    1. Become aware of your negative thoughts.
    2. Realize that you are addicted to this way of thinking. Try to understand why you are addicted to this way of thinking (usually ego based)
    3. Understand that this way of thinking is futile and serves no purpose. Unhappiness does not work and does not change things.
    4. Remain aware of your thoughts. When you are aware you are in control; when you are unaware you are helpless.

There always a subtle background of humor, calm and light-heartedness in Eckhart’s words and persona. And also a sense of distance, as if he’s watching this whole thing from afar with indifference. Beautiful man.

Its called an interview not a speech when she engages with people. If you ever notice as one of the best interviewer's a side from Barbara Walters they assist the speaker in getting all of the information they have locked up in their heads that they may forget to bring up. Other wise the person should just give a speech.

Negative thinking is so hard for some people to break because it actually produces a dopamine affect in the brain, which plays a major role in the motivational component of reward-motivated behavior. As a Master Life Coach I see this a lot. I help them to replace every negative thought with ten positive to help re-wire the brains neuro pathways.

I was hysterically laughing when Eckhart started verbalizing the examples of negative thinking because that used to be me to a "T". Of course, it's really not funny, but I'm glad I can look back on it and laugh now thanks to Eckhart's teachings. I am grateful, too, that I have a very logical mind... and at least a small degree of intelligence... to absolutely understand what my ego was doing most of my adult life in terms of negativity. Nowadays, any time negativity creeps back into my mind, I stop myself and realize that it serves No Purpose. My mantra is: "An Eckhart a day keeps the negativity away." 🍎♥

With respect to Eckhart Tolle's use of that sentence, a grievance looking for a Cause. My husband does this a lot, he gets mad and spends his time looking for what I may have done that could possibly make him angry. Instead of calling that a grievance Looking For A Cause, although I think that is a good phrase! I call it pre mad.

Great eye opener, The more videos I watch, the more I read Eckhart’s books, more enlightened I become. When you have lived for so long unconsciously the pull to negative thinking , once guilt, once blame is strong but I won’t give up! I keep failing but I’ll keep trying. I love the presence, the peace that I was yearning to obtain for so long but I was looking for it outside , I am finally feeling it within 🧘‍♂️🤗 Thank you the Universe for Eckhart Tolle and everyone who help him spread his teaching.

I was raised by an abusive, cruel mother who constantly displayed this negative way of thinking, it's taken a lifetime to heal but I've always, even as a young child had the inner belief the world was a good place and full of wonder. My father had many similar beliefs to Eckhart so im guessing this helped immensely although I often wonder why he married such a woman. I do however at times still struggle with negative thinking. This amazing man heals me he is such a gift to our world. 💕💕💕💕

What a wonderful man, even more so because he has been through it himself so understands. He has given us the solution to constant negative chatter - ‘awareness’. Such a simple tool to use. If I had known this I wouldn’t have wasted my time on self-help books. I am terribly addicted to my negative chatter. Also, it is just the same old habitual thoughts, almost a ‘safe’ place to keep going back to but extremely destructive because they gave me a disease I am healing naturally. So, all you sensitive, lovely people reading this, you must be because we all have the same problem, get yourself fixed mentally coz your body can’t tell the difference between fact and fiction, fight or flight. Also, practice gratitude for even the tiniest things in your life and it makes you feel better. Eckhart, you are an Earth Angel. Blessings, Karen, UK.

I grew up alone with a lethally narsissistic parent. It took med almost 30 years to realise the severity of my wounds. My anger, my ego, my mental self-flagellation and resentment for never meeting the standards of others. The self-hate is at times som noisy I cannot pay attention to what is said and done around me. Eckhart is now slowly healing these wounds. I have a long way to go, though.
I have now built up the courage to cut this person out of my life.

I prefer to use the word , “ accustomed “ ...I got accustomed to thinking & acting a certain way. ~ The word “ addiction “ is heavy & judgmental ..It’s good to be able to describe ( label ) these aspects of ourselves in the most open ended / neutral ways as possible ...So that one may have an easier experience to navigate changes we choose to make. I love you. I feel you in my being as you speak or as my thoughts turn to your being. I hold you in the highest love, joy, health, appreciation, acceptance, wellbeing, wholeness, regeneration, esteem, and send to you all the goodness the highest, wholy spirit offers. You remerge with my being and it is the most beautiful, spiritual dance. Thank you. Much Love.

It doesn't matter. Give him the book if you feel like doing it, just do your part and don't take for granted that he won't read it.

Karen Singing ASMR i tried that but in most cases they cant bring themselves to read it.. something might need to disrupt her thinking, get a small spurt of awareness and then give her the book so she can learn more.. Make her watch a movie like groundhog day first perhaps? Lol hope this helps

According to power of now, wanting someone to change means non acceptance which means you yourself are not present and then how can you guide them to presence if you aren't present? You can accept them as they are and be present. Your presence if strong enough can help them be present and then if they want to stay present they will find ways to learn about it.
