Would definitely like to see more like this. Something especially around “the pictures don’t do this justice.” Website photos and what this looks like on wrist is like buying a Cologne after smelling it on a tester strip as opposed to a full wearing.
I got the Seiko 5 GMT (blueberry) just before last Christmas and the offer of a generous discount made it a no brainer. In daily wear, it's so comfortable and has received compliments, what has come as a surprise is that for such a bargain of a watch, it feels so classy to wear. I'd highly recommend one of these watches.
I have one and while I like it, I haven’t quite bonded with it yet and might sell it if I must to level up to another watch. With that said, it is a fantastic watch objectively and the finishing is truly great. Mine also runs at -2 seconds a day which is exceptional for a watch at this price.
Same i got the orange dial one and i get compliments on it pretty much everytime i wear it. I have a couple other watches but always find myself wearing this one since ive gotten it
I love the fact you mentioned the Mido. I got this watch for almost a year now and man does it hold up, especially in its grey variant. The finish is great, it feels heavy and well built, and you can really tell it’s worth just by the reactions I get off it, most people think it cost at least 5K. I can’t be more satisfied with it.
Thanks to your videos, have rediscovered watches (at 67 years old...). Since I'm retired, the sub $1000 range is my intended realm. I really want that gorgeous Tissot PRX 80. I have an 8.5 inch wrist, so I need to go 40mm and up. Lots of beauties in this video.
Thanks to you Teddy I purchased my first Dive watch, an Oris Aquis. Thank you for making such wonderful content. Also would absolutely love to see more content on best finished watches at various price tiers.
Teddy, as always "upping up your game". This video is as comprehensive and on the spot as it gets. Congratulations and cheers to all your discerning followers!
I just bought one today as my first watch. I personally went for the automatic. I think it’s a beautiful watch. It’s not too heavy and for me, the lug to lug size is perfect. bracelet is lovely too and the clasp looks so seamless.
@natehiggers4439I am a man with 6.5” wrist bought the 35mm gold prx instead of the 40mm one because of the dial, 40mm looks good but it has a vertically brushed down yellowish tone dial. 35mm one has a sunburst gold finish so it looks a hell lot better in my opinion, quartz don’t bother me much cause I can just get a battery change anytime it stops
The next edition of this sort of list should consider including the Casio Oceanus T200. Unique "tinted" sapphire, gorgeous wrist roll, floating indices, and high-level finishing on the case. PLUS solar movement, bluetooth, correcting seconds hand, and a bunch of other features. All for less than $400.
I have one and the finishing is better than pretty much everything on this list, but he doesn't sell it on his website so he didn't include it. This video is nothing but an ad.
Casio is just amazing at everything. People think of Casio as gshocks and $20 "fun" watches. In a way, they have no business even putting something like the Oceanus series out. It's almost like an outlet for them to say "watch this". I don't own one, but every Oceanus watch I have ever seen, you could just stare at for days. I do however own a duro (mdv-106). When I got it 8 years ago, it was about $40 (I think they are around $47 now). The finishing and just presence of this $40 watch is really something special and makes you wonder how. I have other Casios and gshocks. The duro gets a ton of compliments and loves just about every strap you put it on. Not to mention, I have put this watch through just about everything for the time I've owned it, changed the battery once, and it's just such an amazing time keeping tool.
Another cracking video, I would absolutely love to see a similar video for watches under £2000 / $2500 - I'm starting to find myself interested in watches around this price point, I recently picked up a Formex Essence 39 and I'm blown away with the quality, would love to learn about some other brands that make an equally good product for a similar price.
You picked some great watches for this topic. I would also add Christopher Ward, especially with their latest release of the CW Trident 300 Pro. Case finish, bracelet and clasp are top notch.
I have a C60 and the case and dial are really well finished and love wearing it. The number of different finishes on the bezel and dial are amazing and well done.
I also owned the blue 5sports and its unbelievable how good the dial is. Its simply perfekt! The glas looks so good and this blue!!! I swear its not easy to find a blue like this!👍🏻
Happy to see the Tissot Gentleman on this list. Absolutely agree, the finishing on this watch is very good. The bracelet is pretty nice as well in my opinion but you're probably right about there being better ones out there
@@xhatjain I'd absolutely love a green dial Gentleman, if they ever released it without the sector lines. I don't understand why that's the only option considering they do blue with and without, but it's an aesthetic no-go for me.
I used to agree with you. The Gentleman was on the top of my list for a long time. But the bezel is unpolished, which means it will show every scratch in detail, such as on the PRC200 I currently wear. Also generally let down by the lume on Tissots - what’s your take on this?
