I recently had to create a custom path to animate a small object on a conveyer belt, the problem is the custom paths circles are huge and their size can’t be adjusted. Spent a day trying to place them on the path before giving up and just doing a cheap visual hack. Wonder if you could do a follow up to your previous path tutorial with how u could make multiple objects animate on a custom path ... amazing videos by the way. I learn so much every time with all these tricks like here with the swap object, had never though of that and so much more practical.
Something I'd like to add is that if you set the axis origin point so that the part of the spotlight that should "stick" to surfaces is considered the bottom side on Sketchup the object will stick to faces on Twinmotion perfectly as opposed to having to rotate every time. Basically, you should flip the Z axis 180 degrees or just flip the model 180 degrees within Sketchup first.
Do you lose the reference object when the lightis put in the user library? Perhaps using the orthogonal views might make it easier to place the spotlight?
Hello Justin. First off, thanks so much for your videos. THey are most helpful. The replace object workflow works great, however, every time I update my sketchup model, and then update within Twinmotion I have to replace all of the light again because Sketchup is sending them through again. Is there a way to prevent this?
4 years late, but great video. The object is snapping to the ceiling (which faces down), hence the flipping 180 degrees every time. In SketchUp, build the light lens facing up, it will flip down when attached to the ceiling. Also, if it's drawn with the origin at the top of the can center instead of the lens, it will cleanly line up with ceiling. Genius move with swapping light for geometry.
Hi Justin! Genius about having an object in the centre to replace with a spot light in TM, because positioning especially lights is such a time consuming and mind numbing task. I also wish TM would have tool/command like ‘align’ objects! Thank you for sharing! Cheers Grethe
I’ve noticed much of the library custom content needs to be scaled up significantly to get it to match the model. Eg paving materials. However when I check the dimensions the model is the correct scale. Is there something I’m missing?
@@theultimatecabinet Strange they should scale select object use the TAB key to change gizmo operation (or button left of material picker) once on scale either enter number or just slide gizmo. Lol - I learned that this morning right after I published this video - that said - replacing SketchUp geometry as shown will probably always be more accurate, so I highly recommend it :)
great tutorial but it can help me with something, the ceiling is always very clear and it bothers me, is there any way to change this in some configuration?
Awesome! Thank you for all your amazing videos! Do you know if there's a way to back up the user library? I have created a lot of assets in it and wondering if I will be able to transfer them to other computers and have a backup copy?
I'm sure there is, but I'm not 100% sure where those files are stored. I was looking for them in the folder, but so far haven't been able to locate them
If your talking about Twinmotion? Go to Twinmotion Edit menu > Preferences > Settings > Custom paths "Ctrl+P" then set your custom library path to whatever you want. Windows takes care of the backup for me. Hope this helps. I think this was the default "C:\Users\user name\Documents\Twinmotion2019\UserLibrary" In an office environment place library on the network & change all users to the same custom path. Your network should of course be backed up. Join the Twinmotion community here twinmotionhelp.epicgames.com/s/
Hi everyone. First thanks for your helpful videos. I have a problem at interrior(fully enclosed) render twinmotion. I am using same material on wall, floor and ceiling but it dont be same color. For example i using white color, it being grey on the wall, like blue on floor and being bright white on the ceilling. Can you help me for this problem:)
No idea on this one - are you sure you have the same material in all those areas? Are you sure it doesn't just look white or gray due to the lighting in those particular locations?
@@TheRenderingEssentials Thank you for answer. Yes, i dont change any light settings, using same material but it don't be same on the wall, ceilling and floor in a fully enclosed interrior.
I have this same problem, but the ceiling is always extremely white even though it is the same gray material as the wall, did you manage to resolve this?
I didnt know about Twinmotion but its really awesomeeeeeeeeeee, more awesome than using the default renders from Revit that always makes my rendering blurry.
Are you using TM2020? Unfortunately, they really changed how lights work between 2019 and 2020. If it is during the daytime, lights do not function well as it is programmed for the sun to create the majority of the lighting, even in a room with no windows. You can type in really high values for your lights, much higher than the slider will give you. Or you can make it night time. I've messed around a lot with TM2020 but I keep going back to TM2019 due to the lighting and I have imports that fail in 2020 but are successfully imported in 2019.
@@chazp3496 TM2020, yes. So there's actually no option except make it night time? Thanks for the response :) I was considering buying the 2020 license - maybe I should hold off on a 2021 update instead haha

I use revit, can I create a linear geometry and then replace object with a neon light?
Hi Justin, setting up material glow to 100 procent, or using a neon material is better solution? Or have these methods the same result?
