Not only did Calvin complete the challenge, he made a really fun-looking casual deck too. The playstyle feels like something a character on the show would use. Very easy to imagine the one-off villain laughing maniacally as they activate torrential tribute for their "ultimate play."
I like the use of the Melphy’s to get the Sphinx’s out. I could see that shit happening in the anime. Like ‘look at the cute bunny. Oh, and also I have a fucking horrific demon next to it’.

I dont think I have ever seen someone have the Trap card "Destiny Board" and spell "F I N A L" to win the game, that would be cool to see him try to build a deck around that.
i used to play Final in my Deck a lonnngggggg time ago and i won more than a couple of times. times were easier back then though. But harder to get cards lol.

i felt physical pain in my chest when i found out what monsters he had to use, but that ended up being one of the coolest challenges so far, really excited to see the next one!
I was hoping he'd use a Melffy strategy, as Melffy Catty searches any beasts from your deck opt, nd all 3 monsters he needs happen to be beasts. I just gotta take the time to say a really good job at this content. Usually, with YuGiOh duel videos, I just see people throwing cards all over the place and sometimes not knowing what the card effects even are. You guys actually take the time to explain each card whenever it is being used, making it less confusing for me.
These guys have played for a very long time and there's just a lot of cards at this point. Everyone double checks cards it's just how it is. You gotta accept the game is kinda complicated
I love this challenge series! Some ideas for future episodes: Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth, Gate Guardian, Yubel the Ultimate Nightmare, Venominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes. Speaking of Venominaga, another challenge series you can do is to win using an alternate win condition - winning by battle or deckout would fail the challenge. And if you guys are feeling even crazier, defeat your opponent while utilizing a card(s) whose effect only benefits the opponent, such as An Unfortunate Report.

It still might not be an easy task to accomplish given that in the latest videos of this challenge, Calvin has had to summon the monster and win with it. He's very good at searching and sometimes cheating out the monster, but Alec is very good at avoiding playing to the challenge card's win condition.

I'd honestly like to see him use a deck around yubel, with cards that can negate the destruction of yubel, seeing as he'll need it. Also, thanks. I'm of the impression Yubel is Bi-gendered, or gender fluid.

I've loved yu-gi-oh since the original anime came out, but I never got into collecting the cards(none of my friends liked it) and had to deal with crappy yu-gi-oh video games until duel links, to get my fix. It would be awesome to see you guys play one house tournament with everyone using their favorite competitive deck. I've never watched any tournaments or know what's meta, and yes I could just find a tournament to watch on youtube, but card tournaments tend to be pretty boring even if you like the game. I'd much rather watch you guys go all out against each other. SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT!!!
It'd be cool if you started leaving the deck lists in the description for challenges like these, just a thought. Love the content, very fun way to work on your deckbuilding skills.

@@pinoarias8601 Playground meta Sphynx was pretty good. 3500 beats over anything important, the attack increase effect outs tri Axe of Despair Summoned Skull, Dark Hole and MST is in every deck, sometimes multiple times, and 3 copies of each Sphynx was pretty easy to get, since most people got multiple packs from family. The only problem was that it still couldn't get over Dark Patrician, King of Playground Games.

You and the guy in the video are mistaken. The movie promo cards did not include the Sphinx cards, the Sphinx cards were in the movie tie in packs that were sold around the same time. I know because back then I got all the promos and bought a lot of those packs to get them.

Calvin is believing in the heart of the cards for these videos to succeed. Next challenge for Calvin: he has to win by the effect of The Creator of Light, no turn limit (that would be just too cruel).
Theinen is a great fodder card for decks centered around Beast-eyes Pendulum Dragon, btw. It's one of the highest-powered Beast-type monsters, thus using it to summon it guarantees a lot of bang for your buck when you hit with Beast-eyes' monster effect. 3500 damage every time you destroy a monster is nothing to sneeze at. And it's effect damage, which people are usually not as well-equipped to deal with. Battle damage is by far more common than effect damage as a strategy, I think mill strategies are even more common than burn.
Good Lord, those are some form fitting card sleeves. Like you took the cards shopping at a Baby Gap for playing card sleeves. (Talking about the red ones @ 7:34).
I want to see him attempt to summon Sophia, Goddess of Rebirth. That card has absurd conditions, it only has 3600 ATK, and its only effect is a single time board wipe. It has no protection, except that its summon can't be negated.
Duuuude! I used to run with the Sphinxes back in the day. I was freakin terrible, but still. I loved Andro and Telia. Seeing them brought to life here warms my heart! Who knew the Milffys would pilot the Sphinxes to victory? Nice job!

You and the guy in the video are mistaken. The movie promo cards did not include the Sphinx cards, the Sphinx cards were in the movie tie in packs that were sold around the same time. I know because back then I got all the promos and bought a lot of those packs to get them.
@@NitroNEXT While they did have the promo packs, they also had the Sphinx cards in the theater. I know cuz I got both Pyramid of Light and one of the sphinx cards from the theater. .

Theinen is a great fodder card for decks centered around Beast-eyes Pendulum Dragon, btw. It's one of the highest-powered Beast-type monsters, thus using it to summon it guarantees a lot of bang for your buck when you hit with Beast-eyes' monster effect. 3500 damage every time you destroy a monster is nothing to sneeze at. And it's effect damage, which people are usually not as well-equipped to deal with. Battle damage is by far more common than effect damage as a strategy, I think mill strategies are even more common than burn.

I want to see him attempt to summon Sophia, Goddess of Rebirth. That card has absurd conditions, it only has 3600 ATK, and its only effect is a single time board wipe. It has no protection, except that its summon can't be negated.
Duuuude! I used to run with the Sphinxes back in the day. I was freakin terrible, but still. I loved Andro and Telia. Seeing them brought to life here warms my heart! Who knew the Milffys would pilot the Sphinxes to victory? Nice job!
idk what it is about this series! maybe the nostalgia but the fact that he makes old cards work and the deck building is really clever! Actually really entertaining!
I respect that alec kept attacking and playing normally. TECHNICALLY he could've just played a single monster and passed for 5 turns and then the engine likely wouldn't have gotten there. I guess IM the scumbag for thinking of that tbh lmao. Fun episode as always though!
