Thanks! chub distribution is patchy in this river, so a lucky find ! Grayling session foiled twice this week by work! Ideal conditions now for trotting with clearing water and lower levels, plus frost! Next week, back to big waters! 😢
wow man! a celebrity sub? my only other one is piker biker ! glad you liked it fella, I'm also a keen follower of yours. I haven't left comments as I figure you have enough to respond to🤣 I've just got to get down to that Ribble soon!!!!👍👍
that place looks lovely mate, i think id just spend half the day walkin b4 i even wet a line, things are tough at the min, gotta tip the hat to you mate bravin the elements and turning fish 👍
Yes, I'm lucky to be so close to it. I often cycle there if there's no ice. Suppose I could walk there in half an hour. The nearest bit of the river is only 5 mins walk away but only holds trout, so it's not a winter option. Good luck with the piking was 👍👍👍
Good stuff getting out having a good time and getting some nice fish. It reminds me of the River Went not far from Doncaster, I used to fish that in it’s diminutive upper reaches and expected similar mixed species, likewise trotting. Lower river was good for winter piking. All the best, I’m currently building a work shed instead of fishing 😂
Thanks Matt! I bet its dark at 2pm up there now!😂 Nothing wrong with sheds, I'd build a shed if I couldn't go fishing 😂 It's the same river as many of my trout videos, no doubt you guessed that! Hope you're keeping a video diary of this construction project ! Hoping for settled cold weather for grayling now🤞 👍
@@soultrader57fishingandmusi25 ha, not far off, dark by 5. Could you imagine shed building content 😆 measure twice cut thrice! Not sure even I would subject folk to that. It seems to be going well enough for a sparky doing joinery. Long time required, my other wee shed is full to brimming so this one should make a big difference to my work and also importantly get all my fishing gear out of the hallway 😆 all the best mate 👍
Watched your episodes for a while now..Im Lancs born and bred but moved up to Cumbria 17 years ago.. Cracking fish you got there and lovely Autumn morning. Where abouts is this. It's ok I'm up in Cumbria so wone be gate crashing..just reminds me of old haunts I used to go around when growing up thats all!
Hi there! Thanks for the comment! I'm sworn to secrecy from a small group of mates who share the "secret" of this wee jewel of a river! All I can say is that it's in mid Lancashire and loosely part of the Ribble system. Largely overlooked by clubs, as they want bigger rivers for their members. One of a huge number of similar rivers up and down the country. Its just a question of getting out there and finding these treasures 😊 Not the greatest river for catching fish but it doesn't matter 👍👍
Up to 25 years ago this was quite badly polluted, so there's not much fishing history prior to the noughties. Over 20 years trout spread from the moorland headwaters right down to the tide, and there's a modest run of sea trout, even the odd salmon been spotted. I've a video of the sea trout running the weir that's featured. Coarse fish were more abundant 10 years ago, as the river quality improved the trout took over!
@@soultrader57fishingandmusi25 Thanks, looks a nice not over fished area :) I don't do much fishing these days due to health reasons. I fished the Calder lots growing up.. Caught allsorts in there 40 plus years ago..from Sea Trout, to Pike and even Carp! Keep up the good work..My only gripe is your uploads don't look 4k on my 27 in 4k monitor I use and they are always quite grainy, washed out and juddery. (I don't use YT on my phone like most all on PC) Other than that love your content, thanks
I load them in 4k. But utube can look different according to transmission times, also it's a lot to do with light quality etc best fishing is usually 1st and last thing when light isn't brilliant! As you say most watch on a phone or laptop screen
Cheers Ian! I keep thinking I ought to do a barbel session but I never seem to get there 😂 itching to get a roach session in on thr ribble but this place is just too damned handy! 👍
Another beautiful video. Is that an old Strikerite centre pin? Great atmosphere. I'm going to be out after grayling on my local small stream as soon as water falls off a bit more. All the colours and mist just as in your vid, hopefully.
Thanks! Yes, it's a strikeright, not the best, but ok for my purposes. In a perfect world, I'd have been going out for grayling, but the relevant rivers were just running way too heavy, you can catch them in slacks and back eddy's but it's not proper trotting! 👍👍👍👍
Wow, cheers, Mark! Don't think anyone would be getting 40lb out of this little cut!!! I knew it would be worth it for the walk and incidental video clips alone! More than 1 bite was unexpected, to say the least 😂 When will we be seeing an angler 000 winter based fishing vid??
Ha ha! I like that! Lancs king of old school!😂 Sunday morning would have been better but I had someone working in my house! Thanks for the comment, Joel. Hopefully more settled weather on the way???👍
Nice chub ! Great video,, this cold spell worth a grayling session.

Well done on getting a bit of fishing, my rivers have been in spate since end of Sept and no sign of a change anytime soon.
Thanks, I've done quite a lot on local stillwaters through October, but I was busting to get a river session in. More water again now! 😂

Looked a good session, trotting with a pin is always a pleasant style of fishing.
Yes, I find it very strange using a fixed spool reel these days! Great When you meet with a spirited chub 😊
Lovely show Dave! Gets me in the mood for some winter silver fishing mate. I have pike and chub on my mind!
