Gday ken this is Paul from Adelaide Australia after watching your video on the Sqeeky floors. i tryed it myself after moving into my rental property. WOW i could'nt beleave it mate. it Actually works so bloody happy now. Thanks mate 4 sharing this video !!!🤠
It will work to some extent for a while but I prefer using the screw kits specifically for squeaky floors mainly because it's the plywood or subfloor underneath which is the culprit. Screwing down into the subfloor will silence the squeak for good and you'll hardly notice the holes you need to make once filled in with the wood filler pencils.
Huh, pretty amazing! Now I know, what I'll buy next time I'm at the supermarket - live in a all hardwood floor apartment except bathroom in an over 100 year old house, so there's one or two squeaky boards ^^ Glad btw, You're still doing Your vids! Been subscribed to You since You made the pantry moths vid half a decade ago or so and I'll never forget You even mentioning me in the following video :) I'm kind of stupid that way, haha
@@KenTraining . When it's board-to-board with no subfloor there's really nothing to be done, especially without access from the bottom. I'll give the baby powder the ole' college try, and hope it holds up as long as yours did, especially since it'll be under carpet. Thanks for the reply.
I have a laminate floor, and underneath it are planks. It is squeaking like crazy at the moment underneath the floor, and I think its the laminate touching the planks underneath. Do you think this will fix it? I will probably give it a try since its a lot cheaper then isolating underneath the floor.
if the tiles are ceramic, then the problem is the subfloor and you have no access to that from the tile side without removing the tiles which most people will not due just for a squeaking floor.
baby powder is made from CORN STARCH, it is food for human as well as for the bugs and worms...starch will be kind of glue if water gets in but it will be always food for the bugs and insects, it is also Sugary , from corn starch u get glucose and artificial sweeteners...probably when u spray it with detergent it turns to sticky starch,,hence holding the floor tight till the insects party on it....
@@Kaodusanya the 2nd application was about 2 years in and I don't think I ever did a 3rd application. Very inexpensive and easy fix here. I do recommend trying it.

How did it hold up when you swept and mopped, and is the baby powder noticeable to others when they look at the floor?
Held up great, low cost, easy to do. for sure you want to try this. the baby power was not noticeable to others.
That fire pit sitting area was amazing
I did not like it...
really nice and simple trick, thanks for sharing Ken!
Thanks for this cheap but very useful tip!

what if you hit a water line or a gas line?
can't do that...we have concrete foundation.😅
@@Miranda3730well you wouldn't need to do it then if you don't have a subfloor and instead your floorboards are resting on concrete lol
I’ve done my floor twice as it doesn’t last. Ended up drilling 9/16” holes and squirting in Fix-Floor adhesive with a syringe. We’ll see if it lasts.
Thanks for sharing this awesome tip!
Can you post an update on how long this lasted for?
about 4 years and then add more baby powder. Very easy and inexpensive.
Thanks for the great video! How has it held up?
still holding up great.

May I borrow your brush? 😗
How’s it holding up now? Was it a temporary fix?
no, it is still good! I totally recommend you trying this out.
Curious how long this ended up working for you?
I add more baby power about every 3 to 4 years.

Thanks a lot for showing it!
Bravo and thanks.
Thank you great idea
How long did it last?
it has been over 1 year and still good. This is a no brainer, " Just Do It" :)

I am not sure if it will fix but the cost/ effort is so easy, try it and let us know the results. Thanks
@diederik did it work? 👀
@@victoriaharris6317 Unfortunately , no. But it was to be expected haha
Woah. Cool tip!
Any idea if this would work with another powder such as baking soda?
I don't know?
SUPER PORADA ! DZIEKI.
I’m curious how long would
You say it lasted
Its still work good. this is inexpensive and easy to do.
@@KenTraining Great to hear thx for the reply with the up date
so has it lasted?
Yes, all good.
How long does this last?
a long time, I have not added any baby power and the job is still squeek free. :)
Does it work even if it’s not near a joint like was shown in the video?
I don’t think it’s going to work if it’s not at a seam or a joint.
Thank you , how about the Bathroom, squeaky floor ? Any idea? Tiles on top of it .....

Awesome
What if my baby powder contains no talc but cornstarch instead?
I did not try that product but for $1 you can buy the right stuff...
I think the fireplace looks better before with the bricks, I will try this today, my floors are draving me crazy!
I like the Marble fireplace better :)
Wow I need to try this!! I just moved into a historic home, and there are so many squeaks. Which spray did you use at the end to clean off the powder?
Just a spray cleaner like 409. Mine was simple green.

I have not had any issue with insects since putting down the baby powder.

what happens when you vacuum?
nothing, its all good. You dont notice anything but quiet.
Why are you vacuuming wood floors.
@@rjrdzd1 who doesn’t vacuum to remove dust and clean? Vacuum followed by clean and rag
@@rjrdzd1 we vacuum first then mop.
@Swago. YTgang I always felt it was a best practice.
The floor is moving, better to nail it down.
👍👍
Damn
This did not work! I did everything you did, absolutely no change in the squeak. And what a hassle to clean! I really wish it fixed the noise.
Yikes, I wonder if your squeak is the subfloor to joist?
Bullshit! Didn't work
It worked for me...
You did it wrong then. Mental illness is sad
