The psychology of the challenge of staying with a problem where you see no solution is often the foremost hurdle.

I have a 63 year old friend whose motto is "I'm not very smart." To compensate he never reads books, never looks stuff up on youtube (well, sometimes he does, like when his car broke, but its always emergency and he doesn't get far), and literally sits and waits for either a friend to fix all his problems and do everything for him, or god to appear and make miracles happen. I've known him for 12 years. He can't figure out why as a musician his career is one gig a year. Well, its with a friend, and he can't go beyond friends. He said he doesn't know how to get gigs, so he just relies on friends. Or, he waits for god to appear. Its mind-numbing being around him. I research and look up everything. Learning is life. Experimenting, discovering, etc is living.
Damn, I'm not too different. I enjoy learning, but I recently looked at the books I've finished out of my collection and it's pitifully small. And I rely on others to solve problems I don't know my way around too much. Sure, part of it is I now have to work for a living as opposed to those carefree days when I was in school, but that's still several hours a day I could be spending on building my knowledge in a meaningful way, not just tacking some random interesting facts onto it as I usually do.
I was about to ask how it's possible to be friends when you're such different types of people, but then I realized I have friends that are also like that. Humanity is so funny.
Bro why did I actually need this so much I didn't even search for you channel or title and I'm actually learning Python. Thanks for the value that will save me from alot a headaches.
On the other hand, the overwhelming majority of people who died in the 1st World War, were hardly in a position to save their lives by doing some thinking.
@tyrisnolam Not once they were there, but there was always the option to become a conscientious objector. I'm sure it would be a lot less practical for some than for others, and some would have had a lot more to lose in terms of ostracism and damage to their future prospects. Those considerations would be something that people would have had to think about too.
This will sound like I am being completely arrogant - but truthfully - I am not. Since I was a child, everyone thought I had a problem and wondered what was wrong with me because I always paused to think before responding or reacting to a situation. This video is just a personal confirmation for me. I have always been a thinker since I was a child. Now the same family members who criticized me or questioned my situation look upon me as being very "intelligent" . I tell them that it's not about being intelligent I've just always been very analytical and I've always stopped to think about things before acting. The so-called ten commandments in the end made me laugh. Because while they are very much accurate they also illustrated the situation I've lived with all my life in my 50 plus years. Most of my family unfortunately are fools living in their Paradise. It is what it is and I still love them.

You have to train your mind to activate more and more throughout your life journey by temporarily suspending not only actions but feelings as well and allowing the mind to work through difficult events via analysis and trial and error thought-experimenting. This allows the brain to use its neuroplastic processes to remap your brain's connections aka wiring so that you think more easily, quickly and broadly, especially if you want to adapt to the big prize which is not just thinking fundamentally but doing so at all levels of analysis so that you pick up hidden intuitive associations between seemingly unassociated phenomenon effortlessly. This is not as straightforward as you would suspect. You have to adapt to the stress and weirdness of being in situations that typically require a specific prosocial behavior or specific action taken.
One of the most important questions to ask yourself in pursuit of intelligence or intellect if you will might be "Why are we assuming the world is based on logic?" It's a way of categorizing the world and we seem to find systems that apply to this. However we're looking for logical patterns so by all means that's what we will find. But who told us the world follows logic? Are we missing out on a vast amount of "content" in this life by making this assumption?
@@judas611 The logical thinking definition is analyzing a situation or problem using reason and coming up with potential solutions. Logical thinkers gather all the information they can, assess the facts, and then methodically decide the best way to move forward.

The subject of thinking is complex. All philosophers treated it, from Socrate to Kant and Schopenhauer. You cannot do a 15 minutes recording on this to cover something interesting. This is why there are so many negative comments
Clear thinking, for me, is a North Star. I am, however, accused of not taking people’s “wishes” into account enough. Some I have to interact with wish things could be different regarding management of a family member’s illnesses, to the point where it makes the man who is sick, melancholically wishful at times, even though usually he has great emotional strength. Sir, you're a very interesting person and I really like your videos, but I'm always unsure about how to follow your advice, for example, how am I to reflect on ideas? Just ask "is this so?" "can I find a way in which this doesn't apply?" or is there a different way of doing so? I've had the same issue on your video teaching us how to learn mathematics, I was dying to see the questions with bits missing to see how that would apply, but in the end I was left with more questions than answers
I'm no expert, that's for certain. But I'll tell you the little that I know. Reflection of ideas is a very difficult skill. It encompasses a few different things. When presented with a new idea, you should come up with questions. So like you said, maybe when does this idea not apply anymore? By coming up with such questions, you are asking, what assumptions are necessary for the validity of this idea? By determining assumptions, which are sometimes not obvious, you can find out the applicability of this idea. So, can I use it for this situation? Another good reason to come up with questions about an idea is to illuminate inconsistencies, or outright contradictions in the logic. This process is the method of Socratic questioning. That's about all I know. Hopefully that helps.
Listen and give careful consideration to those with an opposing worldview. Then, as objectively as possible, test your views when juxtaposed with your opponents argument. Do we have the time to think through is another conversation and how many would like to do it since most would like to take the easy way out. Guess this is meant for those who wanna make sense of what life is all about and not for those who wanna just wanna get through their life without much hazzle.
Are you on Spotify

Hang on, isn't Denis Noble a physiologist??
Physiologist and biologist and by the way a critic of Darwinism - unlike Russell
My problem is not thinking. But procreating
Approach, get rejected, repeat.
@ sorry typo, procrastinating I mean
Procreating is fun.
Where are the rebuttals when the n.y. times puts out their "don't think critically" bs?
Wait wait J S Mill actually WAS Russell's godfather?!?
Figuratively.
@@deantaylor5177 no, turns out it is actually true!
@@bhbr-xb6po It's true that he was figurately his godfather? By the way how could the atheist Russell be a 'godfather.'?
10th commandment confusions.
How can i figure out whether its their fool's paradise OR ours !?😅
A video about philosophy of computer science would be great! maybe from Denis Noble's perspective
Thank you, I will finally learn to think
Denis Noble is not a physicist.
I would love to thank you, but before that, i would have to go through your entire video, but before that, we must thank the sponsors, but before that we must be sure we find out if we are because we think or we think because we are ... .but before that .....
Hello sir, can you kindly do a review of your books(non-programming)
The more time you waste, the poorer you get. How do frenemies indirectly waste your time?
I'm sure russel didn't write 'husband' in that context and since you did i have several notions to conjure. One of these is that you are pushing a narrative and must be treated with caution
please, you should change your channel name from Python programmer to something more cooler. Your videos are starting to get more awesome, now the identity should change as well!
I like your channel sir
Aku rasa itu lukisan seneca bukan socrates

yeah like conspiracy theorists or flat earth witnesses will tell you for sure that they DO think. and those who oppose them are blind and dont use their brain😅
Nothing new here. Just call it, how not to make friends.
And who are you to tell me this
Or alternatively, just delete all your social media accounts.

This is a great channel about LEARNING & not just for Python/ computer language programmers. Will re-naming it at half a million + subscribers make sense?
Most people would die sooner than think.
In fact, they do so.
What happened to your comedy video??
Truth brings the best version of you. Thats all we need to adhere to.
The most famous and most purchased book is largely ignored. Why? Read the actual Bible without other interference or only selected texts if you really consider yourself to be a critical thinker❤
Good video but you are rocking back and forth somewhat as you are speaking, it is distracting.
2 Timothy 3:7. I like some of what is said and I agree that most people don’t think. Your source of authority is extremely important. If it’s just men than is it possible to know that you have arrived at truth?
