The Ford Edge owner's manual contains the following information on how to program or pair a new remote fob smart key.
You must have two previously programmed smart keys inside the vehicle and the new unprogrammed smart key readily accessible.
Note: A maximum of four smart key remote fobs can be programmed to your Ford Edge. If you would like to replace a previously programmed smart key with a new smart key remote fob, or if you already have four smart keys programmed to your vehicle, you must contact a Locksmith to be erased and reprogrammed..
1. Remove the key blade from the smart key remote fob.
2. Open the Ford Edge center console lid. With the buttons facing upward and the unlock button facing the front of your vehicle, place the first smart key remote fob into the backup slot.
3. Press the push button ignition switch.
4. Wait five seconds and then press the push button ignition switch again.
5. Remove the smart key.
6. Within 10 seconds, place a second programmed smart key remote fob in the backup slot and press the push button ignition switch.
7. Wait five seconds and then press the push button ignition switch again.
8. Remove the smart key remote fob.
9. Wait five seconds, then place the unprogrammed smart key in the backup slot and press the ford edge push button ignition switch.
Programming is now complete. Check that the smart key remote control functions operate and your Ford Edge starts with the new smart key.

2017 Ford Edge ( SE, SEL and Titanium )

2019 Ford Edge ( SE, SEL and Titanium )

Thank you for the video, I was to get a third party / Amazon knock-off fob to work with my fiancé’s 2020 Edge. It did take a few tries, but your video sincerely helped!
This procedure works with my 2024 Ford Escape PHEV (key program location is under mat on center console). I saw a comment below of someone below having issues with their 2022 Escape. I can't say what was going wrong with them. But thanks PYR for this video.
Your instructions were very clear and effective. Everything seemed to work great. All functions seemed to work with the newly programmed fob, with the exception of remote start. Ultimately I determined a different button sequence for remote start was needed for my third party fob. I just thought I would share with others in case they experience the same issue.
Button Sequence for remote start:
OEM/Factory Fob: Lock-->Start-->Start
Third Party Fob: Unlock-->Lock-->Start-->Start

Worked like a charm on a 2022 Escape PHEV. The backup 'pad' is under the rubber mat where you can wireless charge and below the two usb ports and 12v plug-in.

Ha, worked great. The mistake that most people fail at is in the final push button step. There is a pause after you press the button where nothing happens and you think you have to press it again to turn it on. Only press it once on the final step and wait.
Thanks for that hint. I had tried at least 6 times until I read this. Then success! Pressing the button again will stop the programming and give you a failure error.

My 2017 Escape Titanium doesn't have that slot in the center console the place the smartkey into. Is there anywhere else I can put the key when programming?
One of my key fobs (we will name it key 2) only works when I put it down in the slot to program the vehicle, but it does not work otherwise to lock/unlock and the car says key fob not detected. We are trying to replace that key fob with a new one (key 3) since we tried replacing the battery on key 2 and it still does not work. I am trying to reprogram the new 3rd key now, but it does not seem to be working. When I place key 2 that is damaged in the slot, the car does start. Any tips on how I can get the 3rd new key programmed at home? Thank you!!

These are fixed frequency not rolling - Have you tried changing the fob battery?

No - these vehicles do not charge the fobs. The emergency key can be used to open the edge's drivers door. There is a video of how to do it here th-cam.com/video/PyeRPs4HZVk/w-d-xo.html
So I've tried this with a 3rd fob and doesn't work. I had the car locked and have two original fobs. After the 2nd fob it gave me the factory unlock code display. Then when I try to program the 3rd key it keeps giving me the "unsuccessful program" display. All batteries are good. What am I doing wrong?
edit: I got it to work. You forgot one thing to add. Once you push the ignition to program the new key there is a delay when the car is doing the programming. It takes about 2-3 seconds to program before it gives you a confirmation hazard light blink and cycles the door locks. I didn't know that and kept pushing the ignition again during this delay and kept getting "failed programming" message.
Will this procedure work if you have one oem remote and a third party remote ST brand as your two operating remotes?
as long as both remotes start and run the vehicle, it should work.
Would this process be the same with a 2020 Ford Fusion Titanium? Only have one original keyfob and got a spare remote from Amazon that I need to program

This will probably not help in your situation. Have you tired replacing the key battery?
I have a 2017 escape that only came with one key fob. How can I program a new fob? I do have forscan and an OBD2 to usb adapter.
If you only have 1 fob there is no onboard programming available and will require a programmer but I don't know if the forscan is capable of programming a 2017 escape or not

The key should not need to be reprogrammed after just changing the battery

My fob looks exactly like my original one from Ford and it works to start the engine but the lock and unlock buttons do not work
Yeah, I'm running into the same issue with being able to start our 2022 explorer but only if its in the slot and no lock/unlock functionality from the new fob.
This procedure didn't work with an OEM 5-button fob in my 2017 Edge SEL. I had two working fobs, went through the process and received the message "no key detected". Even put in a new battery and ran it again. Contacted the fob seller who said it must be done by a dealer or locksmith. Called a locksmith who said that they couldn't help as they would use the same process. Suggestions?
The first step would be to try a different remote. The seller is wrong - they may not realize you already have two working fobs and are adding third yourself. You can find this programming procedure in your Edge's owners manual in the "Security" section.

Unfortunately there is no manual way to program a fob to a 2022 Bronco - you will need a locksmith or dealership
add the following to the video instructions after the all the dings and you press the off button pull the remote and hit the unlock button that will flash the signals on the dash immediately put in the next key fob and start over doing the same thing, then add your new one and do the same thing in the end put your foot on the brake and start the truck, that should do it
I tried 4 times as you suggested, but I when put new fob in slot, hit start, I get “key program failure” msg. Did I miss a step?

Why couldn’t you take the one key you have out and just put it back in then put your un programmed key in to program it?
If that doesn’t work does anyone have the instructions on hour to use forscsn to program the new key?
That was my question as well. Why can't you just put one key on the back up slot twice? Does it know there are two different keys?

2017 Ford Flex. Didn’t work. I have two functions keys, just trying to add my third. Also the Ford Flex requires two push button pushes in order to get the ignition on with those 4 chimes. If I only push the start button once, then it only chimes once, and it turns on accessory power only. Unfortunate
The procedure shown in the video is for a Ford Edge. There is no manual way to program additional fobs for a Ford Flex - if the flex has push button start.
@@PYR-Auto Yes, the Flex has push button start. The dealership said that I might have been able to program the fob on my own, but it would only have been able to unlock/lock the car, not start it, due to the codes. The dealership programmed my second key for $70, and then the third key fob for no cost. Cutting the hide a key in the fob was only $10 per key at the dealership. I purchased the fobs on amazon for about $18 each. Thanks for the quick reply, btw.

Got a second key now, was able to program it myself using a universal EZ programmer. But that doesn't wipe absentee fobs so there is a 3rd fob out there still paired to my car.