It's a great watch, versatile and very accurate for the price point. But for having one, that huge bezel without hard-coating is a scratch magnet, especially if it's your everyday watch. The lume is meh, but the dial and accuracy are very, very good. The side case looked brushed which has a different tone, pretty nice. Also, for one comment above, you can get black and silver with or without lines too. I got the silver one.
I own Hamilton’s,Mido and then I purchased my first Zelos ! It is a Titanium and the fit being a 40mm on a smaller wrist truly made me understand bigger watches aren’t for me. Zelos truly shocked me on the quality, fit and design. I will be purchasing a another!
As always… so intellectually informative, and visually stunning video… Teddy your the one who got me into watch collecting… You made me appreciate and evaluate every part of a watch before purchasing…
Great video Teddy! I was also hoping to see Brew metric in this list as I quite like the finish of the bracelet and unique details on the dial. Hope to see a second part of this video soon!
I know many reviewers aren't fans but Chronos and San Martin usually have excellent finishing as does Zelos (mentioned) and Helm and Dan Henry. There are more micro-brands as well. Again I know many prefer the mainstream brands but micro-brands (Baltic you mentioned also fantastic you've also mentioned Brew in the past) often offer fantastic value for money and finishing.
I do not comment on many videos, but I feel the need to comment! Your videos are fantastic! I like the fact you include cost effective watches, lets be honest, not everyone can afford a Rolex etc…the fact your are inclusive of the more realistic buyer/lover is awesome. Keep up the great work.
Full disclosure: I am an admitted Seiko fanboy, and this list includes some really nice offerings from Seiko. I also liked the Orient and Milo, and couldn’t help but admire the 1970s throwback style Hamilton digital. I also owned a Bulova dive watch back in the late 1970s, and to this date it remains one of my all-time favorite watches. I don’t really think there is a right or wrong watch or list, as watch brands, styles and features are personal preferences. I enjoy these little video lists with Teddy, especially when I don’t have to listen to Kevin (Mr. not so wonderful) O’Leary flap his egotistical soup coolers constantly. Keep up the good work Teddy.
Hi Teddy. Really enjoy the channel and the content. Love to see more along these lines. I'd recommend Christopher Ward in this category for their light catcher cases. Really well finished and eye catching IMO.
Tweddy generally discounts them due to their "overused" trident hands. He's covered a few before. But I agree for under £1k I'm yet to see better case finishing.
You nailed the Hamilton PSR Teddy! I’ve owned this one for a while now and absolutely love it. Incredibly underrated and the bracelet is really really nice.
Just got my autodromo group B a few days ago, having it on the wrist and then seeing it here on the list makes me happy. Great video and stunning watch
Seikos are phenomenal for the price. I dropped into the rabbit hole of mechanical watches with SEIKO. I have 5 series Pepsi and Presage, both are great and look stunning on the wrist. Maurice Lacroix Aikon has an awesome bracelet and and the dial is out of this world, probably one of the best 100 dials in the watch industry.
Since watching the Channel I have purchased 2 Tissots and 1 Hamilton and they are great. I was wondering if you can do a channel just strictly how you shoot your content and if you already have one please let me know. Thank you.
I got the Orient Kamasu a year or so ago and it's the only watch I use besides my Apple Watch. It really is a good watch for the price, it delivers a quality feeling as well as enough of a interesting look.
I would like to see starting from 100$ then 500$ 1000$ 2000$ and up Even 200$ 400$ 600$ some type of format of different ranges on each episode Love the content ❤
Casio AWM-500 series. Yes, for a bit more money ($500 rrp/ $250 on offer), Casio can deliver INSANE levels of finishing with 'Liquid Metal' polishing, circular brushing, applied indices ... plus it's indestructible and atomic time accurate.
Finally someone giving the Gentleman some love, altho wish you could’ve talked about laco with their Augsburg and Aachen models, their amazing finish and the phenomenal straps for 350$
If you look at the PRX Quartz, I wouldn't say the dials are plain at all... The sunburst in the original dial colors are pretty spectacular and I honestly prefer it over the waffle-pattern of the auto. This is the only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on a PRX yet: an automatic movement with a dial from a quartz version would be my ideal PRX!
An auto that can be regulated easily. Youk know what just the old 2824 Cosc with 40h reserve will do. With a sapphire back, that caliber is good looking enough. And keep the size from the quartz. Add better anti reflections coating, on the exterior only and we have a deal. Say, south of 1500?
