45 Min COMPLETE Chest & Triceps Workout / Dumbbells | EPIC II - Day 13

  • Complete chest and tricep session to completely challenge your arms, shoulders, chest and core strength! This upper body workout will test you whether you are a beginner or a regular bench presser!
    The timer will be on for 40 seconds of work, 20 seconds rest throughout!
    For this intense session, you’ll need a pair of dumbbells and a mat! The dumbbells I am using are 15kg each and 9kg each, however of course 1 pair of dumbbells is great!
    At the beginning of the workout, the 3 exercises are repeated 3 times as a circuit before we move to one set per exercise of isolation primarily on the triceps!
    The finisher should be extremely challenging and the incline push ups should be so difficult to do by this point!! It brought me to my knees!!😆

    That workout was INSANE! And I loved it!🥰😰 And I did it!!💪🏻 I collapsed in heap on the floor at the end. You got a lot of smiles out of me on this one and laughs at myself dying. My arms and chest were completely dead!! It was encouraging to look up and see you resting in the middle of a set with me. You were dying with me!!😉😊 Loved repeating the sets 3 times. I decided to up my weight a little today so my chest muscles were quivering and dancing quite a lot by the end haha! All the pushups were crazy good...im getting better at them!👍🏻also really liked the 3 way tricep press ups..that was different. And I always love flyes.

      Me too, I went up to 10kg today for my chest presses - my chest was shaking so much by the last set, I thought I might drop the dumbbells on my head!

    okay... two things I have learned,

      I THOUGHT my triceps were strong since I generally have no trouble with tricep pushups after doing yoga (chaturangas) for years...well CG's workouts proved otherwise, my arms gave out on some of the pushups and I couldn't lift myself up out of them 😂

    I did a lot of belly flops during those push-ups at the end!! 😆
    Wow, Caroline, those bodyweight moves were no joke! I couldn’t do the one-hand cobra push-ups so I did regular cobra push-ups followed by the diamond cobra push-ups. I was borderline hysterical towards the end but thank you for the “PUSH”!! 💥
    ✅1/19 - Used 15lbs/10lbs.

      Hi Maryam! This workout was very challenging! I wasn't able to do the slow push up - i couldn't push up slowly😅 When i started to do Caroline's workouts i did push ups on my knees. Never give up and don't forget: Have fun and be proud of yourself because you did this workout!😊

    Day 13 ✅. I had to focus on quality to get through this, as you said no repping it out. Focused, slow, controlled moves, squeezing my entire body to do push-ups (on my knees). I used every piece of furniture in the room, wall, floor, desk, bench to get through it 😂. Thanks so much. Have a great day everyone.

    This was by far the toughest chest & triceps workout I ever did. Most OMG screaming too, I guess. 😂
    My triceps were so dead in the end I couldn't even do a single cobra push-up anymore. 💪
    Lucky I could squeeze in the last push-ups on the knees, thanks to your smile. 😍 You're such an amazing trainer, Caroline! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! 💕

    You know it's a tough chest workout when you find relief in deadstop pushups! And who else laughed at themselves while doing the one-arm cobra?! My arms were malfunctioning at that point!

    Before you start this Chest and Tricep DB Workout I'd say listen carefully to Caroline's intro.... Quality over Quantity. That will be some of the best advice ever. So anyone who reads my comments will know I love Chest workouts and I loved this one, however, this is one of the most grueling sessions I have had in years and it left my Chest and Triceps at total burnout. I am pushing myself in EPIC II to increase my weights so today I opted for 20kg & 10 kg DBs. Remembering Quality over Quantity I pushed out 10 good Chest presses followed by 10 Flyes and 20 Standard Push Ups, repeated the same all through the chest section although the push ups do become harder as you go along. Alternating Press was 5 each side with the 20 kg DBs. Then on to Triceps they are already burning when you start but some really nice target moves, the Tate, The Diamonds and the the 3 Way Position Tricep press are all fab. The bodyweight section is so tough especially that One Handed Cobra. The finisher I decided was going to finish me so I did 10 Decline, 10 Standard and 10 Elevated Push Ups. Today I feel I past another milestone with EPIC, while I try to give it my all everyday, today I feel I pushed further and certainly achieved more. If you are reading this I would say remember its not about my weights, I have chosen what works for me, just focus in on you. Once you have finished I am sure this will all make sense. Caroline I did try to smile all the way through.... not sure I achieved that but I did try.

      Hi Anthony...well done!! This was a tough one! I used 8 kg throughout which was hard enough for me...but it was the push ups at the end which really finished me off. As Yiu say the one arm cobra, but also the slow push ups followed by pulses...then the finisher! By the end my arms had pretty much ceased to work at all! All good fun! See you tomorrow! Matthew

      I think this was really tough for a lot of folk - my arms/chest are not strong yet so this killed me. I think the key like you say is moderate to what we can do; whilst being 'honest' and still pushing ourselves. One other big piece of advice I got today from Caroline was to do push ups from a chair for now, so if like me they are a step to far this is a good moderation and better then being on the knees. Onwards and upwards - one day press ups will be my warm up!

