How to fix squeaky laminate flooring

  • The trick is using baby powder or talc powder. Rub the powder generously into the squeaky joint/seam and use a hammer to gently tap over a cloth so the powder settles into the joint and under the laminate. It doesn't always work but has fixed several noisy boards in our home. I hope this helps.
    Enjoy!

We just had new floors installed throughout our living room and dinning room. I'd have to cover the entire floors with powder because every single board creaks now that its summer...I'm beyond frustrated.

I would go back to the company that installed your floors or the company that you purchased the flooring from and start a warranty claim. I did the same on mine and have arranged for the company to replace my flooring because of a defect they found that causes the squeaking. I wish you the best of luck

Wayne Guy The brand is Richmond Laminate. It’s complete junk. We’ve had it for 4 years and it scratches and chips constantly (we have 3 small kids). The creaking was ‘fixed’ by removing a small section right under the baseboards. It does still creak when it’s really humid, but it’s much better than it was.

I found that I had to do this a few times with the powder to get it to stop but I’ve discovered a better option that works longer and is easier.
I’ve used a liquid bike chain wax in the joints of my laminate. I apply a nice even amount of the lubricant to the joint, let it sit for a few seconds, then I wipe the excess off.
This is the stuff I’ve used
Finish Line Wax Chain Lube (Bottle) (4oz)
      Hope this helps.
      Cheers!