Love the video love the effort teddyy and lovee the pieces you chose, although a bit upset you didnt mention the orient bambino 38, best finish for a dress watch tbh
Zelos is amazing with unique dials, great finishing and quality far above their pricing. I love my Aurora mop mosaic dial. It can be a great single watch collection. I will be buying more Zelos as they are released
Great video! I want to buy my first nice watch. And I always liked the way the Movados look elegant but seeing some of the watch videos here on youtube they're not very highly recommended. Any advice on what I should pick for my first watch that has a similar elegant look to Movado?
The dial on my Seagull 1963 is finished to a very high standard and all details hold up very well, even under a loupe. A genuine bargain for a column wheel mechanical chronograph and a beautiful watch.
Great selection but I am sick and tired of the PRX hype. Would have loved some more micro brand options for instance MAEN Brooklyn 36, studio Underdog and others
I own Hamilton PSR with gold PVD coating. Can’t agree more with your observation. Phenomenal finishing for the price. The bracelet and caseback deserve special mention.
I’ve always had G shocks and Nixons which I still love.. but I just got the Powermatic 80 40mm in the mint color and I’m in love. My first good watch and I’m addicted
Teddy, I love your channel and your content. I have started getting into the world of watches (I live in Geneva lol) and your videos have been a massive help and guide to navigate it. I bought my first Tissot and started my collection, looking at the SEIKO GMT next. Thanks for the great content!
Really like some of Farer’s sub 1k offerings for their finishings. The Mansfield is just one that comes to mind. Really great micro that seems to be dedicated on consistently releasing quality and affordable swiss made (British designed) pieces.
Teddy: excellent videos, as always. Two questions. First, any updates to the Q&A Event that you mentioned at the end of 2022? Second, any chance you can post in your comments to the video an identification to the watch you are sporting? I think it would prompt all sorts of conversation if you did.
Very nice video! But my choice for the watch with best finishing under $1K or even $500 is Casio Oceanus T200. Yes it is JDM but it is not so difficult to get one, many of the micro brands in the video are harder to find.
I am a huge Seiko fan. They have great finishing. Historically they have had some quality control issues. I'd like to think they've been cleaning that up a bit. Can never go wrong with a Tissot PRX. $475CAD for a quarts or $2250CAD for the chronograph automatic.
Hell yeah Mido Ocean Star! Super comfortable with the rounded off bracelet edges but the link pivots themselves are tight with very little play. The only weak point is the bezel IMO - hard to grip when wet which is odd for a dive watch.
Bought a blue 40mm automatic PRX. it's a great bargain. I'd prefer the Christopher Ward twelve in 40mm, but at double the price i decided to buy the PRX and am happy with my choice. The PRX bracelet is amazing for a watch under $1k. The dials are solid and the overall watch size on my 6.5" wrist feels classy and appropriately sized...but i would probably favor a larger case size if my wrist was 7" or larger. Overall, the PRX is a very great watch for under $1k. A good daily wearable watch. But it won't blow anyone away or fool anyone into thinking it is a $5k watch...but rather plays out as a super solid, well built and classy modern watch with a 1970s nostalgic style. If you have $2,000+ to spend on a watch, you can find better watches than the PRX. If you have a budget under $1k, its unlikely you find a better overall watch than the PRX.
I’m picking up a panda dial seagull 1963 soon and I’m so glad you also mentioned the Zelos Mako 3! Another watch I want to grab if I can find the color way I want for a reasonable price. Titanium, beautiful textured dial, great dice watch specs for under 1k…such a good deal
Don't do it, man. Stop buying these watches. It's better to save that money. Or just save up a couple of years & buy a watch from a better brand. Trust me you won't be happy.
I agree with your hot take. I have two PSRs (the regular and the Matrix), plus a bunch of other LED watches from Yema, Bulova, etc. People who call the Hamilton overpriced compared to its competition have not seen these watches in person. The Hamilton is far, far ahead on every level, and also provides a time read-out in daylight without pushing the button. The timekeeping accuracy is also far ahead. Tremendous watch with tremendous history.
Would definitely like to see more like this. Something especially around “the pictures don’t do this justice.” Website photos and what this looks like on wrist is like buying a Cologne after smelling it on a tester strip as opposed to a full wearing.
Mad as well that Seiko are known for their finishing, but their online renderings often look like absolute pixelated trash
You get better pictures of watches on Craigslist.

Just got the same watch from Teddy, it really looks awesome for the money.

Perfect list Teddy . Nowadays is very important make this kind of lists . Thank you .
loved the content and products you presented in this video. would definitely love to see a follow-up of the same style for watches under ~$2,500
That is what I'm looking for all $2500ish lists!
