alter my runes, because they always serve me well, but mby I should try Sorcery out some times. But then again, won't I lose too much survivability without the Resolve?
The Tenacity from Precision can be useful yes, but you're already building Mercs in those games, and will have Tenacity in Stat Runes. So I still believe Resolve secondary will yield the best results!
But as you say, Pyke runes and itemization are very playstyle dependant and varies from player to player :D
Mobis is definitely overused, as it should ALMOST never be bought :P
(While editing the video, I actually went Mobis ONE game, for the first time in a long time tho xdd)
I completely agree about the Treasure Hunter, I never go it myself. I explained it such as: if you KNOW you will get early kills Top/Mid, then you can go for it, but good Pyke players should never play for Top/Mid early.
I only swap between Relentless and Ultimate Hunter. Mostly using Relentless, as I highlighted in the video :P
Ingenious Hunter might be a little more viable than I made it out to be, but I feel like it gives far less value compared to Relentless and Ultimate Hunter. As I also explained, everything in this video is my preference and some may disagree, but these runes and items serve me well! :D

@@PykeonaSpikeHii I personally also use sorcery but with trancendence it helps me immensely when I kill an opponent with my ulti because I very often use my E as a gap closer if I play well I can hit the E stun if not, trancendence helps me to get out again. I usually take Nimbus cloak as well, because if I have to flash after a kill or something I find the MS super helpful
@Ian__11111 good reasoning behind your choices. You almost convince me to try it out. Tbh, I think it could be very reasonable in lower ranks!
Great guide! One question though, would you ever consider building an antiheal item like Chempunk Chainsword on Pyke support into teams with a lot of healing? Or haven't you mentioned it in the guide for a specific reason?
Oh and also thoughts on Serylda's Grudge against champs like Kalista and Vayne who are good at kiting?
In contrast of your teammates the antiheal will be proc’d far less by you. You basic attack the enemies far less that late in the game. It’s almost never worth it.
Honestly never tried. Don’t think it should be necessary, but the build is purely preference. So if you like Seryldas, you are free to go for it! In my opinion, other items give more value, but that’s my preference :D
I personally go triumph + legend: tenacity on the second page. Triumph especially has granted me so many extra ulti kills during teamfights purely due to the heal
But occasionally I go nimbus cloak + celerity if I feel cheeky and want to go for big e+flash+w stuns
Both sound more viable as Pyke Mid, but it's honestly preference. I love the survivability from Resolve :D

Speeds the healing up, doesn't heal more. Amazing for negating ignites and damage overtime in general!
Mobility boots are good with other ms lethality items, that u can perma roaming and control map. Very usefull, but in specific option.
If you are everywhere on the map, I will not write your name on the list for buying Mobis. There are different playstyles on Pyke, and I am more of a laning Pyke than a roaming Pyke (despite roaming from time to time), and Mobis are very ineffective once you've actually entered a fight, or simply get poked from far away. So you kind of trade away a lot of movement speed at the most crucial times, to get to the fight faster. Which I absolutely can respect, but I would rarely do it myself.

@@PykeonaSpike ofc i am sub :D. Usually i am playing with idiots, that die solo, so i help them dying, get kill and group. I can also send wards on a big area and group with my idiots. And i always do all things in no vision, so i cant be poked.

pyke is my most played champ by far and ive never tried it but id figure id ask for your thoughts but do you think that glacial would ever work on pyke into certain matchups
I think it could. It would just be a slightly different playstyle, I believe. But if you want to abandon HoB, then I would look for Aftershock, not Glacial.
You can try Aftershock into heavy engage supports (Nautilus, Leona, Rell, etc.). But HoB will still, in my opinion, be superior.
Doesn't ignite give true sight so you can't heal from your passive? Second Wind won't help during the ignite, right?
The ignite will give true vision in a bush, but not in your W. I’m not sure if Second Wind has any impact during an ignite, because I believe it starts AFTER the damage is over.
what about the speed one from blue rune? % speed and speed on river, not worth? LOVE YOUR GUIDE MY MAN TY
Tbh you can take whichever runes you prefer. I definitely prefer Resolve, because it gives me a ton of survivability. If you go for the Sorcery runes, then you got to be really proactive in mid and jungle! :D

I do go Edge of Night and Celestial Opposition (ofc Umbral first). I may have criticized the Ingenious a little too much. Any of the 4 are acceptable and purely preference. I don't like Ingenious, which is why the hatred of it shines through in this video xDDD
But it doesn't matter, since it's getting removed next split (the Ingenious Hunter)

You’re gonna need boots waayyy earlier than the rune allows you to get them. I often get (300g) boots at first or second recall. You’re Pyke. You need to be fast enough to catch the enemies in lane, to help your team elsewhere on the map and get to lane faster.
is death dance ever good on pyke cause ive seen it run a few times?
Death’s Dance is selfish. If you ever buy Death’s Dance, it’s going to be more for the passive than the armor. If you buy it for the armor, then Frozen Heart is much better, because it reduces the opponents’ attack speed, which helps your team!
You CAN buy Death’s Dance, but I would never buy it.
In the scenarios where I would need something similar to the DD passive, I would buy Frozen Heart for the Armor + reduced attack speed on enemies, Guardian Angel for the revive or Zhonyas for the active.
And you shouldn’t use two inventory spots on armor items either (example: Frozen Heart + Death’s Dance), because it’s not worth it. Armor and magic resist kinda scales with hp - which Pyke cannot get more of.
Also is it ever worth it to take dorans blade cause ive seen a few people do that and it does delay suppoprt item spike more early game@@PykeonaSpike
@@Tigerof2000 I believe they’ve patched it, but yea it was viable.
I don’t know what exactly had been done, but I do know that they changed support item, so that you get your stacks (to take minions with) earlier (kinda similar to the old timings, if not exactly the same, I haven’t played too much recently). So you would essentially be giving up level two prio every time, because the enemy support one shots 2 out of 3 melee minions of second wave when they are half hp.
So even if Dorans start was still viable, I wouldn’t do it. Because level two prio is one of Pyke’s strongest spots in the entire game!
toughts on vigilant wardstone?
Honestly never tried. It’s one of those items that I simply forgot exists xdd
I can see it being viable, as it gives you the possibility to have two control wards placed at the same time.
It also gives armor and magic resist, which you’ve probably realized that I love on Pyke!
Sadly, after a certain point you shouldn’t buy more armor or magic resist (it scales with hp, and you can’t get more health), so you’d have to choose it over Frozen Heart, for example.
But vision is crucial in League, so I might try it out in my games. The thing that I hate about it is that it’s gonna take up a space in my inventory that I could’ve used on something else.
Like the rest of the build, it’s gonna be preference though, so if you like to have it, then go for it! I am always for Pyke players actually opting for actually being a support for their team!!!
@@PykeonaSpike i usually go: celestial, umbral, edge of night, axiom, wardstone. The ward cap is nice and you're not relegated to the choice between another component or 2 controlwards in lategame plus you get access to elixir of iron sooner. With the nerf to frozen heart this patch i think you should give it a shot
forgot to mention its gold efficient at 117.68% just for the stats it gives
