Ben, I became aware of your channel a month ago. In that time I have recognized that you are knowledgeable and experienced and trustworthy. In my 40 years of pursuing consciousness advancement I have made limited progress. Your teachings have opened the possibility that I am closer to success than I realized. Thank you! Your comments on candle gazing brought to mind the countless times I gazed into a camp fire and felt the hypnotic pull. Your insights have renewed my practices and have made me a big fan of yours. Thank you for your lessons on the ego and connecting with the divine - door opening.

I started meditating over 10 years ago, and I totally agree with what you’re saying.
The more I sat in silence, focusing inwards, the more clarity I had in relation to reality, and I realised the illusion of the self, the ego character that the mind creates and believes as“real” doesn’t actually exist here and now, but only in thoughts.
I also gravitated to the teachings of Advaita Vedanta, Buddism and eastern philosophy, seeing what they point to is the experiences I had.
The more I meditated, the clearer it became. My now wife was concerned I was going to become a monk and go live in a cave 😂 Information about everything just seemed to flow when attention was placed on it, human psychology also became obvious.
    Thanks for the video.

A few years I did a meditation where I set my gaze forward and slightly upward while doing hamsa breathing. After a while, I closed my eyes and began to see streaks of white-silver pulsating light. When I focused upon them they began to pulsate erratically before eventually exploding then all I could see was white light. When it cleared, I experienced being pure disembodied consciousness. I was in an all white room and when I focused my attention below me I saw a woman sitting crossed legged on the floor looking up at me smiling. (I was floating near the ceiling) Her skin was literally the color white as was her hair. She had very bright crystal blue eyes and was wearing red lipstick. Startled me so badly my physical body jumped which ended the experience. This was back in 2020 and I haven’t been able to recreate it ever since.
I’m glad to have stumbled across your video. This was really helpful.

Thank you for sharing. I had no proper teacher to teach me meditation. All I did was watching TH-cam videos that anyone talked about it. But somehow I did 7 chakra meditation for more than 3 months in 2022. Then one night I had a dream saying the kundalini energy reached the crown 👑 chakra. I laughed myself when woke up. Thought must be my brain thinking too much. But truely I noticed that I see stuffs from air during meditation in a week time. It was amazing experience from just practicing one single technique. Of course I don’t watch any news, also eating healthy food. 😊❤

I’ve devoted some serious time to my meditation practice over the last year to figure out how to get beyond the veil. I went from 1.5hr- 2 hrs getting into samadhi to now under 10mins. I will echo these points, very good stuff!

    2. Laying down with some sensory deprivation, Using like weighted blanket and weighted eye mask

Hi Ben, my meditation has recently changed a lot. I started 3 months ago and one day, I began moving in these gentle movements. Totally involuntary. The movements never jerk me. They are so beautiful. My body feels like a ribbon being pulled through water. And my mind is almost entirely clear. Are these Kriyas? Higher connection to spirit? Opening chakras? Whatever it is, they start just a few seconds into meditation and they feel very good.

Is following the breath considered a type of transcendental meditation? Also, Ben, do you recommend always doing your meditation the same way? E.g., always syarting w a prayer or a song or whatever or can that change as long as the bulk of the time is the same technique?

    • @bensmithreal
      @bensmithreal  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hey! Transcendental meditation is an organisation (TM), but most authentic techniques have the potential for you to expand your consciousness. The breath is a great technique because it’s yours - it’s very specific to you and you only.
In terms of doing your meditations all the same way - no, I’d suggest enjoying some spontaneity with your pre & post meditation things. This keeps it fun and interesting. I do recommend sticking with one technique for a good levers of time though (absolute minimum of 4-6 months, ideally several years).

Well done. I have to ask...six years old? I thought I was jumping the gun a little trying to teach my kids at five! I must ask by what family dynamic was this possible for you?
Also, I would like to offer to the listeners who are presently learning single point focus; for Trataka (explained in detail in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika) I have found it easier to use an incense stick in a dark room for gazing. This way when the candle flame jumps, moves or changes (it will, always) it is not so jarring as you approach the hypnagogic state. Most incense sticks will burn for around 45 minutes - a good timer for the practice. As the ash falls from the stick, the cherry will glow a bit brighter for a few seconds but that is nothing compared to a flame suddenly changing intensity.
I personally do not use Trataka anymore but I have and do still teach it.
Thanks for having this channel. It gives good teachings without all the trappings and jargon of the monastic classes.
Some are into the monk style; for others its a big turnoff.
Are you of the Vajrayana by chance?

Ben, I've been meditating for a while now and I've started to hear the om sound and I get very distracted by it and also a little bit scared, i know i should go past it and that's what I'm working on on my meditations now but I would like to know if you have heard it in your meditations and how have you dealt with it? Thank you :)

I haven’t heard this myself, but everyone will have their own unique experiences 😊
Nothing bad will happen to you, keep on doing as your are and try your best to let the fear go 🙏

Im not certain it functions like that. Simillar to school being out for summer or maybeveven a long weekend. I found when i stumbled into gematria there was some kind of vision of how the #6 is a weird combination

The first thing I notice when I'm going deeper into a meditation are voices that aren't mine. Is this normal? Does anyone else have this experience?

It can happen to some people, don’t concern yourself too much with it😊

So basically when you have you have stopped getting gains from one style of meditation, it's time to change, try a different one.