So happy to see how fast your channel has been growing, Teddy! Well earned.
Thanks for making a great video that gives a middle class gentleman hope. Smile. These appear to be solid choices for smaller budgets 💯🎯
Teddy, I can never unsee the watch collector's anthem it's epic, you should share it with your subscribers.
Anthem??
@Rocky Teddy made a music video a couple years back and recently removed it. It's epically relatable. Tell him to bring it back.
I've been thinking about this too, i remember part of the lyrics were about how robust rolex movements are
@Juan Farrell the video lyrics are hysterical .
Got my first watch thanks to your advice! Got a Seiko SNK361 and recieved it last week, I love it it's so beautiful
literally the same here... snk361 as first mechanical watch and really reeeeeally loving it
Thanks to you Teddy I purchased my first Dive watch, an Oris Aquis. Thank you for making such wonderful content. Also would absolutely love to see more content on best finished watches at various price tiers.
Favs from this list:
1. Tissot PRX
2. Frederique Constant Classic Index
3. Seiko SPB
Yes, I’m looking to add another dress watch to my collection 😁
Teddy, as always "upping up your game".

Congratulations and cheers to all your discerning followers!
Sooo tempted by the PRX.
The sizing is not the best
@natehiggers4439dial is quite meh, hope they release the 35mm with a waffle dial or at least the same as the 40mm quartz
I just bought one today as my first watch. I personally went for the automatic. I think it’s a beautiful watch. It’s not too heavy and for me, the lug to lug size is perfect. bracelet is lovely too and the clasp looks so seamless.
Saw the prx today
I must say it's a beautiful watch but the sizing sucks for my wrist
@natehiggers4439I am a man with 6.5” wrist bought the 35mm gold prx instead of the 40mm one because of the dial, 40mm looks good but it has a vertically brushed down yellowish tone dial.
35mm one has a sunburst gold finish so it looks a hell lot better in my opinion, quartz don’t bother me much cause I can just get a battery change anytime it stops
Loving my Lunar Pilot and PRX Powermatic thanks to your recommendations! It’s definitely been a gateway

Really like some of Farer’s sub 1k offerings for their finishings. The Mansfield is just one that comes to mind. Really great micro that seems to be dedicated on consistently releasing quality and affordable swiss made (British designed) pieces.
Getting my PRX Powermatic 80 soon. Cant wait!
Teddy: excellent videos, as always. Two questions. First, any updates to the Q&A Event that you mentioned at the end of 2022? Second, any chance you can post in your comments to the video an identification to the watch you are sporting? I think it would prompt all sorts of conversation if you did.
I still don't quite understand why Certina is extremely rarely mentioned anywhere. Great video as always tho :)
Great video ! Can we see a $2000 category ? To include the sinn 105UTC with the new Sw330-2 top grade movement ?! Thanks for all the content !
Zelos! I regret selling my meteorite dial one. It was an incredible watch.
Just got the Seiko SSK003. Absolutely love it.
Being from Chicago, I definitely need to look at Astor & Banks. Nice to know high quality watches are being produced in Chicago.
I have a lot of these and I agree. Also glad for the love on the Frederique Constant I love mine
Bro i choked when he said "What the hell is Teddy on right now? Did he smoke before this video?" lmaooooo
I just purchased the seiko ssk001 and it is phenomenal for the price, looks great
hey, Teddy, thank you for pointing out Baltic wow that's something ...
Hell yeah Mido Ocean Star! Super comfortable with the rounded off bracelet edges but the link pivots themselves are tight with very little play. The only weak point is the bezel IMO - hard to grip when wet which is odd for a dive watch.
Is it thick? Have a 6.5 wrist and feel like an ocean star would be too big for me
Bought a blue 40mm automatic PRX. it's a great bargain.
The Mako 3 Ti is a little sharp on the bezel though. May be a side effect of the titanium surface treatment.
Don't do it, man. Stop buying these watches. It's better to save that money. Or just save up a couple of years & buy a watch from a better brand. Trust me you won't be happy.
Yes would like to see more. These are some great picks.
Orient Kamasu is so comfortable to wear! I wear it everyday since I bought it in December
Teddy, I honesty can’t believe Shinola hasn’t made it on this list yet. They are out of Detroit and absolutely killing the game for >1000$
I agree with your hot take.
Just got a seiko sharp edge in black, good to see it get a nod
Thanks Ted for showing always down to earth options. Nice to watch the Rolex submariners analysis of this world but not realistic!
Tissot bracelet is what got me
