  • Stage 2 of our Scottish holiday at the end of May. Not quite as I planned it, but greatly enjoyable! Fishing on the open sea and a lonely, wild hill Loch!
    Enjoy!.

Delighted this meets with your taste, Mr wildman! If I could find a river in a cave for you I'd post that too mate ! 😂
Back home again and loving the local river again after sulking for a day or two! 😂👍👍

Very enjoyable - fishing & sight seeing bits equally! Glad you got amongst the fish on the Loch Buidhe & hope you had a nice trip. We’ve not been up to Scourie/Durness for a while now but I recall as a kid watching salmon leaping in the River Laxford. The whole area is a fishers dream some amazing beaches too. I did my dissertation at uni yrs ago scrambling round on the scree slopes of Foinavon and Arkle, if you ever get chance the walk up Strath Dionard is amazing, what a river that looks as well as the famous Loch Dionard at the top.
    All the best 👍

You should have fished loch shin while up there the fishing at bonar bridge can be great for the sea trout normal fished around mid July

    • @soultrader57fishingandmusi25
      @soultrader57fishingandmusi25  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes, i considered shin, but its enormous, and i wouldn't know where to start! for a few hours of a session i felt more confident tackling a smaller hill loch, also much nearer to "home" 👍

Another great video David. The river that comes out of that loch has a run of salmon from loch Fleet. It has the oldest fish ladder in Scotland so I was told. Thanks for uploading, it brought back some nice memories.

Thanks ever so, Mike! I had to stop to look at that river (can't remember the name of it!) Such a jaw droppingly beautiful drive up the single track road up to the loch as you leave the main coast road! Apparently, you can get day rods on both the fleet rivers from Dornoch Angling Club, who act as ag3nta for the owners. Would be very interesting later in the season.
Are you the same Mike who posted some flies across to Matt from Highland fishing diary? If so, nice gesture! 😊

@soultrader57fishingandmusi25 yes that's me David. I go to Skye quite a lot as I have a sister that lives there. I do a lot of fly fishing in the sea as we don't have any rivers in Shetland.Really enjoy your videos too. Tight lines.

Toby was just piling up weed behind me! I prefer estuaries because you've a current to pull against and make the lure or fly work nicely, and without that swell trying to knock you over! Hopefully, Isle of skye next June and possibly west Scotland sea lochs late Sept this year. How's it going over the water?

    • @whitetroutchannel

@@soultrader57fishingandmusi25 nothing worse than the water filled with mermaids hair mate drifting weed is a major problem for me 2, and 1 pick of it on the lure and they just veer off in disgust, id wager the trip there could throw you a silvery one mate, its so so mate ive landed a few decent fish but theres not many around, the weather heres been woeful which hasnt helped but hopefully it we get a settled ridge of weather it might lift a bit but junes funny here its the quiet month before the fishing starts

Something i must try one day, I know people in my club occasionally fish for bass here in Devon.
Re the wind noise Dave, I've found a foam windslayer for the gopro to be a godsend. Turn off the auto wind and use stereo only 👍

Hi Chris, it didn't seem too bad on the go pro, more the phone!
Not that often it's a problem in the places I normally fish. But advice taken!
I'm down in Cornwall for a few days with my daughter and grandkids at the end of July so I'm determined to sneak out for a bass thrash one early morning, I'll have to consult face book for some possible spots! Preferably estuaries with easy wading rather than clambering over rocks😂
Interesting to see how you go on in Devon! Always thought the Taw estuary looks good

I will have to make some enquiries and see where people fish. I know people like Henry Gilby and Chris Ogbourne catch plenty in Devon and Cornwall. As with all fishing location is everything but probably even more so in the sea. My Dad fished for them years ago with peeler crab and would talk about the 3rd breaker being the hot spot. It would be a bit special to be wading in the surf with a nice bass attached to a 10 foot 6 weight👍