    Just when I thought I needed heavier dumbbells...Nope, not necessary! On my toes pushups added all the progressions I needed today. Loved the challenges. I got through all the body weight on my toes except the pulses before the finisher got modified to knees. So close! My pecs and triceps were on fire! Thanks Caroline!!! Loving all of your workouts. Your generosity is so appreciated.

    Always a great morning workout session with this channel! Definitely pushed myself to the point of whining while getting those last bit of reps in ahahah. Im proud of myself today because every time I would get tired and drop to my knees, I would catch myself about to say "I cant do it" and I would immediately shout "YES YOU CAN!" Im so happy that more and more I am placing my focus on the mental/emotional aspect of exercise and just letting the physical changes come as they may...which they are!!! I have lost 1 inch around my waist since the start of EPIC II! I can tell that this round of EPIC is going to be all about proving myself wrong (in a good way), pushing myself, and doing the things I thought I could not do!
    Excited for tomorrow's workout ~

    It was Mother’s Day here in New Zealand so this was my Mother’s Day gift to myself. Thanks so much Caroline, another extremely tough work out. I found these workouts in January and when I started I was using 4kg weights for the flys, today I was doing flys with 9kgs so extremely happy with my progress 💪🏼🎉👍🏼

      Matthew Almond !!!! Morning Matthew 😁 what a workout. I started at 10kgs, by the 3rd round of reps 3rd set in just the press-ups felt heavy so I dropped to 8kgs & got through this. Great to be slowly, safely picking up a little more weight for a little longer. You’ll Enjoy this one - let me know how you get on 😁

    I love the ending with triceps. It remembers me the EMOM training format with different push-up variations with aim to do 100 push-ups. Yeah, it's very hard at the beginning, but in future you will increase your stamina and number of push-up reps easily. Definitely it will be my one of the favourite routine workouts. Congratulate all who went through thid workout. You are win yourself.

    OMG on the presses lying on the floor I alternated between 20 lb and 14 lbs and did very well. I did anywhere between five and six reps on the push-ups to the point of exhaustion and with good form and would try to start and do a couple more. I did fall apart on the uneven push-ups as well as the one arm cobra push-ups and was so fatigued by the end I finished as best I could. I will practice a few of those push-ups when my arms are not as fatigued and see how I do. I did the glute and hamstring exercise yesterday very well and worked really hard at that. I was thinking that today I would be very sore from that workout yesterday and I am not sore at all. Is that a good sign or a bad sign? Thank you so much Caroline for making me challenge myself. I could have just skipped over today's workout but I knew I would not do that because I want to improve. Any comments and tips are welcome 😶.

      Hi Elaine, great job! Just want to say I like that you're planning to practice some of the pushups outside of the workout(s) because that really is the way to improve. When we're in the workout trying to keep up with the video, it's not easy to really focus on form, or as you said, working on pushups when your arms are already exhausted. In yoga, it can take many months, or a year or *more* to do the "low pushup" which is called a Chaturanga Dandasana, very similar to some of what we do here, and killer to do properly! So stay with it, and with practice, you will see progress. I love to practice on my own, it's very rewarding! Best wishes!

I went through epic one and was feeling kind of upset with myself that I should by now be able to do several of those exercises. I am very open to criticism in order to help myself and to learn from those who are able to do things that I find difficult and have more experience than I do.

My arms had almost stopped working by the finisher...but a sense of achievement in getting to the finish...even if I rather limped over the finishing line today! Enjoy the rest of your day! Matthew

    Oh my. Can't feel my arms anymore. By 80% wanted to cry. Pulled all my strength to do all the push-ups today. Still amazed and happy with how I can do different push-ups now. Definitely getting stronger 😊. Thanks CG!

      You are not alone; I felt broken today but a little pep talk later and I am back on track!! I nearly quit at 90% today - i could hardly lift my head off the mat never mind my body 😂

    Yet another awesome workout! Thank you so so much! I had shoulder reconstruction surgery because of a bike accident so I have to modify some of the moves and use baby weights on one arm, but it is still an excellent workout! I get up at 5 a.m. only for Caroline Girvan! 😊❤️

      Hi I have a weak shoulder too; how to you manage with press ups? I am actually finding that I need to use weights to improve it as it has got so weak and its the lack of strengh that ironically gives me niggles; but I cannot do more than 10 press ups!

    Oh my gosh Caroline...you brought an AK47 to the fight today!! I had to drop the 10kg on the 2nd alternative chest press. By the time you did the incline press. I modified and did more tricep dips from the chair!! Looking forward to tomorrow!! It is becoming addictive!!

    HARD EPIC WOW workout 🤩 I finished ...started to feel it at 92% pulses etc but held in and the finish WOW 🏋️‍♂️EPIC finish and what ever I was pissed off with has been forgotten.. this is destress therapy as well.....😀

    I have been training with this channel for the last four months and have NEVER gotten an injury! every other fitness program in my life has ended because of over training, but Caroline is truly a master of knowing when to push hard and when to give your body a break.
